10 Watt Guitar Amplifier
Your RadioShack 10 Watt Guitar Amplifier
can be used with sound sources such as an
electric guitar, keyboard, or microphone. The
amplifier is compact and portable, and you
can set it on almost any flat surface while
you practice or entertain. It provides 10 watts
RMS (Root Mean Square) for optimum
sound quality, and has these features:
Full-Range 8-Inch Speaker — for excellent
sound reproduction.
Rotary Volume, Base, Midrange, and Tre-
ble Controls — let you easily control the
sound.
1/4-Inch Input Jack — provides easy con-
nection to an instrument, or to a microphone
for use as a portable PA.
Headphone Jack — lets you connect head-
phones for private listening.
Distortion Control — lets you select a clear
sound or add the desired amount of distor-
tion to match your musical style.
Carry Handle — makes the amplifier easy to
carry. Cautions:
• To prevent electrical shock, any AC-
powered equipment that you connect to
the amplifier should be connected to a
3-prong (grounded) AC outlet.
• To avoid damaging the amplifier’s
speaker, connect the sound source to
the amplifier before you connect the
amplifier to power.

CONNECTING A SOUND
SOURCE
Use a phono cable with a 1/4-inch (6.35 mm)
plug (such as RadioShack Cat. No. 42-2473
or 42-978, not supplied) to connect an electric
guitar, keyboard, or microphone to the INPUT
jack on the amplifier.
Caution: Be sure to turn VOLUME to 0before
you connect or disconnect a guitar’s cable to
the amplifier.
Note: For a smaller keyboard, you might need
a 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch plug adapter (Cat. No.
274-367).
CONNECTING HEADPHONES
To listen privately or to monitor the sound
source, connect low-impedance headphones
(not supplied) with a 1/4-inch (6.35 mm) plug to
the PHONES jack on the amplifier. Your local
RadioShack store sells a wide selection of
headphones.
Listening Safely
• To protect your hearing, follow these
guidelines when you use headphones.
• Set the volume to the lowest setting
before you begin listening. After you
begin listening, adjust the volume to a
comfortable level.
• Do not listen at extremely high volume
levels. Extended high-volume listening
can lead to permanent hearing loss.
• Once you set the volume, do not increase
it. Over time, your ears adapt to the
volume level, so a volume level that does
not cause discomfort might still damage
your hearing.
CONNECTING TO POWER
Make sure VOLUME is set to 0, then connect
the AC power cord to a standard AC outlet.
TURNING POWER ON/OFF
1. Turn VOLUME to 0.
2. Press POWER up to turn on the amplifier.
The power indicator lights.
3. Press POWER down to turn off the ampli-
fier.
ADJUSTING THE SOUND
Rotate TREBLE clockwise to boost or counter-
clockwise to cut high-range (treble) frequen-
cies (around 5 kHz). Boosting treble gives
your sound a clear high tone.
Rotate BASS clockwise to boost or counter-
clockwise to cut low-range (bass) frequencies
(around 80 Hz). Boosting the bass gives you a
heavier low tone.
Rotate MID clockwise to boost or counter-
clockwise to cut midrange frequencies
(around 800 Hz). Boosting the midrange gives
you a harmonic-rich sound.
Rotate VOLUME clockwise to increase or
counterclockwise to decrease the volume.
Rotate DISTORTION until you hear the amount
of distortion you want.
Here are examples of how to use the control
settings for different sounds. Experiment with
the settings until you find the combination that
best suits your style.

USING THE AMPLIFIER AS A
PORTABLE PUBLIC
ADDRESS (PA) SYSTEM
You can use the amplifier as a portable PA
system with a directional dynamic microphone
(not supplied) with a 1/4-inch plug. Simply in-
sert the microphone’s plug into the INPUT
jack.
CARE
Keep the amplifier dry; if it gets wet, wipe it dry
immediately. Use and store the amplifier only
in normal temperature environments. Handle
the amplifier carefully; do not drop it. Keep the
amplifier away from dust and dirt, and wipe it
with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it look-
ing new.
Modifying or tampering with the amplifier’s in-
ternal components can cause a malfunction
and might invalidate its warranty. If your am-
plifier is not performing as it should, take it to
your local RadioShack store for assistance.
Caution: You might permanently damage
your speaker by cleaning it with a vacuum
cleaner. Use a feather duster or a soft loose
cloth instead.
