To properly install this unit, you will need the Equipment Drawing

(previouslyfurnished),showingallutilityserviceandspacerequire-

obtained by writing, wiring, faxing, or telephoning STERIS giving

the serial, equipment and model numbers of your washer.

If STERIS supervision is desired for installing this equipment,

contact the STERIS Regional Office nearest you.

The following is a summary of the safety precautions which must be observed when uncrating, installing and

checking this equipment. WARNINGS indicate the potential for danger to personnel and CAUTIONS indicate

the potential for damage to equipment. These precautions are repeated, where applicable, throughout the

instructions.

WARNING —PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE HAZARD:

When moving unit, use a dolly or rollers. Do not use door or door latch for lifting.

WARNING —LACERATION/EYE INJURY HAZARD:

When removing bands, wear eye protection and always use a tool specifically designed for cutting the

bands. The bands used to secure this container can cause personal injury when cut and tension is

released.

WARNING —LACERATION HAZARD:

When removing lag screws, wear gloves to protect your hands.

WARNING —ELECTRIC SHOCK AND/OR BURN HAZARD:

When checking operation of drain valve, make sure building electrical supply is disconnected and that

machineiscool.Valveisenergizedwhenbuildingelectricalsupplyisconnectedandpiping/valveishot

after machine has been run.

WARNING —BURN HAZARD:

Whencheckingautomaticstopfeature,wearglovesandfaceprotectionandopendoorslowly.Hotwater

may escape through door opening if door is opened while unit is operating.

Before inspecting and/or cleaning supply line strainers, allow piping to cool down.

WARNING —FALL HAZARD:

To prevent falls, keep floors dry. Promptly clean up any spills or drippage.

CAUTION —POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE:

Whenremovingadhesives fromstainlesssteel, useasolvent speciallyformulatedforthatpurpose.Rub

in a back-and-forth motion (in same direction as surface grain). Solvent rubbed in a circular motion or

appliedwithawirebrushorsteelwoolondoorandchamberassembliescanbeharmfultostainlesssteel.

Do not use solvents on painted surfaces.

Once three-phase power is connected, check pump for correct rotation. Incorrect pump rotation may

result in pump damage and improper cleaning action.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to check the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as local electric and plumbing

codes, for any special requirements that may pertain to installation of this unit.

Section2—Uncrating Instructions

NOTE: This equipment weighs approximately 275 lbs (120 kg).

Use a dolly or rollers to move equipment. Uncrate on level floor as

close to installation site as possible.

1. Positionunittoopencardboardcontainerfromthetop.Provide

a clear work area on all sides.

2. Carefullycutandremovebandsfromcontainer(seeFigure1).

Discard bands before continuing.

3. Lift off cardboard top.

4. Remove nails attaching cardboard to skid. Remove and

discard cardboard container.

5. Carefully cut and remove second set of bands (see Figure 2).

Discard bands before continuing.

6. Remove and discard cardboard corners and polystyrene

wrap from around unit (see Figure 2).

1. Withwasherstillmountedonskid,useadollyorrollerstomove

washer to installation site.

2. Locate access panel keys (attached to basket inside wash

chamber). Unlock and open access panel (see Figure 3).

Remove access panel from washer by tilting it forward and

lifting it up and away from frame.

3. Check tip indicator, located in back right corner, facing unit,

above recirculating pump assembly (see Figure 3). If unit has

been tipped, notify your nearest STERIS regional office.

4. Remove lag screws and washers, on front left side of unit,

securing washer base to skid (see Figure 3).

5. Remove lag screws and washers, in back of unit to right of

recirculating pump assembly, securing washer base to skid.

6. Remove and discard skid from under washer.

1. Remove all tape from washer.

track and slide basket out of wash chamber.

3. RemovebottomfilterandenvelopecontainingOperatorManual

and other printed material from basket. Give printed material

to appropriate personnel.

4. Cut and discard nylon straps securing wash arm assembly.

5. Close and latch chamber door.

6. Replace access panel.

7. Discard all packing material removed during uncrating

procedures.

1. Review installation requirements.

a. Clearance— Clearancespace shownon EquipmentDraw-

ing is necessary for easy installation and proper operation

of unit.

b. Utility Service Lines:

• To allow service on unit without shutting off building

supply lines, shutoff valves (not by STERIS) should be

installed on water and, if option applies, steam lines to

unit (see Figure 4). Shutoff valves must be capable of

being locked in OFF position.

• Disconnectswitches (not bySTERIS) should beinstalled

in electric supply lines near washer (see Figure 4).

Disconnectswitches must be capableofbeing locked in

OFF position only.

• If this machine is installed next to other equipment,

shutoff valves and disconnect switches, should be lo-

cated so that service can be shut off to one piece of

equipment at a time.

• Utility service requirements are shown on Equipment

Drawing. This machine requires either 208 V, 60 Hz, 1-

phase,3-wire;208V,60Hz,3-phase,4-wire;or240V,60

Hz,3-phase,3-wirepower.CheckEquipmentDrawingor

ID Plate, on left side of washer, facing unit, above

thermostat, for proper voltage (see Figure 3).

2. Place washer, as shown on Equipment Drawing, in correct

relationto building supply lines. Ifunitis not at installationsite,

refer to Uncrating Instructions (Section 2) for proper moving

instructions.

NOTE: Unit must be level. If necessary, use shims (not supplied

with unit) to level washer. If unit is not level, water level control and

drain may not work properly.

3. Open access panel. Remove access panel from washer by

tilting it forward and lifting it up and away from frame.

1. COLD WATER — Blow out the building cold-water supply line

to remove chips, scale, etc. Connect line to washer.

2. HOT WATER — Blow out the building hot-water supply line to

remove chips, scale, etc. Connect line to washer.

3. STEAM (if unit is equipped with steam-heated option) — Blow

outthebuildingsteam supply line to remove chips, scale, etc.

Connect line to washer.

4. WASTE — Connect washer drain line to building waste line.

5. ELECTRIC — Connect building electrical supply to washer.

Verify that all electrical connections are tight.

6. Open building supply valves and check for leaks. Correct if

necessary.

1. Replace access panel.

2. Remove any adhesives found on panels and inside chamber

with a suitable solvent (such as Stoddard solution). Keep

solventsawayfromallpaintedsurfacesordamagemayresult.

3. Inspect work area to be sure all materials used during instal-

lation have been removed.

THIS COMPLETES THE INSTALLATION. Before operating

the equipment, an operational test should be conducted by an

STERISEngineeringServicetechnicianorequivalentpersonfamil-

iar with operational test procedures, including leak testing, as

outlined in Section 4. Contact your local STERIS representative —

he/she will gladly schedule a STERIS technician to test your

installation and show persons designated how to operate the unit.

1. Locatedrainvalveinwasherservicecompartment(seeFigure

5). Manually operate valve lever to ensure proper operation.

2. Install bottom filter in bottom of wash chamber (see Figure 5).

3. Remove mounting bolt and lift wash arm out of chamber (see

Figure 5).

4. Close and latch chamber door.

NOTE: START button and indicator light are mounted in the

backsplash on the freestanding unit (see Figure 5). On the

undercounter unit, START button and indicator light are mounted

in the access panel.

5. Press START button. Indicator light goes on. Let cycle run

approximately 15 seconds to clear piping system of any

foreign matter. Wearing proper safety protection, check auto-

matic stop feature. Open chamber door. Automatic stop

feature should shut off all services.

6. Remove and clean bottom filter. Replace filter in chamber.
