The room in which the machine is installed has to be well aerated and dry and the
temperature range is between 5 and 35°C.
Do not use the machine in humid (the humidity range is between 10 and 85% RH),
wet, dusty or explosive environment.
Provide good quality light and where is not subject to direct sunlight.
The machine must be placed on flat and smooth ground reasonably free from dust
and subject of no vibration, do not stand on paper waste.
Keep order around the machine.
Settle the machine to have minimum 1 meter free place round.
Operate this unit in the environment where there are no harmful chemicals and the
unit is not exposed to water.
Do not install this unit in a location where there is excessive humidity or where
contact with water is possible.
2.1.2 Fire & Explosion Hazard
Do not use flammable sprays inside or near the unit (e.g. when cleaning the unit).
2.1.3 Power Supply
The machine can be connected just to that electric network
which voltage, frequency and maximum power rating correspond to the values
displayed on the data table of the machine. To operate the machine, wire N is
necessary as well.
The machine has I. classing of protection against electric shock that is why it has to
be connected to grounded 400V 20A minimum nominal power rating socket being in
appropriate condition.
The electric socket-outlet must be easily accessible on behalf of the easier cutting off
the current, and above the floor level between 0,6 and 1,9m height.

9 Tel: +45 36173363, e-mail: [email protected]
The cross-section of the settled power cable has to be minimum 5 x 2,5 mm². To
protect the machine against too much power consumption, use single-phase C 25
circuit/contact breaker.
Carefully check the rotation of the motors.
At an occurred failure of the fuses change them just to the specified value, the
bridging of them or causing their short circuit is forbidden.
To attach other network appliances into the socket-outlet placed in the machine is
forbidden. The socket-outlet serves strictly to operate the external units of the
machine.

10
2.2 User/ Operator
Only one person can use the machine at the time, in order to avoid any danger to
the health.
The machine can be handled just by a person who is educated, knows the
instructions written in the user manual and is in appropriate state for safe working.
Never stand or sit on the machine.
The employee can work only in safe working condition, instructions retention;
perform work in accordance with health and safety education. The employee is
required to work together with its colleagues, and work has been done to its own or
another's health and safety integrity without compromising. In particular, it must
inspect:
a. work equipment provided for at employee’s disposal to make it a reasonable
way to their intended purpose and use of the employer's instructions , perform
maintenance duties as assigned;

2.3 During Process/Operation
2.3.1 General terms
Before start up, check if there is no other person in danger zone.
Before start up, check not have any metal or easily-combustible object inside the
working area.
Do not place metal objects or vessels containing liquids on top of the unit.
Keep this unit and the power cord away from heaters and heater vents and hanging
objects.
Always disconnect the power plug from the power outlet when the unit is not to be
used for an extended period.
The plug of the vacuuming system must be connected only into the indicated socket.

The occurred electric reparation can be made just by a specialist.
Do not make any modification or redevelopment on the machine alone or by anybody
else, it results the immediate losing of the guarantee.
In case of any electric and mechanical repairing –including the
changing of the fuses –cut off the machine from electricity, and extinguish the air
supply of the machine.

16
The rotation direction of the milling unit must be
checked. The right direction is clockwise (from top view). In case the
rotation direction is not appropriate, please change two phases in the
socket or in the plug.
If the machine is turned off in any case it can be restarted after
minimum 2 minutes.
Pay attention to the quality of supplied compressed air to the
machine because the machine needs to have completely dry compressed air supply.

5. Description of the units of the machine
The Perfect Binder 420 can be separated by units to ease the understanding and
sevicing of the machine.
The units are the following:
5. 1. Frame of the machine
5. 2. Starting steel plate unit
There is a jogger motor in this unit, this
helps the accurate and quick jogging for
the binding. The up –down moving of
the starting steel plate determines the
level of the spine of the book in
proportion to the milling disk. This
attribute allows the possibility of
adjustment of the milling height. This
height can be 0 –3 mm. Just slitting can
happen at 0 –1 mm height, milling and
slitting take place at 1 –3 mm height as
well. We can reach this function in the
SETUP menu. You can find the description of the adjustment in the 8. 4 SETUP
screen at the point of 13. Value of milling height.
5. 3. Carriage clamp (vice)
This unit holds the document during the
binding process. The carriage clamp is
moving in several directions.
Opening –closing of the clamp to hold
the document and to measure the
thickness of the book. With the help of
this function can be adjusted
automatically the side gluing wheels and
the scoring wheels. The maximum
thickness of the book can be hold is 50
mm. The up –down moving of the
carriage clamp is relevant because of
several reasons, since we can adjust the
thickness of the cover page by this
function of the carriage clamp. You can

20
find this in the 8. 4. SETUP screen at the point of 14. Value of the thickness of the
cover sheet.
The carriage clamp is at the upper position basicly. It goes from the starting steel
plate up to the binding unit during the binding period. It goes down here, and
presses the spine of the book to the cover sheet.
The closing of carriage is pneumatic to speed up the binding
cycle, therefore the opening distance needs tobe adjusted
depending to the book thickness to be bound. We put a
numerical counter on the unit. For example in case of 20 mm
book, the value of the counter shoud be adjusted to approx. 25,0 to be able to put
the book into the clamp freely.
Do not put your hand in the way of the carriage clamp. It can
cause severe personal injury! Be sure that nothing blocks the moving of the carriage
clamp, before starting the binding.
The machine must always be stopped with the emergency stop
button.
5. 4. Milling unit
This unit is responsible for the working of the spine of the
book, which can happen with slitting and milling. At the
installation the rotation of the milling unit must be
checked. Never mill a book already bound, this leads to
the immediate failure of the milling unit.
On the Perfect Binder 420 it is possible to
tilt one side of milling station to be able to
bind sewed books with the machine. There
is a lever inside the machine and by
turning it the left side of the milling station moves down. To reach this
lever the operator must open the right upper cover of the machine.
To be able to turn the lever first the copper fixing screw must be
loosened and then the lever can be turned to the right. Then the
copper screw must be fastened. The milling height must be set to 0,0 value.
