Identify Your Pole
1 Pick out the three strongest poles for the tripod.
2 Label them D, R, L (Door, Right, Left)
3 Set aside the next strongest pole for canvas lifting (this will be marked “x” on
following diagrams)
4 Set aside the two skinniest, weakest poles for the smoke flaps.

Set the Tripod and Place Poles
1
Raise the tripod by walking up under poles L & R.
2 Swing the R outer pole out to an equally spaced position
between D & L.
3 Set the remaining poles up, leaning into the supporting
tripod, using your pole count diagrams as a guide.
Note: Leave a gap at “X” for your Canvas Pole.
1

3
Prepare the Tripod
1 Spread the cover canvas flat with the outside facing up.
2 Lay L&R poles at edge, intersecting the middle of the
smoke flap.
3 Lay pole D over L&R at a 90 degree angle over the tie flap.
4 Tie the three poles together where the poles intersect.
5 Allow 15 feet of extra rope to hang from the tripod.

Front Sticks and Smoke Flaps
1 Pin overlapped grommets together with provided dowels.
2 Set bottom of smoke flap poles towards X side of tipi, and slip
each pole into a smoke flap loop.
NOTE: To close the smoke flaps, uncross the poles and walk them
towards the front of the tipi.
1
2
Set Up Cover
1 Put the butt of pole X in the space remaining at the rear of the frame opposite
the D pole.
2 Release fabric from tie and gently walk each edge around poles.
3 Adjust as needed to insure the door is located to the left of Pole D.

3
Stake and FInish
1 Gently spread the poles until most of the cover slack is out.
2 Cut 12” lengths from your remaining rope. Tie each into a loop.
3 Loop rope through perimeter grommets. Stake through each rope
loop (NOT the grommet!), until the perimeter is taut.
4 Install the front door in bottom pair of front grommets.

Place and Wrap the Canvas
1 Slide the reserved X pole underneath the spread out canvas.
2 Shift the pole so the butt projects about 4” out.
3 Tie the tongue rope securely to the pole.
4 Roll both edges inward towards the lifting pole.
5 Use a short rope to tie a bow knot around the loose canvas.

Tie the Bundle
1 Grasping the trailing 15-feet of rope, walk around the perimeter, wrapping
the top bunch of poles five times or more.
2 Spiral the rest of the rope down the length of one tripod pole.
