Your new t ermostat makes it easy for you to save on eating and cooling costs by regulating your ome’s temperature based on
t e activities of t e ouse old. T e key is to establis a program t at reduces eating and cooling in your ome w en you don't
need as muc . Talk wit ot er ouse old members to determine t eir comfort level and set your t ermostat according to
everyone’s sc edule.
Here is a sample sc edule from ENERGY STAR®:
Attention Heat Pump Users: big c anges in temperature settings can cause your eat pump to operate in auxiliary mode, a more
energy-intensive eat recovery process. T is can increase your winter energy bills. If you use temperature setbacks for your eating
system, only set back t e temperature by 2 degrees or less to avoid ig er energy costs.
B. T ermostat Stages
T e Wi-Fi web-programmable t ermostat displays up to four stages of eat or cooling.
If you ave a eat pump, t ere could be as many as four stages of eat. T e first stage is t e compressor operating and Stage 1 will
appear on t e t ermostat screen. T ere may be up to t ree ot er stages – 2, 3, 4 – depending on ow muc additional eat is
needed to meet t e temperature setpoint. If you see Stage 2, 3, or 4 in addition to Stage 1 on t e t ermostat ome screen, your eat
pump is using a more energy-intensive auxiliary or secondary eating source to meet t e temperature setpoint.
If you ave a gas furnace, t ere could be two stages of eat. T ese stages are low and ig fire. If additional eat is needed to reac
t e temperature setpoint, Stage 2 will display in addition to Stage 1 on t e t ermostat ome screen.
Some air conditioning units ave more t an one stage of cooling. T is could be a low and ig speed on a variable speed compressor,
or a first and second compressor if t ere are multiple compressors. If additional cooling is needed to reac t e temperature setpoint,
Stage 2 will display in addition to Stage 1 on t e t ermostat ome screen.
