Assembly:
Parts list: escort side frames side (A) and (B), 1 stand (C), 8 m2.5 x 8 mm screws for side frames (D) Allen wrench included, 2
m3 x 12 mm screws for stand (E) Allen wrench included. 2 nylon washers for stand(F), 2 steel washers for stand (G) 2 m3
locknuts for stand (H), 2 trigger snaps for strap (I).
Please read the entire instructions before starting installation.
Step 1: Remove your strap from the 817ND transceiver (if attached).
Step 2: Set your transceiver on a soft surface and remove the 4 screws and metal strap attachment tabs from each side.
Step 3: Place your transceiver on a soft surface with its side facing up per figure 1 and place side frame (A)against the 817ND
with the stand mount aiming down. Install 4 screws (C) per figure 1. Start all screws but leave them loose to make stand
installation easier. Note: The side frames can be installed in any order.
Step 4: Install the other side frame (B) in the same manner as you just did with side frame (A) leaving the screws loose.
Step 5: Stand Installation. Install the stand aiming in the proper direction per figure 2 and hardware placement per figure 3
making sure to install the nylon washer between the stand and escort side frames and the steel washer on the inside next to the
locknut. It will take a little finesse to get the nylon washer to stay in place while installing the stand screw. It works best to slide
the screw so it slightly protrudes through the side frame and place the nylon washer on the end of the screw, then put the stand
in place then push the screw fully into place. Slide on the steel washer and attach the lock nut. Note: Extra nylon washers are
included.
Note: If you have problem putting the nylon washers in place, An alternative method is to attach the stand to the side frames A
and Bfirst before installing the side frames on the 817ND.
When the stand is installed, tighten the lock nut with just enough tension to allow the stand to have some resistance when
tilted. Some future re-tightening may be necessary.
Step 6: Tighten all 8 screws D. Set your 817 transceiver on a flat surface and make sure it is sitting square. If a slight rocking is
felt, loosen screws Dand allow the side frames to square themselves then re-tighten screws. Caution: Do not over tighten
the mounting screws. Just moderate tightening is required. The tapped holes in the radio can be stripped if over
tightened.
Note: slight pressure may be necessary to press the radio top and bottom halves together at the rear before tightening the
screws (D)
Step 7: Trigger snap clip installation.
Slide the trigger snaps onto the strap and thread the strap back into the retainer slides in the same manner that the
original strap tabs were attached to the strap. Adjust the length as desired. Your strap can now be easily attached or
removed from the 817 escort using the front or rear mounting points.
(Place the removed screws and strap tabs in the small resalable parts bag for safe keeping).
