ProductOverview
TheDGA‐LT1isaremotely‐deployedtransformermonitorwhichcanbesafelyinstalledontoanenergizedor
non‐energizedtransformertodetectandmeasuredissolvedhydrogenfoundinanelectricalpower
transformer‘sinsulatingoil.Themonitorisdesignedandconstructedtooperateinenvironmentalconditions
inPowerPlants,SwitchyardsorSubstations.
TheDGA‐LT1isdirectlymountedtoanexistingvalveonthetransformerandcirculatestransformeroilwithin
ittoprovideacontinuousreadingofhydrogeninppm.DatacanbeviewedintheQualConnex®web
applicationtotrackthehydrogenppmlevelsovertimeandcompareagainstuser‐definedcautionandalarm
settings.
TheDGA‐LT1isabatterypoweredwirelesssensorthattransmitsencryptedrawsignalsviaRFfrequencytothe
QGatewaythatareusedforcalculatinghydrogenconcentration,moistureconcentrationandtemperature.
TheDGA‐LT1measureshydrogen(H2)withoutcross‐interferencefromothergases.Hydrogenisformedunder
allknownthermalfaultconditionsinthetransformerandisoneofthefirstgasestobegenerated,makingit
anexcellentearlyindicatorofabroadrangeoffaulttypes.
TheDGA‐LT1isdesignedtobeinstalledandconfiguredbytheend‐user.Configurationofthemonitor’salarms,
settingsandoptionsisaccomplishedusingtheQualConnexwebinterface.

SystemDescription
TheDGA‐LT1providesareliablemeansofmonitoringgas(e.g.,hydrogen)concentration,temperature,and
moistureconcentrationinthedielectricinsulatingoilofelectricalequipmentatalowercostthantypical
devicesandalsoavoidstheadditionalmaterialandlabourcostsrelatingtoinstallationofpowerand
communicationscables.Thewirelesssensorisbatterypoweredandtransmitsdatawithouttheneedfor
additionalpowerorcommunicationswires,cablesorconduits.
Awebbasedcomputerapplication,providesamonitoringdashboardandnotificationsystemtoensurethat
electricalassetsincludingtransformersacrossawidegeographicalareacanbequicklyreviewedtoidentify
transformersshowingtrendsofincreasingriskoffailurewhilealsoreceivingautomatednotificationsbasedon
alertthresholds.
Thewirelessdissolvedgasanalyzerconfiguredforeasyconnectiontotransformersandotherelectrical
equipmenthavinginsulatingoilandincludessensorsformeasuringhydrogengaslevels,temperature,and
moisture.Asillustratedanddiscussedfurtherbelow,theanalyzerthreadsintodrainvalveofthetransformer.
Thesensorincludesanopenbodythatisexposedtotheoilandhasahydrogensensitivechemochromic
assemblyintheopenbody.Thecolorofthechemochromicassemblychangeswhenexposedtohydrogen.
Additionally,theanalyzerincludessensorsthatdetectthetemperatureandmoistureconcentrationinthe
bodyoftheelectricalequipment.
Theanalyzerfurtherincludesacolorsensorthatmeasuresthecolorofthechemochromicassemblydueto
changesinthehydrogenconcentrationintheinsulatingoil.Theanalyzersendtheencryptedcolor,
temperature,andmoisturemeasurementsthroughacommunicationsnetworktoremotemonitoring
equipment,suchasacomputerserver.
Warranty
QualitrolwarrantsitsGoodstobefreefromlatentdefectsinmaterialsorworkmanshipforthedurationofthe
monitoringcontractinitiatedatthedateofshipment.Additionaldetailsontermsandconditionsareprovided
inthesignedagreement.
