Chapter 1Introduction
PLANETUL-201 is aHi-Speed USB 2.0 solution to peer-to-peernetwork file sharing via the USBport.
The UL-201 provides true Plug&Play capability while transferring files at greater speed than traditional
USB or otherlegacy portfile transferproducts.USB 2.0 solutions offer up to 40 times the speed
compared to normal full-speed USB 1.1 products.
UL-201 also provides aFile Transfer Utility that is similarto WindowsProgram Manager so you can
easily drag-and-drop files or creates folders in your local computer or in the linked remote PC. Just plug
in the cable, run the UL-201 utility and instantly transfer or copy files at high speed.
The UL-201 USB 2.0 DataLink Cable is highly suitable formobile computer use and SOHO
environment.

1.3 Verifying Your System Requirements
Before installing the UL-201, be sure your computer meetsthe following requirements:

ü CPU: 133MHz or Faster
ü RAM: 32MB (Minimum)

Chapter 2Installation
2.1 Software Installation
Before you plug-in and use the UL-201 for the first time in your computer,you should run the SETUP
InstallShield program to preload the driver and utility into yourcomputer. This step is necessary in order
for you to use the USB 2.0 Data Link Cable properly under Windows operating system.
Note:The following steps will show how to install the UL-201 under WindowsXP.If you are using other
Windows system, the installation is also the same but the look of the dialogue boxes may be a
little bit different. This Setup program only supportsWindows 98, Me, 2000, XP and Server 2003.
1. Power on your computer.
2. Insert UL-201 Drivers and User sManual CD toyour CD-ROMDrive, then find out the SETUP.EXE
in the CD (Assume "E" is your CD-ROM drive, the driver can be found in E:\Driver\UL-201) and run
this file to install driver and utility.The Setup program will then starttopreparethe InstallShield
Wizard that will guide you through the rest ofthe setup process.
3. The InstallShield Wizard welcome dialog boxwill then appearto display some information
regarding the setup program. Followthe instructions and click “Next”to continue.

4. When installation prompts you that installation is complete, please click “Finish”.
2.2 Hardware Installation
1. After software installation is complete, the driver will also install to your PC.
2. Locate the USB port of your computer and plug in the UL-201.The USB port usually has the
imprinted symbol.
Note: If you plug the cable to aUSB 1.1 port, Windowswill showan alertmessage telling you
that it is plugged into a non-Hi-Speed USB hub.You can still continue to use the UL-201,
but itwill run at areduced speed. Windowswill recommend you to add aHi-Speed USB
2.0 host controller to your computer to obtain maximum performance.
3. Wait till Windows detects the UL-201 and prompts you for the device driver location. If prompted,
select to “Install the software automatically (Recommended)”and click “Next”to continue.

4. Windowswill then detect the preloaded driver.BeforeWindowsinstalls the driver,it may prompt
you that this device driver (Hi-Speed USB Bridge Cable) has not yet passed WindowsXP Logo
testing. Please click “Continue Anyway”to continue.
5. Windowswill then start to install the driver for UL-201. Once installation is complete, Windowswill
prompt you that ithas finished.Click “Finish”to complete the driver installation.
6. You can also verify the driver installation under Device Manager.Right-click on “MyComputer”=>
click “Hardware-Device Manager”=> click “Universal Serial Bus controllers”and check ifthere is
the Hi-Speed USB Bridge Cable.

Chapter 3UtilityOperating
After installation is complete, you can find there aretwoshortcutscreated on the desktop screen. For
Windows2000/XP/Server 2003, thereare twoprograms provided: ANSI mode and Unicode mode. For
Windows98 and Me, only the ANSI mode is provided.The Unicode mode has support Multi-Language
function. In default, it is set toEnglish.The software will support more and more langrage in the future.

The UL-201 allowsyou toeasily link twocomputersby plugging each end of the cable into the USB port
of both computers.Before you can startusing the utility - PCLinq2, you need firstto run Setup program
on both computers and install the bridge cable as mentioned in the previous section.
PCLinq2 is the application program used tocontrol the file sharing and datatransfer of the linked
computers(also knownas the local PC and the remotePC). After you have successfully completed the
Setup program and installed the PCLinq2 bridge cable, you simply double-click on the PCLinq2
shortcut found on your desktop screen. The PCLinq2 File Transfer program will appear as follows:

With PCLinq2, you can control both the local and remote PCs and do the following:
1. Display files/folders
2. Open files/folders
3. Create files/folders
4. Delete files/folders
5. Copy files/folders
6. Move files/folders
7. Change file/folder names
Multiple Cable Select –ifthere are three computerslinked togetherusing twoUL-201 (see Figure
below). PCLinq2 can allowyou to control twocomputers (A-to-B orB-to-C)atatime.Itwill ask you to
connect to PC A or PC C when PC B PCLinq2 is starting and detect there is Multiple cable mode.
