Amplier does
not power up.
A. Make sure the power cable is rmly connected to the power connector on the back of the amplier.
B. Verify that the fuses are not burnt. If a fuse is burnt, see the VoltPAQ-X2/X4 User Manual for fuse rating and
replacement information.
Motor/actuator is
not being driven.
A. Ensure the Enabled LED for the amplier channel being used is lit green. If the LED is red, consult the next
troubleshooting step. If the LED it not lit at all, consult the rst troubleshooting step.
B. If the VoltPAQ-X2/X4 is being used with a Quanser system, verify that all the connections illustrated in the
User Manual for that Quanser product have been made correctly.
Enabled LED
is red.
A. Verify that the fuses are not burnt. If a fuse is burnt, see the VoltPAQ-X2/X4 User Manual for fuse rating and
replacement information.
B. The amplier might be overheated. Power down the amplier and let it rest for 5 minutes.
C. If the Emergency stop switch (optionally purchased through Quanser) is connected to the amplier, make
sure the red button is in the upper position to enable the amplier. The amplier cannot be enabled when
the button is in the lower position. Twist the button to ensure it is in the enabled position.
No analog
readings from
the amplier.
A. Verify that the Power LED is lit. If this LED is not lit, the amplier is not powered or fuse replacement is required.
Consult the troubleshooting step Amplier does not power up.
B. Ensure the 5-pin mini-DIN analog cable (supplied with Quanser experiment) is rmly connected from the
amplier socket (e.g., S1 & S2 connector) to the sensor on your device (e.g., tachometer).
C. If the VoltPAQ-X2/X4 is being used with a Quanser system, verify that all the connections illustrated in the
User Manual for that Quanser product have been made correctly.
D. Conrm that the Analog Sensors RCA connector on the amplier is connected to the correct analog input
channel on the data acquisition (DAQ) device.
E. Ensure the analog input channels on your data acquisition (DAQ) device are working. Refer to your DAQ User
Manual for information on how to test it.
F. If the sensor is working, then the Analog Sensor Input connector “S1 and S2”, “ S3” or “S4” socket may be
defective. Try using a dierent Analog Sensor Input.
