Waarschuwing
Deze apparatuur is uitgerust met een hoogspanning EL lamp onder de folie en met
hoogspanning elektronica in de behuizing om deze lamp aan te sturen.
Maak geen krassen of andere beschadigingen op de folie en maak het apparaat niet open tijdens
gebruik. Er is elektrocutie gevaar als het apparaat ondeugdelijk wordt gebruikt..
Als er ooit service aan het apparaat moet worden gedaan en het apparaat moet in geopende
toestand worden ingeschakeld, verwijder dan jumper P1 om de hoogspanning uit te schakelen en
zo het gevaar voor een elektrisch schok te vermijden!
Zie tekening achterin deze handleiding voor de locatie van de jumper.

Algemene beschrijving / technische gegevens
1 Leveringsomvang Sigma 700
In de verpakking treft u de volgende zaken aan:
- Manual
- Zichtinstrument Sigma 700
- Montageset
Controleer of de bovengenoemde items aanwezig zijn. Is dit niet het geval, neem dan zo
snel mogelijk contact op met uw dealer.
Lees voor het installeren van de Sigma 700 aandachtig deze manual door. Als er vragen
of onduidelijkheden zijn, neem dan contact op met uw dealer.

Installatievoorschrift
GE RUIK GEEN ANDERE DAN DE VOORGESCHREVEN POSTEN UIT DE
SIGMA LIJN.
1 Montage zichtinstrument
Het zichtinstrument wordt zodanig geplaatst dat deze gemakkelijk bedienbaar is voor de
roerganger. Er moet voldoende ruimte overblijven om de bekabeling te leggen. Een montage
tekening is te vinden achter in deze manual.
Op de intercom kan de éénmansbediening RZ 707 en de zwanenhalsmicrofoon RZ 704
worden aangesloten. De standaardintercom is direct geschikt voor 10 posten.

Aansluitingen
K1: Voeding Sigma 700
Sluit de voedingsspanning aan op connector K1 met een afgeschermde kabel van
minimaal 2 maal 2,5 mm
2
.
K2: Lokale aansluitingen
K2-1 t/m 3: de externe luidspreker. (optioneel)
Deze kan via een afgeschermde kabel aangesloten worden op connector K2.
Het vermogen van de luidspreker moet minimaal 10 Watt RMS bedragen en een
impedantie van minimaal 8 Ω hebben.
De aansluitingen zijn in bovenstaande figuur aangegeven.

K2-5 t/m 6: de voetschakelaar.
Hierop moet de (voet)schakelaar aangesloten worden.

K2-7 t/m 9: relais contacten.
Dit relais schakelt wanneer er een oproep binnenkomt en nog niet geaccepteerd is en er
nog geen andere verbinding met het desbetreffende station is geaccepteerd.
Dit is een potentiaal vrij contact. De aansluitingen zijn in bovenstaande figuur
aangegeven.
K2-10 t/m 12: de microfoon.
Deze moet via een afgeschermde kabel aangesloten worden op connector K2.

Het is belangrijk er voor te zorgen dat beide aders die op pin 11 en pin 12 worden
aangesloten vrij zijn van massa!
K3 : De communicatielijn .
De toestellen worden onderling met elkaar verbonden via een afgeschermde (bij
voorkeur TP) kabel 2 maal 0,5 mm

.
Deze worden op K3 aangesloten waarbij goed op de polariteit van de aansluitingen
moet worden gelet! Zie ook de markeringen bij de connector en in bovenstaande figuur.
K3 kan worden gebruikt om de kabel “door te lussen”. B.v. “inkomend “ op pin 1 & 2
en “uitgaand” op pin 3 & 4.

Instellingen
1 Aantal posten.
Om de lijn-impedantie en hiermee de kwaliteit van de signalen binnen het systeem op een
acceptabele waarde te houden moet met dipswitch S1 een instelling worden gemaakt
afhankelijk van het aantal posten in het totale systeem.
Gemakshalve is in onderstaande tabel aangegeven welke schakelaartjes moeten worden
gezet bij een bepaald aantal. Zie afbeeldingen achterin deze handleiding voor locatie
dipswitch.
Deze instelling moet in de hoofdpost worden gedaan. Als er meerdere hoofdposten in het
systeem gebruikt worden dan is het raadzaam om alleen in post 1 de instelling te doen en in
de andere posten alle schakelaars uit te laten staan.
2 Adressering. (Instelling eigen postnummer)
Elke post moet zijn eigen unieke nummer krijgen. Geef de hoofdpost altijd het nummer 1
(één). Deze instelling moet door middel van S2 geschieden. Zie afbeeldingen achterin
deze handleiding voor locatie dipswitch.
Als er meerdere hoofdposten in het systeem zijn opgenomen geef dan de belangrijkste
hoofdpost, meestal die op de brug, het nummer 1. Dit is een belangrijk gegeven, omdat
elke nevenpost (RZ718) bij het maken van een oproep vanzelf bij post 1 uitkomt.
Uiteraard moeten deze instellingen voor elke post worden gedaan. Geef voor de
gebruiker duidelijk aan welk nummer op welke locatie staat.

1. Aanzetten / dimmen
De intercom wordt aangezet door de verlichtingsknop rechtsom te draaien.
Uitschakelen geschiedt door deze knop helemaal linksom te draaien totdat er een klik
volgt.
De verlichting is minimaal EL-lamp en indicators) indien de knop linksom staat en wordt
sterker naarmate de knop meer rechtsom gedraaid wordt. In de uiterst stand rechtsom
schakelt de EL-lamp uit om een langere levensduur van de EL te garanderen.
2. Oproepen/oproep accepteren.
Door een toets genummerd 1 t/m 10 in te drukken wordt de post met dat nummer
opgeroepen. De bijbehorende indicator gaat aan wanneer de post de oproep bevestigt. Op
een Sigma 700 post moet een oproep bevestigd worden door het drukken van de toets
waarvan de indicator knippert. Op een nevenpost wordt een oproep altijd automatisch
bevestigd.
Door de voetschakelaar te bedienen na een bevestigde oproep kan nu naar de opgeroepen
post worden gesproken, na het loslaten van de voetschakelaar kan naar die post geluisterd
worden.
Vanaf de initiërende hoofdpost kunnen ook meerdere nevenposten opgeroepen worden
door het drukken van de gewenste postnummers. In dit geval heeft de voetschakelaar geen
functie meer en ontstaat de situatie van een beperkte algemene oproep.
Om er zeker van te zijn dat de lijn vrij is voordat er een oproep wordt gedaan, moet altijd
vooraf altijd een keer op de verbreektoets worden gedrukt.
3. Algemene oproep.
Door op de te drukken worden alle posten opgeroepen en komen deze automatisch
in luistermode te staan. Alleen de hoofdpost kan nu spreken. Na deze oproep moet de
verbinding door middel van de verbroken worden.
eperkte algemene oproep.
Er kunnen meerdere nevenposten tegelijk opgeroepen worden door de desbetreffende
toetsen na elkaar in te drukken. De opgeroepen nevenposten komen hierbij ook
automatisch in de luistermode te staan. Na deze oproep moet de verbinding door middel
van de .verbroken worden.
4. Volume luisteren
Met de draaiknop kan het luistervolume ingesteld worden.

Probleem oplossing.
- Post doet niets: Sigma 700 (hoofdpost) staat uit. Voedingsspanning controleren bij post en
eventueel er afhalen en er weer opzetten. Alle posten hebben een zelfherstellende zekering.
- Gebroken spraakverkeer: Er wordt te hard of te dichtbij in de microfoon gesproken.
Harmonisch geruis aanwezig van wind of resonanties. Post afschermen of verplaatsen kan
een oplossing zijn.
- Oproepen en/of luisteren/spreken acties van de voetschakelaar komen niet door: Zie
gebroken spraakverkeer. Actie herhalen.

1 Scope of delivery of Sigma 700
The packing shall contain the following items:

Check whether the above-mentioned items are present or not. If not, contact your
dealer as soon as possible.
Before installing the Sigma 700, carefully read this manual through. If you have any
questions or need any clarifications, contact your dealer.
2 Description of items in the packing

The manual contains information concerning the connection, the functionality,
and the operation of the Sigma 700.
4 Display unit of the Sigma 700
- The supply voltage of this device is 18-36 Vdc.

Rules for installation
USE ONLY PRESCRI ED ITEMS FROM THE SIGMA RANGE OF
PRODUCTS.
1 Installation of the display unit
The display unit instrument installation should be installed in such a manner that the
helmsman can easily operate it. There must be sufficient room for laying the cable. An
installation drawing may be found at the back of this manual.
A single-person operation system RZ 707A and a gooseneck microphone RZ 704 can be
connected to the intercom. The standard intercom is suitable for directly connecting ten
items.

Connections
K1: Power supply to the Sigma 700
Connect the supply voltage to the connector K1 with a screened cable of at least 2 times
2.5 mm

K2: Local connections
K2-1 to 3: The external loudspeaker. (optional)
This can be connected to the connector K2 via a screened cable.
The power of the loudspeaker should be at least 10 Watt RMS and should have an
impedance of at least 8 Ω.
The connections have been indicated in the figure above.

K2-5 to 6: The footswitch.
The (foot)switch should be connected to this.
The connections have been indicated in the figure above.
K2-7 to 9: relay contacts.
This relay is activated when a call comes in and has not been accepted as yet, and no
other connection to the related station has been accepted.
This is a potential-free contact. The connections have been indicated in the figure
above.
K2-10 to 12: The microphone.
This should be connected to the connector K2 via a screened cable.
The connections have been indicated in the figure above.
It is important to ensure that both the wires that are connected to pin 11 and pin 12 are
free of earth!
K3 : The communication line .
The devices are connected to each other via a screened (preferably TP) cable of 2 times
0.5 mm
2
.
These are connected to K3, whereby the polarity of the connections should be carefully
selected! Also see the markings on the connector and in the figure above.
K3 can be used in order to “loop through” the cable. For example “incoming” at pin 1
& 2 and “outgoing” at pin 3 & 4.

Settings
1 Number of posts.
In order to maintain the line impedance and therefore the quality of the signals within the
system at an acceptable level, a setting should be made with the dipswitch S1 depending on
the number of posts in the system as a whole.
For convenience, the following table shows the types of switches that should be used
for a specific number. See the diagrams at the back of this manual for the location of
the dipswitch.
This setting should be made in the main post. If there are several posts in the system, it is
advisable to only make the setting in post 1 and to let the switches in the other posts
remain switched off.
2 Addressing. (Setting one’s own post number)
Each post must be assigned a unique number. Always assign the number 1 (one) to the
main post. This setting should be done with S2. See the diagrams at the back of this
manual for the location of the dipswitch.
If there are several main posts in the system, assign the number 1 to the most important
main post, which is in most cases on the bridge. This is an important data, since every
subsidiary post (RZ718) is first displayed at post 1 when a call is made. Obviously, these
settings should be made for each post for the user; clearly indicate which number relates to
which location.

Operating Instructions
1. Switching-on / dimming
The intercom is switched on by turning the lighting button in the clockwise direction.
It can be switched-off by turning it fully anti-clockwise until there is a click.
The lighting (EL-lamp and indicators) is at the lowest level if the button is to the left and it
becomes stronger as the button is rotated toward the right. In the extreme clockwise
position, the EL-lamp switches off in order to ensure a longer life for the EL.
2. Calling/acceptance of call.
By pressing a button numbered from 1 to 10, a call is made to the post with that number.
The related indicator switches on when the post confirms the call. On a Sigma 700 post, a
call should be confirmed by pressing the key the indicator of which is flashing. A call is
always automatically confirmed at a secondary post.
By operating the foot switch after a confirmed call, one can speak to the called post, and
after releasing the foot switch, one can listen to the posts.
From the initiating main post, one can also call several subsidiary posts by pressing the
desired post numbers. In such case, the foot switch is not operative any longer and a
limited general call situation is created.
In order to ensure that the line is free before a call is made, the interruption key
should be pressed once in advance.
3. General call.
By pressing the key, all the posts are called and shall automatically go into listening
mode. Only the main posts can now speak. After this call, the connection may be broken
using the key.
Limited general call.
One can call several secondary posts simultaneously by pressing the related keys one after
the other. The secondary posts called shall also automatically go into the listening mode.
After this call, the connection may be broken using the key.
4. Listening volume
The listening volume can be set using the rotary button .

Troubleshooting.
- Post not operating: The Sigma 700 (main post) is switched off. Check the supply voltage of
the post and if necessary switch it off and then on again. All the posts have a self-resetting
fuse.
- Interrupted speech traffic: Speech is taking place too close to the microphone. There is
harmonic noise due to wind or resonance. Shielding or shifting the post are possible
solutions.
- Calling and/or listening/speaking actions of the footswitch do not have any effect: See
under ‘Interrupted speech traffic’. Then repeat the action.
