PowerShades’ True PoE roller shades are simply connected and powered by a single CAT5 or CAT6 cable. The cable is ran from a
standard PoE switch for your home network to the designated window and connected to the motorhead of the shade.

POWERING TRUE POE SHADES
POE MOTOR SETUP
WIRE PINOUT
Our PoE Shades require 7W max using an IEEE 802.3AF-2003 PoE switch. You will need to use the T568b wire standard. You will need
CAT 5 or newer. Since each motor has it's own individual IP address, dual shades will require two separate drops.
This guide follows setup using the PowerShades Dashboard, which is the recommended way to set up your PoE Shades. You will use
your login from the dealer portal in order to access your properties.
Before you begin, you will need to give yourself (or anyone who will need it) access to the property.
STEP 1
Once you have logged in, you will need to navigate to the Admin tab at the top of the page.
STEP 2
Click "Manage" next to the user then, "Property Permissions" in the dropdown menu.
STEP 3
Select the properties you would like to assign to this user by clicking the checkbox next to them.
At this point, create the "user" account for the owner of the property. This can be done by clicking "New", then select "New User."
You will need to fill out their details, such as email address and password. You will also need to select the property(s) you would like
to attach them to.
If you've already dropped a single cable for two shades, we recommend you use a PoE splitter/combiner.

CORRECTING LIMITS
Your True PoE shade(s) should have limits set when they arrive at your facility. If you feel you need to adjust your shade limits to
better fit your lifestyle, follow the quick and easy steps below.
STEP 1
Log into the PowerShades Dashboard. If you have multiple properties, make sure you
have the correct one selected. You can change the property by clicking the property
name under "Property", and selecting the correct property.
STEP 2
Ensure all shades have power and are connected to the internet. Next to the Shade
Name, an online status will display. Verify it's online (green checkmark next to it) before
beginning these steps.
STEP 3
Clicking the Shade Name you're wanting to adjust, then select Configure This Shade.
STEP 4
A new dialog box will pop up labeled "Shade Name Configuration". On the right side of
this dialogue box, you will see all of the limit correction options. Verify the shade's top
and bottom limits by using the commands on the left.
STEP 5
If the limits are incorrect, roll them the to furthest direction of the limit you need to set
(roll the shade all the way up or down). You are able to use the Step Up and Step Down
to bypass the limits. Use those buttons to get the shade to the correct limit.
STEP 6
Click the corresponding Set Limit for the limit you're trying to change.
STEP 7
Once both limits have been corrected, click Save Limits.

TRUE POE MOTOR BLINK CODES
-100 FIRMWARE (VERSION 1)
What are the LED blink codes on the motorhead and what do they mean? Below are the blink codes for our previous iteration of
our PoE motors (-100 Firmware) and the newer version (+100 Firmware) . If your shades have been shipped after the Q3 of 2022,
your motors will are +100 firmware.

9
+100 FIRMWARE (VERSION 2)
ERROR CODES
LED Protocol remains the same for DHCP and
Static switch and resets with the Board Button
and Dry Contact.
!
Alternating GREEN and RED LED at equal speeds.
POWER ON
GREEN LED blinks at a fast pace 3 times when the shade is powered on.
NETWORK CONNECTION
Single GREEN or RED LED.

6
MANUAL DRY CONTACT POE SWITCH
PowerShades True PoE motors allow you to connect a manual switch to your motors. Follow these wiring and control tips to control
a single shade to a switch and multiple shades to a switch.
ONE SWITCH TO A SINGLE MOTOR
Installers will normally cut off the tip connector, strip the insulation, and connect to the respective positions using a soldering iron
or butt connector.
UP
If user clicks the UP button, the shade will move to the up (100% open)
position. If limits are not set, the shade will jog up.
DOWN
If user clicks the DOWN button, the shade will move to the down
(0% open) position. If limits are not set, the shade will jog down.
STOP
If user clicks UP or DOWN while the shade is moving, the shade will stop.
REBOOT SHADE
If both UP and DOWN are held for 10-30 seconds.
FACTORY RESET
If both UP and DOWN are held for 30+ seconds

Dry contact wires MUST be homerun to switch, NOT daisy chained. Version 2 of the PoE motor has this protection built in and will not
require use of external diodes, and will allow Dry contact Daisy Chaining.
!
7
DIODE ISOLATION OF POE MOTORS (ONE SWITCH TO A MULTIPLE MOTORS)
Diode isolation will allow multiple True PoE motor to be controlled by a single switch.
Putting the diodes in line of each of the Up/Down lines will isolate them from the other motors and allow them to work properly.
The diodes can be place at the motor, or the wall switch, as long as the orientation is correct.

MY SHADE IS ROLLING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION
In the PowerShades Dashboard, Click the Shade Name and navigate to Configure This Shade. On the right side, click Set Direction.
Limits will have to be reset.
WHERE IS THE BUTTON ON THE MOTOR?
It can be found on the motor side where the pigtail is located.
WHAT DOES THE BUTTON DO?
Good question! It's not used during installation. You can use it for a couple of different features:
WHAT IP MODE ARE POE MOTORS IN BY DEFAULT?
They are set in DHCP mode by default. If changed to static, the default IP address is 192.168.1.240.
Pressing and releasing the button will jog up or down if the limits are set.
Holding the button for 1 second will indicate which IP mode it's in - DHCP or Static.
Holding it for 3 seconds will cause the LED to begin alternating between red and green. This allows you to change the IP mode.
You will need to press the button until it turns either red for static, or green for DHCP.
Holding it for 10 seconds will cause the LED to begin flashing green. Letting go will reboot the motor.
Holding it for greater than 30 seconds will cause the LED to begin flashing red. Letting go will factory reset the motor.

CAN I SET UP A POE SHADE LOCALLY?
Yes! You will need to follow the PowerShades Config guide. It operates practically the same as the dashboard, just a little less intuitive.
It can only be used on Windows.
HOW DO I SET UP THE AUTOMATION IN THE DASHBOARD?
You will be able to find many ways to automate your True PoE shades in the PowerShades Dashboard. Access our Dashboard guide to
learn how to group your shades and set scenes and schedules for hands-free automation.
