Travaillez dans un environnement de travail securitaire . Gardez votre aire de travail desencombree
et bien eclairee.
2. N' utilisez pas cet Dutil dans des endroits mouilles ou humides et ne I' exposez pas a la pluie. De I' eau qui
s' infiltre dans un Dutil electrique aug mente Ie risque de choc electrique .
3. N' utilisez pas d' outils electriques en presence de gaz ou de liquides inflammables . Les outils electriques
peuvent produire des etincelles.
4. Assurez-vous que les personnes qui ne portent pas I' equipement de securite approprie ne se trouvent pas a
proximite de I' aire de travail. Les distractions peuvent causer une perte de contrale .
5. Entreposez I' equipement non utilise. Lorsqu ' ils ne sont pas en usage , les outils doivent etre entre poses dans
un endroit sec pour prevenir la rouille. Gardez toujours les outils dans un endroit verrouille et hors de la
portee des enfants.

1. Portez des vetements appropries et de I' equipement de protection . Utilisez des protections pour les voies
respiratoires, les oreilles, les yeux, Ie visage, les pieds, les mains et la tete. Portez toujours des lunettes de
securite etanches approuvees par I' ANSI qui offrent une protection frontale et laterale . Protegez-vous les
mains aI' aide de gants appropries . Portez un ecran facial panoramique si vo t re travail produit des limailles
ou des copeaux de bois. Protegez-vous la tete de la chute d' objets en portant un casque de protection.
Portez un masque antipoussieres ou un appareil respiratoire approuve par l'ANSllorsque vous travaillez pres
du metal , du bois ou des poussieres et vapeurs chimiques . Portez des bouchons d' oreille approuves par
I' ANSI. Des vetements de protection non conducteurs et des chaussures antiderapantes sont recommandes
pour Ie travail. Pour eviter les blessures dues aux chutes d' objets , portez des chaussures a embout d'acier .
2. Ne vous etirez pas trop loin ; restez stable et en equilibre en tout temps. Une stabilite et un equilibre
appropries permettent d' avoir un meilleur controle de I' outil en cas de situations inattendues .

Tenez les vetements , les bijoux, les cheveux, etc .a I'ecart des pieces mobiles. lis peuvent se coincer dans les
pieces mobiles et ainsi endommager I'outil ou provoquer de graves blessures.
4. Restez alerte , portez attention avos gestes et faites preuve de bon sens. N' utilisez pas d' appareil ou d' outil si
vous etes fatigue ou sous I' effet de drogues , d'alcool ou de medicaments.
5. Utilisez des serres ou un autre moyen pratique pour fixer et soutenir la piece a travailler sur une plate-
forme stable. Une piece a travailler tenue dans les mains ou appuyee contre Ie corps est instable et risque
d' entralner une perte de controle.
SECURITE EN ELECTRICITE
1. Debranchez la source d' alimentation . Debranchez I' outil de la source d' alimentation lorsqu ' il n' est pas utilise
et avant Ie nettoyage ,I' entretien ou Ie rem placement de pieces ou d' accessoires.
2. Protegez-vous contre les chocs electriques lorsque vous travaillez en presence d' equipement electrique.
Evitez un contact entre votre corps et les surfaces reliees a la terre comme les tuyaux , radiateurs, cuisinieres
et rBfrigerateurs. II ya un risque plus eleve de choc electrique si votre corps est relie a la terre.
3. Les outils a double isolation sont munis d' une fiche polarisee (une broche est plus large que I'autre).
Cette fiche s' inserera dans une prise polarisee dans une direction seulement. Si la fiche ne s' insere pas
completement dans la prise , tournez-Ia . Si elle ne s' insere toujours pas , contactez un electricien qualifie pour
faire installer une prise polarisee. Ne modifiez pas la fiche d' aucune maniere . La double isolation eli mine Ie
besoin d' un cordon d' alimentation mis a la terre a trois fils et d' un systeme d' alimentation mis a la terre .
4. Les outils mis a la terre doivent etre branches dans une prise qui est correctement installee et mise a la terre
conformement a to us les codes et a tous les reglements . Ne retirez jamais la broche de masse et ne modifiez
jamais la fiche. N' utilisez aucune fiche d'adaptation . Consultez un electricien qualifie si vous doutez de la
mise a la terre appropriee d' une prise . En cas de dBfailiance electronique ou de bris de I' outil , la mise a la
terre procure un trajet de faible resistance pour eloigner I' electricite de I' utilisateur.
5. N' utilisez pas Ie cordon de maniere abusive. Ne transportez jamais I'outil par Ie cordon et ne tirez jamais
sur celui-ci pour enlever la fiche de la prise. Tenez Ie cordon aI' ecart de la chaleur, de I' huile , des rebords
coupants ou des pieces mobiles . N' utilisez pas cet outil si Ie cordon d' alimentation est effile ou endommage .
Remplacez les cordons endommages immediatement. Les cordons endommages augmentent Ie risque de
choc electrique . Ne modifiez la fiche en aucune maniere .
7.
Si vous utilisez un outil electrique aI' exterieur , utilisez une rallonge d' exterieur identifiee « W-A » ou
« W» . Ces rallonges sont approuvees pour un usage exterieur et rliduisent Ie risque de choc electrique .
Utilisez avec un disjoncteur de fuite de terre (GFCI). Si I' utilisation d' un outil electrique dans un lieu humide
est inevitable ,I' usage d' un GFCI reduit Ie risque de choc electrique . II est recommande que Ie GFCI possede
un courant residuel nominal de 30 mA ou moins .
8. Evitez d' utiliser une rallonge excessivement longue. Choisissez une rallonge appropriee a la situation , car
une rallonge trop longue qui tralne sur Ie plancher peut etre plus dangereuse qu ' utile . L' usage d' une rallonge
trop longue ou trop mince peut endommager I'outil. Deroulez Ie cordon au complet
pour eviter sa surchauffe.
9. Disposez Ie cordon electrique de faQon qu ' il ne touche pas I'outil et qu ' il ne ri sque pas de se prendre dans la
piece a travailler. Le cordon doit toujours se trouver derriere I' outil.

PERSONAL SAFETY
1. Dre ss properl y, wear protective equipment. Use breathing, ear , eye, face, foot, hand and head protection .
Alwa ys wea r ANSI approved impact safety goggles, which must provide both frontal and side protection.
Protect your hands with suitable gloves . Wear a full face shield if your work creates metal filings or wood
chips. Protect y our head from falling objects by w earing a hard hat. Wear an ANSI approved dust mask or
respirator when working around metal, wood and chemical dusts and mists. Wear ANSI approved earplugs.
Protective , electrically non-conducti ve clothes and non-skid footwear are recommended when working . Wear
steel toed boots to prevent injury from falling objects.
2. Do not over reach; keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables better
control of the tool in unexpected situations.
3. Keep any articles of clothing, jewelry , hair etc. away from moving parts . These can be caught in moving
parts , resulting in damage to the tool and/or serious injury .

Stay alert , watch what you are doing and use your common sense. Do not operate any machine or tool when
you are tired, under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications.
5. Use clamps or other practical ways to secure and support the work piece to a stable platform. Holding the
work piece by hand or against your body is unstable and may lead to loss of control.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY

1. Disconnect power supply. Disconnect from power supply when not in use, before cleaning, servicing or
changing any parts or accessories.
2. Protect yourself against electric shocks when working on electrical equipment. Avoid body contact with
grounded surfaces such as pipes , radiators , cooking stoves and refrigerators. There is an increased chance
of electrical shock if your body is grounded .
3. Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will
fit in a polarized outlet only one way . If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet , reverse the plug. If it still does
not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not change the plug in any way. Double
insulation eliminates the need for a three wire grounded power cord and grounded power supply system.
4. Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet properly installed and grounded in accordance with all codes
and ordinances . Never remove the grounding prong or modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter
plugs . Check with a qua l ified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded . If
the tool should electronically malfunction or break down , grounding provides a low resistance path to carry
electricity away from the user.
5. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to carry the tools or pull the plug from an outlet. Keep cord away
from heat, oil , sharp edges or moving parts. Do not operate this tool if the power cord is frayed or damaged.
Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords increase the risk of electric shock. Do not modify the
plug in any way.
7. When operating a po w er tool outside , use an outdoor extension cord marked "W-A" or "W ". These cords are
rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric shock. Use in conjunction w ith a Ground Fault Circuit
Interrupter (GFCI). If operating a po we r tool in a damp location is unavoidable , the use of a GFCI reduces the
risk of electric shock. It is recommended that the GFCI should have a rated residual current of 30 mA or less .
8. Avoid using an unnecessarily long extension cord . Choose a cord that is appropriate for the situation, as a
cord that is too long and running across the floor can be more dangerous than helpful. Using a cord that is
too long or too thin could damage the tool. Unroll the cord completely to prevent it from overheating.
9. Place the electrical cord in a position that prevents it from coming into contact with the tool and from getting
caught by the wo rk piece . The cord should always stay behind the tool .

VIBRATION PRECAUTIONS
This tool vibrates during use. Repeated or long-term exposure to vibration may cause temporary or permanent
physical injury, particularly to the hands , arms and shoulders .

1. Anyone using vibrating tools regularly or for an extended period should first be examined by a doctor and
then have regular medical check ups to ensure medical problems are not being caused by or worsened from
tool use . Pregnant w omen or people who have impaired blood circulation to the hands , past hand injuries ,
nervous system disorders , diabetes or Raynaud 's Disease should not use this tool. If you feel any medical
symptoms related to vibrations (such as tingling, numbness , and w hite or blue fingers) , seek medical
attention as soon as possible.
2, Do not smoke during use . Nicotine reduces the blood flow to the hands and fingers, increasing the risk of
vibration-related injury.
3, Wear suitable gloves to reduce the vibration effects on the user,
4. Use tools with the lowest amount of vibration w hen there is a choice between different processes .
5.
Do not use for extended periods. Take frequent breaks w hen using this tool.
6. Let the tool do the work . Grip the tool as lightly as possible (w hile still keeping safe control of it) .
7. To reduce vibrations, maintain tool as explained in this manual. If abnormal vibrations occur , stop using this
tool immediately,
8. This tool will not stop moving immediately . Do not lay the tool down or leave it unattended until it has come
to a complete stop. A part that is moving could make the tool jump or grab a surface and pull the tool out of
your control.
SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• Never leave the Bandsaw unattended w hile it is running . Do not put the Bandsaw down until the blade comes
to a complete stop,
• Cutting Material. Make sure cutting material is securely fastened down before operating the Bandsaw . Work
slowly and carefully when cutting corners , sharp edges, ragged welds , etc. , to avoid snagging.
CAUTION! Cutting material and the motor housing can get very hot during operation . Stop w ork until unit cools
do wn to safe temperature . Spray on a coolant or w ater onto the blade .
Note: Performance of this tool (if po w ered by line voltage) may vary depending on variations in local line voltage .
Extension cord usage may also affect tool performance.

TOOL USE AND CARE
1, Use the right tool for the job , Do not attempt to force a small tool or attachment to do the work of a larger
industrial tool. The tool will perform better and more safely at the task for which it was intended, Do not
modify this tool or use for a purpose for which it was not designed,
2, To maintain complete control ,firmly hold your metal cutting saw with both hands, Using tools with only one
hand can result in loss of control. Do not place hands over air vents, Proper cooling of motor is necessary to
ensure normal life of tool.
3, Maintain tools with care , Keep tools clean , sharp and in good condition for a better and safer performance,
Inspect tool fittings, alignment and power cords periodically and, if damaged, have them repaired by an
authorized technician or replaced, The handles must be kept clean , dry and free from oil and grease at all
times, A properly maintained tool reduces the risk of binding and is easier to control. Sharp tools are safer
than tools which have become dull because you do not have to apply excessive amounts of force to make
your cuts, Applying excessive force can lead to slips and damage to your work or personal injury ,

Remove adjusting keys and wrenches, Check that keys are removed from the saw before connecting it. A key
that is left attached to a rotating part of the tool increases the risk of personal injury,
5, Avoid unintentional starts, Be sure that the switch is in neutral or OFF position when not in use and before
connecting it to any power source, Do not carry the tool with fingers near or on the switch,
6, Maintain the label and name plate on the tool, These carry important information, If unreadable or missing,
contact Princess Auto for a replacement.
lUBRICATION
1, It is important that the tool be properly lubricated , Without proper lubrication the tool will not work properly
and parts will wear prematurely, Avoid over-lubricating the tool.
2, Use the proper lubricant and fill or lubricate parts only as necessary, Use only recommended lubricants ,
Substitutes may harm the rubber compounds in the tool 's a-rings and other rubber parts,
3, Lubricate before storing, In the event that it becomes necessary to store the tool for an extended period
of time (overnight , weekend , etc,) it should receive a generous amount of lubrication at that time, The tool
should be run for approximately 30 seconds to ensure oil has been evenly distributed throughout the tool.
UNPACKING
When unpacking , check to make sure all of the parts on the Parts List on Page 9 of this manual are included, If any
parts are missing or broken , please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number on the cover of this manual as soon
as possible,
OPERATION
WARNING! Never use a blade which is not in accordance with the sizes approved for this 8andsaw, If you are
unsure of the blade, do not use it and contact a Princess Auto technician at the number on the cover of
this manual.
Select the proper blade according to the cutting material and the diameter of the w orkpiece, This bandsaw comes
with a 14 teeth-per-inch blade which is suitable for most applications (see below) , 14 TPI - Soft! Thick Material(
aluminum , lead, rubber-like material ,wood) Other applications for 24 teeth-per-inch blades (not included) are

FONCTIONNEMENT DE L'INTERRUPTEUR
AVERTISSEMENT ! Avant de brancher la scie a ruban, assurez-vous que I'interrupleur de la gachette qui se
trouve sur la partie superieure de la face interieure de la poignee en U retourne a sa position d'origine apres
avoir ete enfonce. Testez-Ie en I'enfon~ant avec I'index, puis en Ie relachant. II devrait retrouver sa position
initiale s'il est en bon etat de fonctionnement.
1. Le moteur de la scie se met en fonction lorsque la gachette est enfoncee.
2. II cesse de fonctionner lorsqu ' on relache la gachette .
3. Le bouton de blocage se trouve juste a cote de la gachette. II sert a bloquer Ie moteur en marche pour ne
pas avoir a enfoncer continuellement la gachette. Pour activer I'interrupteur de blocage , mettez Ie moteur
en marche en suivant I' etape 1. Tout en continuant a enfoncer la gachette , enclenchez Ie bouton de blocage
a ['aide de [' autre main. Re[achez [a gachette et [e moteur restera b[oque. Pour desenc[encher [e bouton de
verrouillage , enfoncez de nouveau la gachette.
METHODE DE COUPE
1. Fixez la piece a travailler a un etabli ou une autre surface solide.
2. Assurez-vous que Ie cordon d'alimentation est aI' ecart.
3. Placez la barre de guidage (63) contre la piece a travailler.
4. Mettez la scie a ruban en marche et attendez qu ' elle atteigne sa vitesse
maximale avant de realiser la coupe .
5. Inclinez I' outil de maniere a ce que la lame so it en position verticale
comme I' indique la figure B. Coupez les objets sur leur face la plus
plane , ou la plupart des dents de la scie a ruban entrerant en contact
avec la piece a travailler au debut de la coupe .
6. Lorsque Ie moteur se met en marche, la lame commence par tourner
dans Ie sens antihoraire , puis coupe Ie materiau.
7. Ne forcez pas I'outil en exergant une pression de la main trop forte

ou en vous penchant sur celui-ci. Le poids de I' outil en lui - meme est
suffisant pour realiser un trait de coupe net. Soyez patient. Le fait de
forcer sur I'outil ou de vous pencher sur celui-ci pourrait detormer ou
briser la lame , endommager la scie et provoquer des blessures.

8. Lorsque la scie parvient en fin de passe, term inez la coupe en soulevant
legerement I' appareil sans vous precipiter. Ce changement d' orientation
deplacera la lame vers Ie haut.

Avant de faire n' importe quel ajustement ou de changer un accessoire , eteignez I' outil et debranchez - Ie de
sa source d'alimentation.
1. Verifiez s' il ya des pieces endommagees. Avant d' utiliser un outil, toute piece qui semble endommagee doit
etre verifiee attentivement pour determiner si elle est en bon etat de fonctionnement et permet d'executer les
taches prevues . Verifiez I' alignement et Ie coincement des pieces mobiles , les composants ou dispositifs de
fixation brises ou toute autre situation pouvant perturber Ie bon fonctionnement. Toute piece endommagee
doit etre reparee ou remplacee par un technicien qualifie.
2. Lors de I' entretien , utilisez seulement des pieces de rechange identiques. Utilisez seulement des accessoires
congus pour etre utilises avec cet outil. Remplacez immediatement les pieces endommagees .

HOW TO CUT
1. Secure your work piece to a workbench or other solid surface .
2.
Make sure the cord is out of the way .
3. Set the Guide Bar (63) against the work piece .
4.
Turn on the Bandsaw and allow it to come up to full speed before
starting the cut.
5. Tilt the unit so that the blade is vertical as shown in Figure B. Cut
objects from the flattest side , where the most teeth of the bandsaw will
contact the work piece at the beginning of the cut.
6. When the motor turns on , the blade will begin turning in a
counterclockwise direction and begin cutting.
7. Do not apply force to the tool by exerting too much hand pressure or
leaning into it. The weight of the tool itself creates enough force to make
a clean cut. Be patient. Forcing or leaning on the tool may tw ist or break
the blade , damaging the saw and possibly causing injury.
8. As you reach the end of your work piece , finish off the cut by slightly
raising the unit slowly , bringing the blade up.

MAINTENANCE
Before making any adjustments or changing any accessory, turn off the tool and unplug it from its power source .
1. Check for damaged parts . Before using any tool , any part that appears to be damaged should be carefully
checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended functions. Check for alignment
and binding of moving parts, for broken parts or mounting fixtures, or for any other condition that may affect
proper operation . Any part that is damaged should be repaired or replaced by a qualified technician.
2. When servicing , use only identical replacement parts. Only use accessories intended for use with this tool.
Replace damaged parts i mmediately.
3. Keep the tool clean. Wipe the tool with a clean cloth and periodically blo w out all areas with compressed air.
If compressed air is not available , use a brush to remove dust from all areas. Do not use harsh chemicals or
solvents to clean the tool. These chemicals could seriously damage the plastic housing .
4.
Regularly inspect all mountings and scre ws to ensure tightness . Should any screws become loose ,
tighten immediately.
5. If repairs are required, bring your tool to an authorized service center.
CLEANING OR REPLACING THE CARBON BRUSHES
1. Unscrew the Brush Cap (5) .
2.
Carefully slide out the Carbon Brushes (4). Do not force or bend the spring attached to the brushes .
3.
Examine the springs for dirt or wear . To remove dirt , lightly rub with a common pencil eraser. If the springs
are very dirty , stretched , or worn at all , replace them with new ones .
4.
When replacing the Carbon Brushes (4) , slide them back in slo w ly , being careful not to bend them or catch
them on the side of the cylinder. Carefully screw on the Brush Cap (5).
DISPOSING OF THE TOOL
If your tool has become damaged beyond repair, do not throw it out. Bring it to the appropriate recycling facility.
