This document explains how to:
• Assemble the Tankless Water Heater and Boiler Free-Standing Rack (Standard and Low Profile
versions) (Fig 1).
• Assemble the Add-On Extension Kit (if purchased) (Fig 1).
• Attach the tankless water heater or boiler (purchased separately) to the rack.

The Tankless Water Heater and Boiler Free-Standing Rack and Add-On Extension Kit are compatible
with the following internal (indoor) Rinnai products: SENSEI™ Tankless Water Heaters, I-Series
Condensing Boilers, and M-Series Condensing Boilers (Fig 2).
Supplied:
• Contents inside rack product box (contents are listed in the next section titled “Items Inside
Product Box”).
Field-Supplied:
• Rinnai Tankless Water Heater or Boiler (purchased separately) with supplied mounting bracket
and Installation and Operation Manual.
• Screwdriver, nut driver or wrench for use with screws and bolts listed in the next section titled
“Items Inside Product Box.”
• (Recommended) Four (4) screws/expansion anchors for anchoring rack to floor. Reference local
codes for minimum concrete thickness and use appropriate expansion anchors capable of
supporting the rack system weight and applicable Rinnai tankless water heater or boiler weights.
− For rack weights, see Fig 1 on the first page of this document.
− For tankless water heater or boiler weights, refer to the Installation and Operation Manual
supplied with the unit.

Before assembly, please make sure all parts are located inside the product box.
The contents of the Standard Rack and Low Profile Rack are shown below.
The items and quantities are the same for both racks. The only difference is the length of the Vertical
Leg Assembly (item #2 shown below) which is shorter for Low Profile Racks.

Follow the instructions below to assemble the
Standard Rack, Low Profile Rack, and Add-On
Extension Kit (if purchased).
1. Insert the Vertical Leg Assembly into the Foot
Assembly and secure with two (2) Carriage
Bolts, two (2) Flange Nuts, and two (2) lock
washers (Fig 3). Repeat this step on the
other side.
2. Attach one Leg Brace to the Vertical Leg
Assembly/Foot Assembly with four (4) Hex
Bolts (Fig 4). Repeat this step on the other
side.
The Leg Brace can attach to the front or
back of the assembly.

4. Attach the Top Bar Assembly to the Vertical
Leg Assemblies with four (4) Carriage Bolts,
four (4) Flange Nuts, and four (4) lock
washers (Fig 6).
IMPORTANT
3. Attach the Middle Crossmember to the
Vertical Leg Assemblies with four (4)
Carriage Bolts, four (4) Flange Nuts, and
four (4) lock washers (Fig 5).

Supplied with Extension Kit.
If using the optional Add-On Extension Kit,
attach the extended length Middle
Crossmember (supplied with the Extension Kit)
instead of the standard length Middle
Crossmember.
IMPORTANT
Top Bar Assembly (Extended Length)
Supplied with Extension Kit.
If using the optional Add-On Extension Kit,
attach the extended length Top Bar Assembly
(supplied with the Extension Kit) instead of the
standard length Top Bar Assembly.

5. (Recommended) Install four (4) screws
and/or expansion anchors (field-supplied)
through the base of the legs to prevent
tipping potential (Fig 7).
Reference local codes regarding minimum
concrete thickness and use appropriate
expansion anchors that are capable of
supporting the rack system weight and
applicable Rinnai tankless water heater or
boiler weights.
• For rack weights, see Fig 1 on the first
page of this document.
• For tankless water heater or boiler
weights, refer to the Installation and
Operation Manual supplied with the
unit.

6. Hang the Rinnai Tankless Water Heater or
Boiler onto the rack by following the steps
below:
6A: SENSEI™ Tankless Water Heaters
and I-Series Boilers:
Using two (2) Hex Bolts (supplied), attach
the hanging bracket (supplied with
tankless water heater or boiler) to the
outer through-holes on the left and right
sides of the Top Bar Assembly (Fig 8).

6B: M-Series Boilers:
Using two (2) Thread Cutting Screws (supplied),
attach the hanging bracket (supplied with boiler)
to the inner through-holes on the left and right
sides of the Top Bar Assembly (Fig 9).

7. Hang the tankless water heater or boiler
onto the hanging bracket (Fig 10).
Reference the Tankless Water Heater or
Boiler Installation and Operation Manual for
detailed instructions.

8. For SENSEI™ Tankless Water Heaters or I-Series
Boilers, secure the bottom mounting backet to the
Middle Crossmember using two (2) Hex Bolts
(supplied) (Fig 11).
The Vertical Leg Assemblies contain rivet nuts
(#10-24 thread) on both sides of the rack to
allow for installation of field-supplied unistruts
(Fig 12). Unistruts allow plumbing components
or accessories to be mounted on the rack.
