Click on internet icon on mBOX home screen to go to internet access screen. This will take you to
following screen. From here one can do a search or type the URL directly in address bar. Internet access
experience on mBOX is similar to internet access on your laptop ordesktop or tablet device. However WAN
speed (speed of your wireless card and SIM car) can make a difference in speed of downloading and
uploading contents and pages.
mBOX allows full accessto internet if WAN and LAN connections are established. LAN connection ispartof
mBOX system but WAN connection is established only through 2G/3G/4G data card. User is responsible for
acquiring the USB dongle and SIM card with proper configurations that are necessary to access internet on
mBOX.
Figure 7: Internet acess screen
Once both WAN and LAN connections are established, mBOX provides full features internet to each touch
screen separately and independently. This means each user can use internet for their purpose without
depending on otheruser(s).
mBOX allows use of internet in a moving car assuming 2G/3G/4G dongle has operational strength signal.
Strong signal will provide good connection& weak signal will provide slow connection.

connection respectively.
11.1. Power indicator Icon
Power indicator is used for troubleshooting purposes only by repair and maintenance engineers. Users
should notneed to use this icon.
11.2. LAN (WIFI) connection indicator Icon
mBOX usesWIFI to wirelessly connectandroid touch screens(client devicesin your seats) to mBOX server .
This connection is called LANconnection. Yourandroid screens indicate the status of this LAN connection
for that particular client device. Each client device tracks its own connection with the server.

mBOX User Manual Page 16 of 19
Rainbow Media Solutions
mBOX User Manual
LAN indicator shows status of LAN signal. If it is blue like this , then LAN is working. Instead if it is
different color (such as red) like this , then WIFI connection to this client device is not working. Please
check power supply connection to the server. Sever needs to be ON for the LAN (WIFI) connection to work.
If server is powered ON and the LAN indicator is still not of blue color then a more involved troubleshooting
may be required (which may need support from Rainbow). Please check troubleshooting section of this
manual for morehelp in troubleshooting LANconnection.
11.3. WAN connection indicator or or or or
mBOX uses 2G/3G/4G connection through wireless dongle to provide connectivity between server in your
car and outside world. This connectivity is required for internet and live chat and audio/video
conferencing. This connection from mBOXserver to outside world is called WAN connection.
The 3rd icon on top row from left is the WAN connection indicator icon. This icon shows status of WAN
connectivity.
If WAN indicator icon is dark blue color as then the WAN connectivity is very good
If WAN indicator icon color is light blue as then WAN connectivity is better than average
If WAN indicator icon color is dark green as then WAN connectivity is average
If WAN indicatoricon color is greenish yellow as then WAN connectivity is below average
If WAN indicatoricon color is yellow as then WAN connectivity is very weak (but still alive)
If WAN indicator icon color is red as then WAN is not connected. This will happen if Wireless
dongle is not connected or 2G/3G/4G signals are too weak or absent. 2G/3G/4G connection can
be absent because of wireless tower problems.

12. Troubleshooting
This section provides information about basic troubleshooting of mBOX. If simple steps described in this
section don’t fix the problem, please contact Rainbow support.
12.1. Power cycle mBOX
Power cycling (Switching the system OFF and switching it back ON) should fix most of the common
problems assuming user has connected necessary components (2G/3G/4G wirelessdongle for internet and
video, audio, text conferencing and USB flash storage device for on demand video and audio.
Method to power cycle mBOX
Power OFF mBOX using main POWER switch. Waitfora fewseconds.
Switch on the main POWER switch. Wait for a few minutes for server and clients to boot up.
Check if LAN and/or WAN connections are good (check LAN and WAN indicators).
12.2. Troubleshooting LAN connection
LAN (WIFI and Ethernet) connectivity is very important for mBOX functioning. LAN connects mBOX server
to client devices providing important functionality, control and data.
LAN indicator is the 2rd icon from left on the top right of mBOX HOME screen. It looks like this or
and shows status of LAN connection for each client device separately.
If LAN indicator is blue like this then there is no problem with LAN connectivity
If LAN indicator is red then this means LAN connectivity isnot alive.
oIf this happens Power cycle mBOX as described in section 12.1 above.
oIf Power Cycling mBOXdoesn’t fix theproblem, please contact Rainbow support.
12.3. Troubleshooting WAN connection
WAN (2G/3G/4G wireless connection) is needed for internet browsing, video, audio conferencing and text
based chat functions. Without this connectivity being alive, internet and video, audio & chat conferencing
functions do not function in mBOXsystem.

mBOX User Manual Page 18 of 19
Rainbow Media Solutions
mBOX User Manual
WAN indicator (this icon in different colors) is the third icon from left on the top right of mBOX
HOME scree.
If the WAN indicator is blue/light blue/green/light green/yellow / / / /
, this means WAN connection is alive.
If WAN connectivity is alive but you face data speed related problems (slow internet, broken
audio during audio conference, broken or frozen video during video conference, slow chat
response in text chat or simply slow internet experience), then this indicates data bandwidth
limitation of the wireless data card (2G/3G/4G). These problems are generally related to
coverage problems of cell phone towers by your data provider. These problems can occur in
certain time of the day as well when cell phone traffic is very high.
oThe problems will go away when you move to a place that has good data reception
quality (good tower coverage). If you have data card and SIM with good data speed and
when WAN indicator shows strong signal strength (dark blue like this ), then you
should expecta good WANperformance.hasgood strength.
oRainbow has tested some data cards and SIM cards with mBOX systems to verify their
functioning. Using data cards and data SIMs recommended by Rainbow may result in a
better experience. However, since data speed depends on too many factors governed by
cell phone provider company, there are always chances of slow data network from cell
phone tower.
If WAN indicator is red this means WAN connection is not alive
oPlease check that 2G/3G/4G wireless (internet) dongle is connected to its slot
in mBOX properly. To double check you could remove the dongle and plug it again.
oIf wireless dongle is connected properly and WAN connection is not alive,
please check if you have sufficient data balance available in you SIM. If not please buy
more data credit and try again.
oIf wireless dongle is connected properly and has sufficient data balance and WAN
connection is still not alive then power cycle mBOX as described in section 12.1 above.
oIf above steps don’t fix theproblem, please contact Rainbow support.
