Quick Start Guide
Press the lid down while sliding it away
from the end with the USB port. The
enclosure contains a circuit board and a
package of four screws.
Carefully remove the circuit board from the
enclosure, then insert your 2.5" hard drive’s
SATA and power connectors into the SATA
and power slots on the circuit board. Make
sure that the connectors are fully inserted.

Turn the hard drive assembly over, then
secure the circuit board to the hard drive
using the two large screws in the package.
Make sure that the circuit board and hard
drive remain aligned while you ghten the
screws.
Carefully slide the assembly into the
enclosure so that the port(s) on the circuit
board slide into the port opening(s) on the
enclosure, and the two posts in the
opposite end of the enclosure align with
the two holes at the boom of the drive.
Place the lid on top of the enclosure,
making sure that the two copper screw
holes in the enclosure are aligned with the
screw holes on the circuit board, then
press the lid down while sliding it toward
the end with the USB port. Make sure that
the lid is flush with the enclosure case.
Secure the lid to the case using the two
small screws in the package.
LED
Turn on the computer, then connect the USB 2.0 or IEEE 1394
(FireWire) cable to the corresponding port in the enclosure.
Connect the USB 2.0 or IEEE 1394 (FireWire) cable to an
available port on the computer. The enclosure is automacally
detected by the computer, and the enclosure’s LED acvity
indicator shines steadily blue. The same LED flashes while the
drive is being accessed.
Cauon: The enclosure should be connected to the computer
using only one type of cable. Connecng more than one cable
may cause data errors and damage the enclosure’s circuit board
and hard drive.
Note: FireWire cables can only be connected to the DM1F
enclosure.

Seng up on a PC
When your new hard drive is connected to your
Windows Vista computer and turned on, you may noce
nothing at all, or a small message may appear saying that
Windows Vista is installing device driver soware. Either
may be the case, since Windows handles new, unformat-
ted drives in several different ways.

When the enclosure is connected to your computer, you
should run the computer management soware built
into Windows. Click Start, right-click Computer, then
click Manage.
Click in the Disk Management secon. Aer a few
moments, all disks connected to the system appear in
the list.
Right-click on the disk named “Unknown” that matches
the capacity of the hard drive you installed into the
enclosure, then click Inialize. Accept the defaults, then
click OK.
Type the name you want to give this new storage volume
(if any), then select the type of format you want to give
the disk. Most Mac users will select the nave Mac file
system.

Make sure that the size matches the hard drive you
installed, click Paron, then click Paron again to
confirm. You are now ready to store files on your new
hard drive.

Idenfy the new hard drive.
Click Paron and select a volume scheme that matches
how you want to use your hard drive. Most users choose
a single paron (1 paron).

Mulple operang systems
When your new hard drive is connected to your Mac and
powered on, a “Disk Inseron” noce opens. Click
Inialize, and the Disk Ulity opens.

Note: If you want to use this storage device on mulple
operang systems (such as Mac OS X, Windows, or Linux),
then you may want to format it with a cross-plaorm file
system, such as FAT32. Windows cannot format large
volumes using FAT32, but you can format it using
third-party disk ulies or the built-in tools on Mac OS X
