500 Quick Install
1. UNPACK DEKO500
•Open and inspect the box contents. Compare them
against the enclosed packing list. If any item is missing
or damaged, please contact Pinnacle Systems
immediately.
2. CONNECT KEYBOARD, MOUSE AND MONITOR TO THE CPU
•Connect keyboard cable to the keyboard jack (10).
•Connect mouse cable to the mouse jack (8)
•Connect the VGA monitor cable to the 15-pin “D”
connector (3).
3. CONNECT NETWORK CABLE
•Plug an RJ-45 connector from a designated network
transceiver into the Network port (9). Refer to your
Windows NT User’s Guide for details on configuring a
network node. The network card is auto-sensing, and
will run either 10baseT or 100baseT.
4. CONNECT VIDEO REFERENCE
•Connect an analog reference signal from your house
sync generator to the left-hand Reference connector
(11).
•If Deko500 is the last device in your reference loop,
terminate the right-hand Reference connector with a 75
Ωterminator.
•If Deko500 is in the middle of your reference loop,
connect the right-hand Reference connector to the next
device’s reference input connector.

5. CONNECT VIDEO INPUTS AND OUTPUTS
Digital Systems
•Connect serial digital to the input BNC (13).
•Connect serial digital video and key output to
output BNCs (12 & 15).

6. CONNECT THE POWER
•Plug the chassis power cable into an AC power outlet.
System voltage: 110/220V auto-sensing, 50/60 Hz
Power consumption: <500 Watts
•Plug the VGA monitor power cable into an AC power
outlet. Make sure that any other peripheral equipment is
correctly connected to a power source.
7. POWER UP AND LOG ON
•Power on peripheral equipment.
•Press the Power switch on the front of the Deko500
chassis. The green Power LED (below the switch) lights
when the system is on. The system boots up and
prompts you to log on.
•Log on to Windows NT as user “Deko500”with blank
password.
•Double-click the Deko icon to launch Deko500
8. VERIFY OUTPUT AND INPUT CONNECTIONS
•To verify output, select Color Bars in the Channel
menu. Verify that the output monitor displays the bars.
•To verify input, clear the Program window (Alt+F8),
then from the Channel menu select Keyer On. Verify
that the Program monitor displays whatever is
connected to the input.
•To make analog adjustments, go to Options/Hardware
Settings/Analog Adjustments.
•The video input can be “frame grabbed”and saved to
disk. It can also be used as a full screen background
with the internalNH\HU
