Recommended Installation
1. Clean the windscreen inside and out to
ensure clearer images and easy adhesion.
2. Attach the camera to the windscreen
bracket and ax the 3M sticker.
3. Plug the 5V power adaptor into the
cigarette lighter or 12V socket and the other
end into the Drive Recorder’s DC5V power
input. The Drive Recorder will start up and
then begin recording automatically.
4. The camera should be positioned near the
top of the windscreen close to the rear-view
mirror. Tilt the camera so that the screen
shows only 20% of sky at the top and a
small amount of bonnet at the bottom.
5. Work out your best cable run to the 12V
power supply (see diagram).
6. Starting from the camera using a small
object e.g. a credit card, carefully tuck the
cable between the windscreen and rubber
seal. Once at the corner tuck the cable
down the appropriate pillar between the
door and the dashboard (see diagram) and
run under dashboard to 12V power supply
using the self-adhesive cable clips supplied.

Tips & Tricks
• If your cigarette lighter socket does not
automatically power down when the
engine is turned o, we recommend that
you disconnect the Driver Recorder from
the power source when the vehicle is left
overnight or for any length of time.
• In the unlikely event of a camera lock-up,
there is a small reset button near the On
/ O Button on the left of the camera.
The camera may also be reset to factory
defaults using the menus.
• You can preserve the integrity of the Micro
SD Card card by regularly formatting it.
• The recommended resolution for the P101
is HD (1280 x 720p) set in continuous
recording mode with automatic overwrite.
The SD Card capacity varies with the
amount of detail in any one scene but at
this resolution a 32GB SD Card will store
just about 5-7 hours worth of recordings.
• More can be stored if the lower resolution is
selected and the results are still acceptable.
• It is a good idea to store as many
recordings as you can in case you need
them in the future – for example if you want
to dispute a speed camera etc… One way
to do this is to use several 32GB SD Cards
numbering them 1,2,3 etc… or Mon, Tues,
Wed etc… These can then be copied to
your PC for safe keeping.
Transferring Data to a PC or Mac
• The best way to transfer data to a computer
is to remove the Micro SD Card and insert
it into the appropriate slot in your computer.
If your computer does not have a Micro SD
Card slot, then a USB adapter is available
from RoadPixel.
• Alternatively, the camera may be connected
directly to a computer using a USB cable.
• If you want to save, view or share the video
(and sound) data, then the recordings are in
a standard MPEG format and can be played
with many video players such as Windows
Media Player™ or Windows Live Movie
Maker™, provided that the appropriate
Codecs are present on your PC (such as
the ones in the K-Lite Codec pack).
