lf you want
your
Scanner

The PRO-2001 will constantly
scaneachchannelinsequence;whena
signalappears
on oneof thechannels,
the Receiverwill lock ontothat
channel
and
you will hear
thesignal.

The PR0-2001hasa switchable
Scan
DELAY which virtuallyeli-
minatesmissedreplies.
The circuit "waits" on the channel
you are
monitoring
for two secondsaftera messagehasended;if no further
messageis received
by then,scanning
isresumed.DELAY functions
inAUTO scanning
mode
andSearch
mode

Valid Frequency
You can enterany frequency
into the memoryof your PRO-2001
within the six bands
specified
under Frequency
Coverage
(Page
3).
However,
you should
realize
that the programmable
frequencies
are
in 5 kHz stepsin the 30-501144-174 MHz range,andin 12.5k1z
stepsin the 430-512 MHz range.
lf youtry to enter an"in-between"
frequency,
the next valid and lower frequency
will be enteredor
programmed.
Example:
ifyou try to enter161.9102,
the
closest
lower
frequency
that'svalid,
161.9100,
willbeentered.
lf you try to entera frequency
which is
outside
the six-bandtuning
range,
" Error " will be displayed.

The seven digit displaylets
you know what'sgoing
on at all times.
It's especially
important
when
you're
entering
a frequency,as
it lets
you check to seethat you enteredthe correct key sequence.Press

Note that the frequency you enter will be stored

USEOF
THE
MONITORKEY
The MONITOR key lets
you check
a frequency for activity
without
actually
storing
it in oneof the 16 channels.
Just
push
PROGRAM
Key,
enter
thedesiredfrequency
and
press
MONITOR.
Youcannow
listen
to thisfrequency for aslong
as
you like-without
disturbing
any
of the
frequencies
stored
inthe scanner!
But that's
just the beginning.
You canalsoreturn
to the scanning
mode
(press
SCANNER),listen
to any
orallof the
16
channels
there-
and then returnto the channel
you placed
in the Monitormemory.
Just
press
PROGRAM
and
MONITOR
and
you're
back
on
this
"17th
channel
".
Unlike
the 16 scannerchannels,
theMonitor
memoryisNOTretained
when
thesetis
turned
off.

LIMITS
OFOPERATIONAL
FREOUENCIES
The six-band
tuning rangeof your PR0-2001
is
permanently
stored
in the Receiver's
integrated-circuit
microprocessor.
As such,it cannot
be extended
or alteredin any way, evenby a skilled
electronics
technician.
So
if youtry to monitororenter
an
out-of-bandfrequency
-you'll getthe Error message
every
time! To listen in on CB, SW,
lower Ham bands,
etc., you'll just have to get another receiver
designed
for
that
purpose
(like
our
famous
DX-160
tunablereceiver).

MODE
You can locatethe frequencyfor any unknownstation
in the VHFI
UHFbandsby usingthe
Search
Function
of your
PRO-2001.
1. PressSCANNER
keyto select
a
channel.
(Momentarily
press
the
Scanning
Switchto MANUAL to advanceto a desiredchannel
as
indicatedbythe
Channel
LED.)
2. SetSOUELCH
control
to point
where
annoying
backgroundnoise
just
stops.
3. Press
PROGRAMkey.

4. PressLO key; then press
the numbersfor the lowerfrequency
limit

desire.

for the upper
