GeneralInformation
Theinstallationofsolarmodulesrequiresagreatdegree ofskill and shouldonlybeperformedbyaqualified
licensedprofessional,including,withoutlimitation, licensedcontractorsandlicensedelectricians.
WARNING
All instructionsshouldbereadandunderstoodbeforeattemptingtoinstall, wireoperateandmaintainthe
photovoltaic module. Contactwithelectricallyactivepartsofthemodulesuchasterminalscanresult inburns,
sparks, andlethalshockwhetherthemoduleisconnectedordisconnected.
Theinstallerassumestheriskofall injurythatmightoccurduringinstallation,including,withoutlimitation,therisk
ofelectricshock.
PVmodulesgenerateDCelectricalenergywhenexposedtosunlightorotherlightsources.Althoughsingle
modulesproduce onlyalowvoltageandcurrent, shocksand burnsarestill apotentialhazard.
Toavoidthehazardofelectricshockandinjury,coverall overthefrontsurface ofPVmoduleswithadense
opaquematerialsuchasthecardboardboxduringinstalling andhandlingmodules.

Theshockhazardincreasesasmodulesareconnectedinparallelproducinghighercurrent.Theshockhazardincreases
asmodulesareconnectedinseriesproducinghighervoltages.Toavoidthehazardofelectricshock,workonlyunder
dryconditions,withdrymoduleandtools.
Donotstandorsteponamoduletoavoidthehazardofinjuryandthedamagetoamodule.
Donotdamagethebacksheetofamodule, toavoidthehazardofelectricshocksandfire.
Toavoidthehazardofelectricshockandinjury,childrenand unauthorizedpersonsshouldnotbeallowednearthe
installationofthesolarcell modules.
Toavoidthehazardofelectricshockandinjury, besuretogroundthemodulescompletely.
Toavoidthehazardoffireandinjury,do notdisassemblethemodule,orremoveany partinstalledbytheanufacturer.
Whencarryingamodule, twoormorepeopleshouldcarryit bytheframeandwearnon-slipglovestoavoidinjuryby
aslippingmoduletofeetorcutsbytheedgeofframe. Unauthorizedpersonsexceptthequalified licensedprofessional
shouldnotopenthecoverofthejunctionboxto avoidthehazardofelectricshock.
Donottouchterminalswhileamoduleisexposedtolight.Providesuitableguardstopreventyourselfcontacting
directlywith30 VDCorgreatertoavoidthehazardofelectricshockorinjury.afootorcutsbytheedgeofaframe,
and soon

DonotcarryamodulebywireorJunction boxtoavoidthehazardofelectricshockandinjuryoranytroublesina
module, whichit maycause.
Donotdropanythingonthesurfacesofmodule, toavoidthehazardofelectricshock, injury.
Toavoidthehazardofelectricshockandfire, besurethatothersystemcomponentsdonotcauseanyhazardofany
mechanicalorelectricalnaturetothemodule.Since sparksmaybegenerated, donotinstall modulewhereflammable
gasesorvaporsarepresent.
Neverleaveamoduleunsupportedorunsecured.
Donotdropmoduleanddonotallowobjectstofall onmoduletoavoidthehazardofinjuryoranytroublesin
modulesthatit maycause.
Donotuseorinstall brokenmodulestoavoidthehazardofelectricshockandinjury.
Donotartificiallyconcentrateonmoduletoavoidthehazardoffireoranytrouble.
DonottouchtheJunctionboxterminalstoavoidthehazardofelectricshockand injury.

GENERALSAFETY

Followall permission, installation and inspection requirements. Beforeinstallingmodule, contactappropriate
authoritiestodeterminepermission,installation andinspectionrequirementsthatshouldbefollowed.Thisshouldbe
donenotonlyforinstallationsinconjunctionwithbuildings,butalsoformarineandmotorvehicleapplicationsfor
whichadditionalrequirementsmayapply.
Besurethattheconstructionintendedtoinstall modulesonitsrooftophasenoughstrength.Formodulesmountedon
roof, specialconstructionmayberequiredtohelpprovideproperinstallation.Bothroofconstructionand module
installationdesign haveaneffectonthefireresistance ofthebuilding.Improperinstallation maycontributeto
hazardsintheeventoffire.Additionaldevicessuchasgroundfault,fusesand disconnectsmayberequired.
Donotusemodulesofdifferentconfigurationsinthesamesystem.
Followall safetyprecautionsofotherusedcomponents.
INSTALLATION
Pleasereadthisguidecompletelybeforeinstallingorusingthemodules.Thissection containselectricaland
mechanicalspecificationsbeforeusingyourRISENphotovoltaicmodules.
Modulesshouldbefirmlyfixedinplace Inamannersuitabletowithstandall expectedloads,includingwindand
snowloads.
Donotdrill additionalmounting holesinthemoduleframes, asit will voidthewarranty.
Theappropriatematerialshouldbeemployedformountinghardwaretopreventthemoduleframe,mounting
structureandhardwareitselffromcorrosion. Pleaseinstall modulesattheplacewheretheyarenotshadedbythe
obstacleslikebuildingandtrees.Especially,pleasepayattentiontoavoidpartiallyshadingmodulesbysomething in
daytime.

PleasecontactyourlocaldealerwithQuestionsregardingmountingprofilesformodules.
Pleasecheckappearanceofthemodulesbeforeinstalling orusing.
NotesonInstallation
Clearance betweenthemoduleframeandthemountingsurfaceisrequiredtoallowcoolingairtocirculatearound
thebackofthemodule.Thisalsoallowsanycondensationormoisturetodissipate.
Themoduleshouldneverbesealedtothemountingsurfacewithsealantthatpreventsairfromcirculatingunderthe
module.Forroof-mountedmodules,theminimumDistancebetweentheroofandthemodulesshouldbe5cm(2
inch).Thismodulehas8 ellipticalholeforinstallation,withdimension9*14mm,4 oneachlongerside. Forinstallation
safety,werecommendthattheminimumtorqueofscrewbetween5~8N.m.
Werecommendinstallationmethodsshowninbelow.Insomeareas,localelectricalandbuildingcodesmaygovern
theinstallationanduseofPVmodules.
Pleasenotedall washers,nutandbolt arestainless steel.

StandardOperating Condition
Standardoperatingconditions(SOC)ofoursolarcell modulesareasfollows.Itisrecommendedthatthemodules
shouldbeoperatedintheSOC.Theinstallationplace withconditionsbeyondSOCorwithspecialconditions
shouldbeavoided.
1. Standardoperating condition
(1)Themodulesshouldbeoperatedonlyinterrestrialuseexceptspace useorotheruseinthespecialconditions.
(2)Theambienttemperatureshouldbewithinfrom-40 ~+80
(3)Therelativehumidityshouldwithinfrom45%to 95%.
(4)Theinstallationplace shouldbeless than1000mabovesealevel.But, installationatthealtitudeofmorethan
1000misallowedonlyifthewindpressureloadforamoduleislessthanBe30 lb/ft^2 146.5kg/m^2).
2. Specialconditions
(1) The ambient temperature and installationplace aredifferentfromtheSOC
(2)Thesalt damageisheavyatinstallation place.
3)Thehail andsnowdamagesareheavyatinstallation place
(4)Thesandanddustdamagesareheavyatinstallationplace

Notesonspecification
(1)PoweredspecificationsaremeasuredatStandardTestConditionIrradiance of: 1000W/m2, 25 cell
temperatureand solarspectralirradiance perIEC61215.
(2)Thecurrentoutputforthesemodulesasshown in theSpecificationsis measured at Standard test
conditions. Theseconditionsmaynotbefrequentlyobservedinactualpractice.
For questions regarding mountingprofilesformodules,pleasecontactyourlocaldealer.
WIRING
General
All wiringshouldbedoneinaccordance withapplicableelectricalcodes.
All wiringshouldbedonebythequalifiedlicensedprofessional.
Wiring shouldbeprotectedtohelpensurepersonalsafetyand topreventitsdamage.
All modulesconnectedinseriesshouldbeofthesamemodelnumber/type. Donotconnectmodulesinparallel
withoutusingaconnectionbox.

CNLmodelinstructionmanualsshall alsoincludeastatementthatinstallationshall beinaccordancewithCSAC22.1,
SafetyStandardforElectricalInstallations, CanadianElectricalCode, Part1.
DetailsforwiringinaccordancewiththeNEC, and thatthegroundingmethodoftheframeofarraysshall complywith
theNEC, article250.
Grounding
Thereisagroundinglabelandtwoholesonthemodule. Pleasereferthefigure1 forsizeand earth. Earthgrounding
conductorshouldbeinaccordance withlocalrequirementsortheIEC. Notestainless steelwashersareusedbetweenthe
groundwireandthemoduleframe(see picture2). Thesizeofgroundingholeis4mm. Thescrewis5.0mm.All washers
arewithinterdiameterof5.3mm.Thiswashersareusedtoavoidcorrosionduetodissimilarmetals. Tightenthescrew
with theminimumtorqueofscrewbetween 0.5~1N.m. Werecommendyou connectall moduleframestoanearthground.
Connectaseparategroundwiretooneoftheextramountingholeswithaself-tappingscrew. Theracksmustalsobe
groundedunlesstheyaremechanicallyconnectedbynutsand boltstothegrounded. Groundingisachievedbysecuring
thearrayframeforbothroofandfieldmountedapplications. Pleasenotedall washersand nutarestainless steel.

Modulewiring
WhenyourPVsystemincludesothercomponents(batteries,chargecontrollers,inverters,etc.),be

suretofollowthesafetyrecommendationsoftheirmanufactures.
Thesemodulescontainfactoryinstalledbypass diodes.Ifthesemodulesareincorrectlyconnectedtoeachother,the
bypass diodesorcableorjunctionboxmaybedamaged.
Array Wiring
Theterm “array”isusedtodescribetheassemblyofseveralmodulesonasupportstructurewithassociated wiring.
Usecopperwirethatissunlightresistantand isinsulatedtowithstandthemaximumpossiblesystemopencircuit
voltage.Checkyourlocalcodesforrequirements.
ModuleTerminations
AjunctionboxasterminalenclosureisequippedforelectricalconnectionsonRISENmodules.Themodulesare
equipped
withMCplugsasterminalenclosure.UsetheseMCplugsforelectricalconnections.Pleasecontactyourlocaldealer
withquestionsregardingotherelectricalconnectionsformodules.
DIODES
Bypass Diodes
Byhavingabypass diode,theforcedcurrentwill bypass theshadedmoduleinaseriescircuit,therebyminimizing
moduleheating
and arraycurrentlosses.Typicallymodulesaresuppliedwitha12Ampdiodewhichhasrepetitivepeakforward
current50A
and peakreverse voltage40V diode. For12-volt systemsandhigher:Eachsolarmodulejunctionboxhasadiagram
illustrating
theproperdirectionfortheby-pass diodetobeinstalledbetweentwooftheterminalscrews.Whenthesolar
modulesareconnected
asindividualseriesstringsfirst, andthenthesestringsareconnectedinparallel,bypass diodesshouldbeusedineach
junctionbox.
Thisisthesimplestwiringarrangementformostinstallations.Ataminimumthebypass diodesmusthavethe
followingelectricalcharacteristics:
RatedAverageForwardCurrentAbovemaximumsystemcurrentathighestoperatingtemperature.
MAINTENANCE
Somemaintenance isrecommendedtomaintainoptimaloutputperformanceofsolarcell modules. Ifthemodule
surface becomesdirty, itmaycausereduction ofoutputpower.Itisrecommendedtocleanthesurfacewith
waterand softclothorsponge.Amildnon-abrasivedetergentmaybeappliedforthepersistentdirt.Andit isalso
recommendedto
inspecttheelectricalandmechanicalconnectionsannually.
If youneedelectricaland mechanicalinspectionormaintenance,it isrecommendedtohavetheauthorizedprofessional
carryout
theinspectionormaintenancetoavoidthehazardsofelectricshockorinjury.
Thereturnofanymoduleswill notbeacceptedbyRISENunless priorwrittenauthorization hasbeengivenbyRISEN.

atany timewithoutpriornotice.
