Safety Precautions
Beforegettingstarted, readthefollowingimportant cautions.
1. Besuretogroundyourself toprevent static chargewhen installing theinternalcomponents.
Use agrounding wrist strap and placeallelectronic components in any static-shielded devices.
Most electronic components are sensitive to static electricalcharge.
2. Disconnect thepower cords fromtheNAS server before makingany installation. Besureboth
the systemand theexternaldevicesare turnedOFF. Suddensurge ofpower could ruin
sensitivecomponents. Make surethe NAS serveris properlygrounded.
3. Donot openthe system stopcover. If opening thecover for maintenanceisamust, onlya
trainedtechnician is allowedtodo so. Integrated circuits on computer boards aresensitiveto
staticelectricity. To avoid damagingchips from electrostaticdischarge, observethe following
precautions:
ü Before handling a board or integrated circuit, touch an unpaintedportion of the system unit chassis forafew
seconds. This willhelptodischarge anystatic electricityon your body.
ü When handling boards and components, wear awrist-grounding strap, available from mostelectronic
componentstores.
