6.2. Use steps
1. Before using the reel, you must use professional tools (e.g. multimeter) to measure whether
the circuit between the clamped equipment and the fixing position of the reel as well as the
ground is clear, and the resistance between the clip of the reel and the grounding device
should be measured to be less than 10Ω to ensure that the reel can effectively dissipate
static charge accumulation. If the circuit is not clear, it is prohibited to use this product and
seek prompt professional attention or contact your dealer.
2. Fix the reel, slowly pull out the flexible cable and check if the reel is working properly. The
reel will produce 6 "clicks" per turn.
3. Make sure there are no problems with the two points above before using the reel. The reel
has pull-and-stop and slow-retraction functions. After the desired length of flexible cable has
been pulled out, loosen your grip to lock the reel and fasten the clip to the equipment that
needs to dissipate static charges.
4. When you’ve finished operation, manually release the clip and pull out the flexible cable by
10-20mm to unlock the reel. At this point you can retract the flexible cable or pull out more
flexible cable.
Note:
a. To avoid damage to the reel, do not pull the flexible steel wire completely out of the reel,
preferably leaving 2 to 3 turns in the reel.
b. To avoid damage to the reel, please keep holding the clip end of the reel while the flexible
steel wire is being retracted.
7. COMMON FAULTS AND TROUBLESHOOTING METHODS
8. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
1. Clean the cable and the reel with a cloth soaked in silicone oil every 2 to 3 months to remove
dirt or deposits.
2. Do not use detergents or solvents that may be incompatible with the reel.
3. If it is necessary to carry out maintenance of mechanical parts or to replace the cable,
please contact your dealer.
4. It may prove to be dangerous to disassemble the device by unskilled personnel. The risks
involved mainly involve preloaded springs.
5. Store the cable in a dry and well-ventilated place if it is not to be used for a long time.
6. The Static Grounding reel shall be earthed when it is used, the earth resistance shall not be
greater than 10 ohm.
9. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS
The product complies with California 65 (Ca. prop. 65) and EU RoHS and REACH require-
ments.
3
Faults
The circuit is not clear after
clamping.
The flexible cable runs off the
reel during retraction.
The reel circuit has a higher
via resistance or becomes
open after prolonged storage.
The reel cannot be locked/
unlocked.
Possible Causes
The surface of the clamped
equipment is not conductive.
Not conductive between the
mounting position and the reel.
The reel itself is not conductive.
Failure to keep holding the clip
end during retraction.
1. The reel circuit rusts in the
storage environment.
2. Insulating materials attach to
the reel circuit during storage.
The locking mechanism has faults.
Troubleshooting Methods
Test the conductivity of the
clamped equipment.
Test the conductivity between the
reel and the mounting position.
Test the conductivity of the reel itself.
Lock the reel, manually wind the
flexible cable onto the reel and
confirm that 4 to 5 turns are
pre-tightened.
Clean the reel circuit.
