Technical safety instructions for the user
This des ription ontains the ne essary information for the orre t appli ation of the produ t des ribed
below. It is intended for use by te hni ally qualified personal.
Qualified personnel are persons who, be ause of their training, experien e and position as well as their
knowledge of appropriate standards, regulations, health and safety requirements and working onditions,
are authorised to be responsible for the safety of the equipment, at all times, whilst arrying out their nor-
mal duties and are therefore aware of, and an report, possible hazards (Definition of qualified employees
a ording to IEC 364)
Safety Instructions
The following instru tions are provided for the personal safety of operators and also for the prote tion of
the des ribed produ t and onne ted equipment.
Warning!
Hazardous Voltage
Failure to observe an kill, ause serious injury or damage
• Isolate from mains before installation or dismantling work, as well as for fuse hanges or post installa-
tion modifi ations.
• Observe the pres ribed a ident prevention and safety rules for the spe ifi appli ation.
• Before putting into operation he k if the rated voltage for the unit onforms with the lo al supply
voltage.
• Emergen y stop devi es must be provided for all appli ations. Operation of the emergen y stop must
inhibit any further un ontrolled operation.
• The electrical connecting terminals must be covered!
• Earth bonding must be tested for integrity after installation.
Specified Use

1.0 General
The MFS 268 range of frequen y onverters for vibratory feeders an operate with an EtherNet-IP inter-
fa e.
In normal operation the set point, for the feeder throughput, an be sent from a PLC to the ontroller and
the unit ready/fault status signals are fed ba k. In an additional parameter mode the unit an be onfig-
ured over the EtherNet-IP. An external power supply of 24 VDC is required for the interfa e.
The required EDS-File is provided at the time of delivery.

The interfa e enables ommuni ation with the frequen y onverter, using 4 data words (i.e. 16 Bits).
The four 16 Bit words are transmitted and a knowledged every bus y le.
! Important – Data consistence is required to operate with EtherNet-IP!
Note: Data consistence is defined in a Siemens S7 PLC with SFC14 and SFC15, for example
Units are fa tory set prior to delivery and so are onfigured for bus operation.
If the unit is required for manual ontrol then the parameter “CAN.” in menu C 017 should be set on “0”.
You get ba k to bus operation, if you hoose CAN. = „1“.

For the interfa e version parameter “CAN” is set to “I”. Then ommuni ation through the interfa e is pos-

ba k to "0” again.
Important: The parameter “Ad.” must be set to “1” and the baud rate must be set to “b 1000”.

4.0 EDS-File
Following EDS-File is required for the operation with the EtherNet-IP interfa e:

The EDS-file is supplied on a CD with each new unit or alternatively, visit www.reo.de to download
the file from the website.
5.0 Bus operating modes
Two fundamental operating modes an be hosen for bus ommuni ation.
Normal Operation: Control of the frequen y ontroller in produ tion, in whi h ase the Set point and
ON/OFF ontrol signals are transmitted
Parameter Operation: Adjustment of the frequen y ontroller for the desired operation mode and limits.
In a spe ial mode the parameter and parameter addresses are transmitted and
a knowledged.
In parameter operation, the unit’s spe ifi values, su h as frequen y, soft start
time, timers and swit hing et ., are set.

5.1 Programming for the Bus operation
In normal operation the set point for Amplitude (throughout/feed rate) and the digital ontrol signals, su h
as enable are set a ross the interfa e. The a tual voltage/ urrent values and unit status (ready or fault)
are fed ba k. All data words are within the range 0…FFFF H.
The following ommuni ation words are given in bit form.

5.2 Parameter Operation
In parameter operation, the spe ifi unit parameters an be monitored and adjusted.
A `write` enable must be transmitted before parameters an be altered. On losing, the `write` enable
must be an elled.
A `read` request must be sent before data an be read.
Word 3 in the a knowledge is always `C0DE H`. This indi ates that the ontroller is in parameter mode.
5.2.1 Creating parameter addresses and values
In parameter operation the most signifi ant bit (msb) in Word 1 is defined as a read or write bit (R/W),
where 1 = write and 0 = read, this should be a ompanied by the orresponding parameter address.
The mode bit (msb in Word 3) is used to sele t normal or parameter operation, 0 = Normal or 1 = pa-
rameter operation.

.0 Methods for adjusting the IP-address
1. Web server (Preferably)
2. DHCP Server Utility
If you don’t have a browser, you an push a swit h on the front of our devi e.
If you push this swit h shorter than five se onds, the devi e gets the IP-address 192.168.11.182.

0.0.0.0) and DHCP is set on.

You an all up an HTML-page with the help of our web server. There are shown system parameters of

1. You open the ontrol panel.
2. There you open the “Network and Sharing Center”.
