quick coupler.
4. Check the position of the pressure nozzle’s opening. This will determine the
spray angle when the spray gun is held in a level position.
5. Press down on the nozzle. The collar will snap forward with a loud click. The
nozzle is locked in place.
6. Pull the high pressure nozzle and spray wand in opposite directions to
ensure they do not separate.
PRESSURE NOZZLE SELECTION
The pressure washer has three spray nozzles. Each nozzle is color coded and
delivers a specific spray arc between 0° and 65°. The narrower the degree arc,
the higher the pressure at the water spray’s point of contact with the item being
cleaned. Distance from the item that is being sprayed will also factor into the
pressure level at the point of contact.

8664385 1.6 GPM @ 1,950 PSI Gas Pressure Washer V 4.0
12 For technical questions call 1-800-665-8685
The table identifies the colour, arc and an example. The example is only a
suggestion as some items are made of multiple materials and not all materials will
withstand the force of the pressurized spray. Choose the nozzle with the largest
spray arc, if you are unsure how much pressure to apply to an item without
damaging it. Switch to a nozzle with a narrower degree angle until you find the one
that achieves the results you want.
SPRAYING
1. Ensure there are no bystanders, animals or plants that could be injured or
damaged by the direct or deflected spray. Also check that there are no objects
that may be damaged.
2. Follow the instructions to start the engine.
3. Free the trigger lock and press into place on the trigger.
4. Release pressure from the pressure washer’s system.
5. Use low pressure to wash items such as a car or boat. Use higher pressure to
strip paint and degrease driveways.
a. Increase the spray pressure by turning the pressure control knob
clockwise (+). Decrease spray pressure by turning the pressure control
knob counterclockwise (-).
6. Stand far back from the item that you wish to spray. This will reduce the force
of the water at the point of contact.
a. Spray a small area and then check the surface for damage. If no damage
is found continue spraying.
b. Slowly move forward while spraying. Stop when you have the desired
result or if the spray is damaging the item.
Colour Arc Example
Red 0° Narrow stream to clean and remove embedded grit
or grime from concrete or brick surfaces.
Green 25° Clean wood surfaces compacted dirt, paint, oil or
mildew. Also for use with chemicals.
Black 65° (Soap) Wet surfaces or apply chemicals/detergents. Does
not provide enough force to clean by itself.

Visit www.princessauto.com for more information 13
c. Adjust the water pressure using the Pressure Adjusting Knob.
d. Consider using a pressure tip with a wider arc if there is not enough
room to stand further away. This will have less force and allow you to be
closer to the item.
7. Aim at an angle that will allow the water to deflect off the object and not back
at yourself. A 45° degree angle is a good starting point.
8. Squeeze the trigger fully and spray the object. Continue until the task
is complete.
a. If you must stop for more than a few moments before completing the task,
stop the engine and release pressure from the pressure washer’s system.
9. Spray from the bottom up when cleaning and from the top down when rinsing
to reduce water marks or streaks.
APPLYING CHEMICALS OR DETERGENTS
WARNING! Follow all safety precautions for the chemical or cleaning
solution when handling and spraying. Consult the Material Safety Data
Sheet for the product if available.
The pressure washer can spray a mixture of water and chemicals or detergents.

spraying. Only use the soap pressure nozzle (black) as it is designed for mixing
the solutions.
1. Prepare the chemical or detergent per the instructions with the product.
2. Press the open end of the siphon hose onto the barbed detergent injector
fitting located on the pump.
3. Press the siphon hose with the filter attachment into the container holding
chemical or detergent. Make sure the filter is fully submerged in the solution to
avoid drawing air into the system.
4. Install the soap pressure nozzle (black).
5. Start the pressure washer as instructed in this manual and the Engine manual.
6. Spray the solution following the instructions in the Spraying section.
7. Apply solution to a dry surface, starting at the lower portion of area to be
washed and work upward, using long, even, overlapping strokes.

8664385 1.6 GPM @ 1,950 PSI Gas Pressure Washer V 4.0
14 For technical questions call 1-800-665-8685
a. Allow detergent to soak in for 3 to 5 minutes before washing and rinsing.
Reapply as needed to prevent the surface from drying. DO NOT allow
detergent to dry on (prevents streaking).
b. Consult the chemical instructions to determine if it should be rinsed off
and the time needed to soak before rinsing.
8. Clean the pressure washer after using chemicals or detergents by placing the
filter end of the siphon hose in a container of clean water. Turn on the pressure
washer at low pressure and spray to draw clean water through the system to
flush it out. This will take 1 to 2 minutes.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient, easier to
control and will have fewer problems.
2. Inspect the tool fittings, alignment and hoses periodically. Have damaged or
worn components repaired or replaced by an authorized technician. Only use
identical replacement parts when servicing.
3. Only use accessories intended for use with this tool.
4. Keep the tool handles clean, dry and free from oil/grease at all times.

is damaged.
CHECK SPRAY GUN
Examine the hose connection to the spray gun and make sure it is secure. Check
that the trigger lock is in place to prevent accidental spraying. Replace the spray
gun immediately if the trigger lock is damaged or will not remain in place.
CHECK SPRAY WAND AND PRESSURE NOZZLES
A pulsing sensation felt when squeezing the trigger indicates either the spray
wand or the pressure nozzle is partially clogged and is causing pressure to build
in the pump.
1. Shut off the engine and turn off the water supply. Then release the pressure in
the pump system by aiming the spray gun in a safe direction and squeezing
the trigger.
2. Remove the spray nozzle from the end of spray gun wand.
