Safety Precautions
• Never open the cabinet under any
circumstances. Any repairs or internal
adjustments should be made only by a
trained technician.
• Never operate this product with the cabinet
removed.
• Do not use your System immediately after
transporting it from a cold place to a warm
place, as condensation may cause the system
to malfunction.
• Keep your unit away from humid areas and
abnormally hot places.
• Do not touch the player with wet hands. If
any liquid enters the player cabinet, take
the player to a trained technician for
inspection.
• This compact disc player uses a laser to read
the music on the disc. The laser mechanism
corresponds to the cartridge and stylus of a
record player. Although this product
incorporates a laser pick-up lens, it is
completely safe when operated according to
directions.
• Discs rotate at high speed inside the player.
Do not use damaged, warped, or cracked
discs.
• Do not touch the pick-up lens which is
located inside the disc compartment. To
keep dust from collecting on the pick-up
lens, do not leave the compartment door
open for an extended period of time. If the
lens becomes dirty, clean it with a soft
brush, or use an air blower brush designed
for camera lenses.
• The apparatus shall not be exposed to
dripping or splashing and that no objects
filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be
placed on the apparatus.
•No naked flame sources, such as lighted
candles, should be placed on the apparatus.
•Attention should be drawn to the
environmental aspects of battery disposal.

Before You Begin
Useful Advice
•Do not use your system immediately after
transporting it from a cold place to a warm
place, as condensation may cause the system
to malfunction. If moisture forms inside this
system, it may not operate properly. To
correct the problem, turn off the power and
wait about 30 minutes for moisture to
evaporate.
•This system is fitted with a laser. To avoid
accidents, it is to be opened by qualified
technicians only.
•Never leave the tray open as dust could
cover the laser lens and/or the tray could be
bumped into accidentally.
•Do not place the system near wet areas such
as bathrooms and pool side. Avoid storing
the system at humid places or near
abnormally heated areas.
•Power is continuously supplied to the
system. To disconnect power completely,
unplug the power cord from the power
outlet.

AC Power
Plug the power supply cord into the AC power
jack on the back of the unit, and into an AC
power supply outlet that accepts the plug
supplied with your unit.

Battery Power
You can insert 6 D-sized alkaline batteries (not
supplied) and you can take your stereo just
about anywhere.
•Open the battery compartment door on the
bottom of the unit by pressing down on the
tab and pulling out the cover.
•Before inserting the batteries, observe the
polarities (that is, + and -) of the battery,
then relate the polarities to the engraved
diagram located on the battery
compartment door. Insert batteries in the
battery compartment. 3AA-sized batteries
(not supplied) are needed to keep radio
station memory.
Note that the AC line cord must be
unplugged from the jack on the back of the
unit to operate on batteries.
Important Battery Information
• Remove the batteries to avoid leakage if
you do not use your system for more than
one month.
• Discard leaky batteries immediately as
leaking batteries may cause skin burns or
other personal injuries. Dispose of batteries
in the proper manner, according to
provincial and local regulations.

What’s so special about this
audio CD / mp3 disc player?
Besides traditional audio CDs, this player is
meant to play mp3 files encoded on a CD-ROM.
You can store up to 12 hours of music on a single
disc (at 128kbps).
Creating mp3 CDs requires the use of a computer
with a CD-R / CD-RW writer and a music
management software (MusicMatch Jukebox
recommended).
You may download MusicMatch Jukebox
(www.musicmatch.com), and follow the
installation and operation instructions in order
to enjoy mp3 playback.
This unit is compatible with
audio CD-R/RW discs.

• Use .mp3 as the extension when
converting audio files into mp3 for saving
onto CD-R(W) or CD-ROM, e.g.
Rocky08.mp3. Do not use any other
extension e.g. .doc, .pdf.
• Do not use the .mp3 extension for other
text or non-audio data files as this may
result in serious malfunction and harmful
noise interference.
• In order to get audio CD quality, you need
to record your mp3 CD at 128 kbps. You
can record from 32 kbps to 320kbps.

Using Presets
1. Press STOP / BAND to select radio band.
2. Press FOLDER or repeatedly to access
the desired preset stations.

Selecting CD Mode
When the unit is turned off, press ON /
STANDBY to turn the unit on to the previously
used mode.
Press RADIO / CD / AUX to select CD mode.
Loading Disc
1. Press the CD OPEN button to slide disc tray
out.
2. Place a disc on the disc tray with the label
side facing up.
3. Push the disc tray back in.
“TOC READ” shows on the display when the
unit is reading the disc.
If the disc is a normal audio CD, the display
shows the total number of tracks and total
track time on the disc.
If the disc is a mp3 / WMA disc, the display
shows the “mp3” or “WMA” icon during
playback.
In CD stop mode, the total number of
folders and files on the disc are also
displayed.
Play and Pause
1. In stop mode, press PLAY/PAUSE to
begin CD playback.
The icon is displayed.
2. During CD playback, press PLAY/PAUSE
to pause playback. Press again to resume.
The II icon is displayed in pause mode.
Skip and Search
1. Press TRACK/TUNE or to skip to the
previous or next track respectively.
2. Press and hold TRACK/TUNE or to
search quickly current track backward or
forward respectively.
Stop Playback
Press STOP to stop playback.
mp3 File System
•This unit adopts a 2-layer folder system,
only the first layer subfolder number in a
mp3 disc will be counted; All subsequent
folders and files will be re-organised.
•Empty folders will not be shown when
browsing through the disc.
•512 folders and files are supported.

ID3 (mp3 CDs only)
During mp3 CD playback, press ID3 to enable
ID3 display mode. The ID3 icon shows on
the display.
If the current track has ID3 tag, the title, artist
and album name scrolls across the display.
If the current track does not have ID3, “NO TAG”
is displayed.
Press ID3 again to disable ID3 function and the
display returns to show the current folder and
file number.
Select a folder
In stop mode:
In stop mode, the display shows the total
number of folders and files on the disc.
• Press FOLDER to skip to the next folder
display folder number.
• Press FOLDER to skip to the previous
folder and display the folder number.
In playback mode:
1. Press FOLDER to play the first track in
the next folder.
2. Press FOLDER to play the first track in
the previous folder.
3. Press TRACK/TUNE to go back to the
previous track within the same folder. Or
press TRACK/TUNE to go to the next
track within the same folder.
4. When playing the last track of the current
folder, pressing TRACK/TUNE will bring
you to the first track of the next folder.
Playback Mode
In CD / mp3 / WMA mode, press CD MODE
repeatedly to select among:
•REPEAT - Repeats current track.
•REPEAT FOLDER - Repeats all files in the
current folder. (mp3 / WMA only)
•REPEAT ALL - Repeats the entire disc.
• - Random playback.
•Off - Normal playback.

Creating the Program
For normal audio CDs:
1. In CD stop mode, press PROG. to enter
program mode.
The MEMORY icon shows on the display.
2. Press TRACK/TUNE or to select the
track to be stored.
3. Press PROG. to store the selected track.
4. Repeat step 2 and 3 to continue
programming.
5. Press PLAY/PAUSE in program mode to
start program playback.
Press STOP to exit program creating
mode.
For mp3 / WMA CDs:
1. In CD stop mode, press PROG. to enter
program mode.
The MEMORY icon shows on the display.
2. The FOLDER icon and number flashes on the
display. Press FOLDER UP or to
select the folder and press PROG..
3. Press TRACK/TUNE or to select the
track from the selected folder to be stored.
4. Press PROG. to store the selected track.
5. Repeat step 2 and 4 to continue
programming.
6. Press PLAY/PAUSE in program mode to
start program playback.

AUX
Connect one end of the RCA cable (not included)
to the AUX IN L / R connector on the main unit
and the other end to the AUX Out connector on
an external source. Make sure the colours of the
cables match the connectors.
Select AUX mode by pressing RADIO / CD / AUX.

Solution
•Unplug the unit for a moment, and then plug it back in.
•Check the outlet by plugging in another device
•Adjust volume setting.
•Make sure you’ve selected the correct function
•Adjust the antenna for better reception
•Try turning off electrical appliances near the unit, such as hair dryers,
vacuum cleaners, or fluorescent lights
•Make sure you’ve put a CD in the tray
•Make sure the CD’s label is facing up
•Try another CD
•Make sure that Pause mode is not activated
•Make sure CD function is selected
•Clean the CD (as explained in “Maintenance”)
•Check CD for warping, scratches, or other damage
•Check for vibration or shock that may affect the unit; move the set if
necessary.
•Switch to another function and then back to CD.
•Clean the disc.
•Make sure files are saved under .mp3 extension. e.g. Rocky08.mp3
•Check that the recorded bit rate is within 32kbps and 320kbps.
•When using mixed mode CD or CD-Enhanced disc, only the audio CD
tracks can be played.
•Make sure the files are in MPEG 1/2 layer 3 format.

In case of misfunction due to electrostatic discharge just reset the product (disconnect and reconnect of
power source may be required) to resume normal operation.

Cleaning the exterior
• Disconnect the system from AC power
before cleaning the exterior of the unit with
a soft dust cloth
• Clean the exterior with a soft clean cloth or
slightly moistened chamois leather. DO NOT
use solvents as it may cause damage to the
unit.
Handling CDs
• Do not touch the signal surfaces. Hold CDs
by the edges, or by one edge and the hole.
• Do not affix labels or adhesive tapes to the
label surfaces. Do not scratch or damage the
label.
• CDs rotate at high speeds inside the player.

• Make sure CDs are stored in their original
case after use. Keep them away from damp,
humid or abnormally heated places.
Cleaning CDs
• Dirty CDs can cause poor sound quality.
Always keep CDs clean by wiping them
gently with a soft cloth from the inner
edge toward the outer perimeter.
• If a CD becomes dirty, wet a soft cloth in
water, wring it out well, wipe the dirt away
gently, and then remove any water drops
with a dry cloth.
• Do not use record cleaning sprays or
antistatic agents on CDs. Also, never clean
CDs with benzene, thinner, or other volatile
solvents which may cause damage to disc
surface.
CD Lens Care
• When your CD lens gets dirty it can also
cause the system to output poor sound
quality. To clean the lens you will need to
purchase a CD lens cleaner which can
maintain the output sound quality of your
system. For instructions on cleaning the CD
lens, refer to the ones accompanying the
lens cleaner.

What your warranty covers:
• Defects in materials or workmanship.
For how long after your purchase:
• One year from date of purchase.
The warranty period for rental units begins with the first rental or 45 days from date of shipment to the
rental firm, whichever comes first.
What we will do:
• Provide you with a new, or at our option, a refurbished unit. The exchange unit is under warranty
for the remainder of the original product’s warranty period.
• Proof of purchase in the form of a bill of sale or receipted invoice which is evidence that the product
is within the warranty period must be presented to obtain warranty service. For rental firms, proof of
first rental is also required.
How to make a warranty claim:
• Properly pack your unit. Include any cables, etc., which were originally provided with the product.
We recommend using the original carton and packing materials.
• Include evidence of purchase date such as the bill of sale. Also print your name and address and a
description of the defect. Send via standard UPS or its equivalent to:
