INTRODUCTION
D100PRE is a three channels guitar all tube based preamplifier. Thought as ultimate
tone weapon, featuring rich clean crispy sound, a tridimensional multi stage
overdriven channel and a third “over the top” modern gain lead channel.
Full MIDI implementation (CC and PC), tube based gain and volume boosts makes
your life as guitarist easier than ever before.
Additional info and audio/video demos can be found at www.redseven-
amplification.com or you can contact us any time at info@redseven-
amplification.com
POWER SUPPLY
D100PRE is shipped with multi tap IEC socket, and input voltage can be choose
between 100-120-230 and 240VAC.
You must need a flat screwdriver to open IEC socked and rotate internal selector.
It’s very important you do this with power cord NOT CONNECTED to IEC socket,
and with D100PRE rack totally closed, since there’s not need to open the case.
If you’re not sure of what you’re doing, please bring it to a qualified person, you’re
messing with potentially lethal voltages, who can hurt you and D100PRE.

!

PREMISE
D100PRE is based and it’s the natural evolution of our flagship amplifier, Duality100.
With the idea of 1:1 porting of preamplifier section into a standard 2U rack case, we
took the time to develop some new ideas and concepts, by keeping Duality series
signature sound intact and unmodified.
As any guitar preamplifier in the world, also D100PRE is needed of a power amplifier,
so take this into account.
We developed D100PRE using D100 power amplifier section, to be 100% faithful to
the legacy, but of course it can be used with any PA available, with any sort of tubes,
or solid state too.
VERSIONS
D100PRE con be ordered in “Standard” and “RS (Red Stealth) version, as our Duality
series.
• Standard version is the original Duality sound, EL34 based and optimized for
this type of tubes.
• RS (Red Stealth) version is a modified version of the original sound, featuring
an overall higher saturation level and a tad brighter and aggressive sound,
only in dirty channels. Clean channel still remains the same on both version.
This mod was specifically designed to be run with 6L6s tubes.

SOUND DESCRIPTION
•
CH1 (Clean channel)
is something between and old ‘50s Fender and late ʼ60
Marshall SL Plexi. Sparkly, rich, 3D clean sound, something hard to find in
today’s modern multichannel amps. It can crunch with aggressive pickups but
it’s almost clean with any guitar below gain set at 4. Tonestack is way more
effective than the vintage ‘50/ʼ60 mono channel amplifiers, you can obtain
quite a lot different sounds from this channel. Bright switch also adds some
flexibility to it.
•
CH2 (VINTAGE):
Vintage channel is where you probably want to spend most
of your time and also our signature sound. Gain can be set from a crunchy
Marshall-esque type tone (think of early AC/DC) to ‘80s VH. Not a super huge
gain quantity and no over-saturated gain in the low end. With guitar’s volume
control you can still have a very good clean sound, even with gain dimed.
With “LEAD” mode engaged you are in late hard rock ‘80s territory. Quite a
lot of gain available now, consistent bass response, dynamics is always at
maximum. Eq is shared with MODERN channel and itʼs way more effective
than your usual eq and probably a bit different.
•
CH3 (MODERN):
The Modern channel starts where the Vintage channel ends
but with a little more gain and bass frequencies on top. This is a lot tighter,
gainy, compressed and saturated sounds than the previous channel. It has
right amount of gain to play solos even without using “LEAD” mode. Engaging
“LEAD” mode you’ll have a huge quantity of gain, you can be ready for any
hard rock / classic metal tones.!
IMPORTANT NOTE:
while VINTAGE and MODERN channel shares same eq controls
they are two completely separated channels. This allows us to have two different
flavors of same sound. Pure magic.

FIRST USAGE
Before plugging in the power cord, make sure to check input voltage of D100PRE
and be sure to match it with your wall voltage. Then insert power chord.!
Now you are ready to put the front power switch in “1 (ON)” position. Give tubes at
least thirty seconds to warm up.!Plug your signal cable into input jack then you are
ready to rock!
CHANNEL SWITCHES
Switches for Ch1, 2 and 3 or Clean, Vintage and Modern channels.
LEAD BOOST
As its big brother Duality 100, D100PRE featured a tube based gain boost for CH2
and CH3. This boost basically adds a gain stage somewhere in the signal path by
not afflicting your overall volume. Very useful if you’re looking for an “hot rod”
version of current channel you’re using.
Lead boost do not apply to CH1 (clean channel)
BRIGHT CAP
For the first time ever, bright cap is now remotely activable in one of our amplifiers.
You could now have choice of a darker/brighter version of the same sound.
Remote bright cap applies to all three channels (Clean, Vintage and Modern).
SOLO BOOST
Another big first time in a RedSeven amplifier, SOLO boost! It acts in the opposite
way to LEAD boost, by only increasing volume and not gain. Perfect for solos or just
to have a second step of volume, no matter in which channel you are in (yes, it acts
on all three channels).
Thanks to added eq section of SOLO boost, it can be used in couple modes:
1. Volume boost (with level > 0). It adds volume up to +15db for your solo parts.
Add or subtract highs and lows, if you need it. In flat position (center) it’s flat.

!
12!
2. Main EQ. (with level = 0). SOLO boost can be used also as global eq or in
guitar words terms, like a global “presence” and “depth” controls. These
controls of course do not act exactly like presence/depth controls like in a full
amplifier (we do not have any power amp here), but you could think at them
like them. Fine tune your poweamp or guitar!
BLUETOOTH
Bluetooth chip is present inside D100PRE, for future development. Thought as an
extension for possible mobile apps for managing sounds. In can only be turn on/off.
At current release, it’s not doing anything.
MIDI
D100PRE, despite the full tube audio signal path, is equipped with digital memory
and can save combinations (presets) of functions inside D100PRE.
D100PRE is shipped on midi channel #1. You can’t change midi channel on the fly
after bought it, but you can ask for a different midi channel at order time.
All functions are recallable on the fly via midi CC. This is the full CC list:
• Clean channel: CC #100
• Vintage Channel: CC #101
• Modern Channel: CC#102
• Lead Boost: CC#103
• Bright: CC#104
• Solo Boost: CC#105
All CCs can be changed with custom numbers, but only at order time.

SAVING A PRESET
Saving a preset is quite easy with D100PRE, it takes only few steps:
• Choose the desired combination of functions (channel, loop, solo, etc);
• Keep “STORE” button pressed for three seconds, until corresponding led turn
on, than release it;
• By using a MIDI devices able to send Program Change, send the desired PC
you want to memorize this particular combination;
• Store led will blink couple time for confirmation;
• You preset is now created.
You can save and re-save a preset infinite time. With this procedure you can use
different midi pedalbords or interface for recall preset without losing data, because
all presets are stored inside the amp. You only need to send the exact PC and it will
recall the same combination of functions every time forever.
You can exit the saving routing in anytime by pressing “STORE” switch three seconds
until the corresponding led turn off.
OUTPUTS
There’re two outputs on D100PRE’s back panel. Your “to go” output is the one
named “+4dB output”, and it’s the direct output from last tube of D100PRE. It’s a
full line level output signal, with enough headroom to drive any external line level
effect processor or any power amplifier.
The alternative one, is named “-10db output” and it’s an attenuate output to be use
only if you’d like to place instrument level pedals AFTER preamp and to avoid
clipping. While we highly discourage to do this, we thought this safe exit for you.
Missing volume from D100PRE must be recovered from power amp.

!

IEC SOCKET
We wanted D100PRE to be a valid a choice for world travelling professional guitarists.
Main IEC power socket has a special voltage selector, to easily change input voltage,
from 100-120-230 to 240VAC, without opening rack case nor the use of a solder
machine.
While this is an easier procedure than de-soldering and soldering wires, opening
the case, etc, it can still partially dangerous.
We highly recommend the help of a medium flat screwdriver for this operation AND
a proper tech if you’re not 100% sure of what you’re doing.
Procedure is self-explicatory, you just need to remove voltage selection from little
window under IEC power socket, take out voltage selector and put it back in place
on setting (voltage) you desire. It’s done.

TROUBLESHOTTING
• D100PRE IS NOT TURNING ON
Check the power cord, sometimes it will be loose and cannot make good
contact with IEC socket. Replace it. If this doesn’t work check MAIN fuse, if it’s
blown replace with SAME type and try again to turn on again. If fuse continue
to blown, turn off the amp and contact RedSeven Amplificaton.
• D100PRE IS TURNING ON (RED LIGHT IS ON) BUT WITH NO SOUND
Be sure you turned on you power amplifier;
Be sure to connect D100PRE to you power amplifier;
Be sure to connect speaker cable properly, both power amplifier and cabinet.
Check the input signal from guitar too. If this doesn’t work check HT fuse, if
it’s blown replace with SAME type and try again to turn on again. If fuse
continue to blown, turn off the amp and contact RedSeven Amplificaton.
• D100PRE IS MAKE NO SOUND
If everything works properly be sure to have selected channel volume not at
0.
• I’M NOT ABLE TO SAVE A PRESET
Read “SAVING A PRESET” chapter and do meticulously what it’s wrote. You
have to follow any step and not swap them. Check midi cable and try to
replace it. Be sure to connect your sending devices via MIDI OUT socket and
D100PRE MIDI in socket and not vice-versa.
If for some reason this doesn’t work contact RedSeven Amplificaton.
• I’M NOT ABLE TO RECALL A PRESET
Be sure to set up your midi board or midi interface on midi channel 1. Any
other channel will not work and you will not able to recall a preset. Check
midi cable and try to replace it. Be sure to connect your sending devices via
MIDI OUT socket and D100PRE MIDI in socket and not vice-versa.
