III. Troubleshooting of abnormal conditions
★Make sure that PCBA does not have any missing parts, cold soldering, and hollow soldering.
T01 、 No Power
1. Main Board
- Remove the top cover to check whether the devices on the main board are
burned.
- Measure EC07, EC613, EC615 to see whether they are short circuit to the
ground.
- Check to see whether L601, L602, and L611 are burned.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
T02 、 Power LED indicator not on or insufficient brightness
1. Main Board
- Remove the top cover to check whether LED (D301) is damaged.
- Measure pin 8 of U701 to see if the voltage is Hi. If none of the actions
mentioned above happened, it should be regarded as U701 NG.
- Measure Pin 6 of U302 to see if the voltage is Hi. In addition, Pin 8 of U302
should be Low voltage. If none of the actions mentioned above happened, it
should be regarded as U302 NG.
- Disassemble F/W, replace with a good one or re-plug it to see if the LED lights
up when Power ON.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
T03 Loading time too long
1. Main Board
- Remove the cover to see if the resistors or resistor-array adjacent to U101 or IC,
or the resistors or resistor-array adjacent to U701, U702, U901, or J903 to see if
there is any cold soldering, hollow soldering, misplaced soldering, or wrong
part.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
T04 Remote control bad sensing or sensing not functional
1. Remote control
- If the main body of the system works normally, then making sure that the battery
of the Remote control has sufficient power, if it is not, replace the battery.
2. Key Board
- Remove the top cover and the panel. Check to see if U2 has short circuit,
broken circuit, hollow soldering, or other problems. Also check if the pins 6
and 7 of U2 have power.

- Check the 7pin cable connecting the main board and the key board to see if it is
correctly plugged at the fixed positions, or re-plug it.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the front board or the main board.
3. Main Board
- Check to see if U301 has short circuit, broken circuit, hollow soldering, or other
problems. Also check if U301 pin1 has a 5V output.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the front board or the main board.
T05 Stay in the Run In condition after power on, can’t be tested
1. Main Board
- Remove the top cover and replace with another U201 F/W.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
T06 System down at power on
1. Main Board
- Remove the top cover, check all flat cables in the system to see if they are
correctly plugged to the fixed positions, or re-plug them.
- Disassemble F/W, replace with a good one or re-plug it to see if the symptom
will disappear.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
T07 System down during play
1. Main Board
- Remove the top cover, check all flat cables in the system to see if they are
correctly plugged to the fixed positions, or re-plug them.
- Disassemble F/W, replace with a good one or re-plug it to see if the symptom
will disappear.
- Check the resistors or capacitors of J903, U901, or U701 on the main board, or
those adjacent to IC to see if there is any hollow soldering, cold soldering,
wrong part, or misplaced soldering.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
2. DVD ROM
- Check the loader to see if it is not stable (any condition that some of the discs
can’t be played). If so, replace the loader.
3. DVD DISC
- Check the Test Disc to see if there is any serious scratch or ring shape, circular
shape scratches, if so, replace the Test Disc and test again.
T08 F/W version not match or can’t change the version
- Remove the top cover and replace the F/W of the main board to the latest

version that is being used at present and test again.
T09 Machine base temperature too high
1. F/W
- Check the F/W on the main board to see if the polarity is reversed, if so, replace
it or place it at the correct position.
2. PCBA
- Check and confirm the PCBA that is the source of the high temperature, replace
it.
T0A Power on unstable
1. Main Board
- Remove the top cover, check all flat cables in the system to see if they are
correctly plugged to the fixed positions, or re-plug them.
- Disassemble F/W (U201). Replace it with a good one or re-plug it to see if the
symptom will disappear.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
T0B Abnormal sound in the machine base (Power on abnormal sound)
1. DVD ROM
- Check the loader to see if it is the source of the abnormal sound. If so, replace
the loader.
T10 Disc drive abnormal sound
1. DVD ROM
- Check to see if the loader is the source of abnormal sound. If so, replace the
loader.
T11 DVD TDV-541 track-reading NG
1. Main Board
- Check the resistors or capacitors of J903, U901 or U701, or those adjacent to
IC to see if there is any hollow soldering, cold soldering, wrong part, or
misplaced soldering.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
2. DVD ROM
- Check the loader to see if it can’t read. If so, replace the loader.
T12 Disc drive can’t read (NO DISC)
1. Main Board
- Check the resistors or resistor-array adjacent to U101 Pin31-68 or IC, or U701

Pin89-132 or IC to see if there is any hollow soldering or cold soldering.
- Check the resistors or capacitors of J903, U901, U701, or U702, or those
adjacent to IC to see if there is any hollow soldering, cold soldering, wrong part,
or misplaced soldering.
- Check to see whether J302 is damaged.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
2. DVD ROM
- Check the loader to see if it can’t read. If so, replace the loader.
T13 Disc drive no action or locked
1. Main Board
- Remove the cover. Check to see if it is caused by mis-assembly.
- Check the resistors or capacitors of J801, U801, or U802 on the main board, or
those adjacent to IC to see if there is any hollow soldering or cold soldering.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the loader. If it is still not working,
replace the main board.
T14 、 Disc drive scratches disc
1. Main Board
- Check the resistors or capacitors of J903, U901, or U701 on the main board, or
those adjacent to IC to see if there is any hollow soldering, cold soldering,
wrong part, or misplaced soldering.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the loader. If it is still not working,
replace the main board.
2. DVD ROM
- Check the loader to see if it is the cause of disc scratching. If so, replace the
loader.
T15 Not every disc can be played
1. Main Board
- Check the resistors or capacitors of J903, U901, or U701 on the main board, or
those adjacent to IC to see if there is any hollow soldering, cold soldering,
wrong part, or misplaced soldering.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the loader. If it is still not working,
replace the main board.
T16 Servo on abnormal
1. Main Board
- Check F/W (U41) on the main board to see if it has bad contact, if F/W IC has
any problem, or if U701 has any hallow or cold soldering.
- Disassemble F/W (U41). Replace it with a good one or re-plug it to see if the

symptom will disappear.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
T17 Head does not work
1. Main Board
- Remove the top cover, check the 30-pin flat cable in the system to see if they
are correctly plugged to the fixed positions, or re-plug them.
- Check the resistors or capacitors of J903, U901, or U701 on the main board, or
those adjacent to IC to see if there is any hollow soldering, cold soldering,
wrong part, or misplaced soldering.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the loader. If it is still not working,
replace the main board.
T18 Spindle does not work.
1. Main Board
- Remove the top cover, check the 18-pin flat cable in the system to see if they
are correctly plugged to the fixed positions, or re-plug them.
- Check the resistors or capacitors of J801 or U802 on the main board, or those
adjacent to IC to see if there is any hollow soldering, cold soldering, wrong part,
or misplaced soldering.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the loader. If it is still not working,
replace the main board.
T20 、 no video / abnormal
1. Main Board
- Remove the cover. Check J502 on the main board to see if there is any cold or
hollow soldering and rule out the problem.
- Remove the top cover, check all flat cables in the system to see if they are
correctly plugged to the fixed positions, or re-plug them.
- Check the resistors or resistor-array adjacent to U101 Pin31-68 on the main
board or IC, or U701 Pin89-132 or IC to see if there is any short circuit, hollow
soldering or cold soldering. Rule out the problem if there is any.
- Use oscilloscope to measure if YM401 generates 27MHz. If it does not
generate said frequency, and the problems such as cold or hollow soldering
have been ruled out, it could be YM401 NG. Replace YM401.
- Check U201 to see if it has bad contact or if F/W IC has any problem.
- If the above actions are not working, replace the Main Board.
2. DVD ROM (less likely to happen)
- If it is useless to change the main board, then replace the loader.
