Viewer Overview
There are two viewers associated with the UCIT platform, one for live viewing and one for viewing the
videos stored on the Compact Flash card.
Safety Track 3G Viewer
The Safety Track 3G Viewer is used to view the DVR cameras real time. In addition to viewing the
cameras, the viewer also acts as a real time GPS tracking device for all of your vehicles equipped with
the UCIT device.
Safety Track Desktop Viewer
The Safety Track Desktop Viewer is used to view the video files stored on the Compact Flash (CF) card.
Viewing the videos directly from the CF card will also show GPS coordinates on the embedded Google
Map. This software is also used to create manual backup of the video files should they be required.
Viewer Download and Installation
Both the Safety Track 3G Viewer and the Safety Track Desktop Viewer applications can be downloaded
from our website at www.safetytrack.net/support/file-downloads.
Once downloaded, launch the executable and the software will be installed on your machine.
*Note: t this time, both viewers are only compatible with Windows. Mac and Linux are not supported.

Signing on to Application
Launch the application by double clicking the icon on your desktop or in your Programs menu. Enter the
username and password that was setup at the time of order, and then click the Login button.
*Note: t the login prompt, ensure the Center Server Address is camera.safetytrack.net, the Center
Server TCP Port is 24680 and the Center Server UDP Port is 24681. If these settings are not correct, the
application will not sign on.

3G Viewer Navigation
‘Preview’ Screen
Real Time Video Viewing
Once logged in to the application, you will now see all of your online devices. By default, the application
will always log on to the Preview Screen.
To begin viewing the real time video, click on the + radio button next to the vehicle to be viewed which
will display the available cameras. Right click the mouse on the channel to be viewed and click on play.
The application will then connect to the camera and display the video feed on one of the screens to the
right of the vehicle list (Video Screens). successful connection to the camera is identified by the
camera icon for the respective channel turning green.
Snapshots
During live stream viewing, the user has the ability to take still shots for further review or archiving. To
take a still shot of a stream, click on the camera icon at the top right corner of the application.

Local Recording
During live stream viewing, the user has the ability to record the stream session and save the recording
locally to their PC. To start recording a stream, click on the video camera icon at the top right corner of
the application.
By default, the recording will be 60 seconds. To change the length of the recording time, click on the
Options tab in the menu bar and then select Record Settings. The recording duration can then be
modified to the user’s preference.
Vehicle Overview
The Vehicle Overview section is a quick snapshot of all online devices, their current speed of travel, and
the last time the system has sent an update. This section is useful for speed monitoring of the fleet.
G S Tracking
To view the location of a single unit, simply click on the unit in the vehicle section of the application. The
GPS Map will show the location of the unit, and if moving, will provide a bread crumb trail of its
movements.
To view the entire fleet’s GPS location, click on the Map Icon on the top right corner of the screen.

Video Screen Layout
The Video Screen section of the application can have up to 16 windows for multi-unit viewing. To change
the layout of the Video Screen section and to add or remove screens, select style from the menu bar and
select the desired layout.

‘Event’ Screen
The Event Screen has the Vehicle Overview, Video Screen, and GPS Map sections like the Preview
screen, with the only change being the Vehicle List section being replaced with an Event Log. This log
records when devices connect and disconnect. Video streaming, and vehicle overview will continue to
work on this screen.

‘Route’ Screen
The Route Screen allows a user to query the historical track of a unit within a specified time period.
Running Historical Route Query
To run a route report on a unit, select the unit from the dropdown menu under CarName/ID and modify
the date ranges to reflect the time period required, and then click search. The map will then show a
breadcrumb trail showing the movement of the vehicle for the selected time period.

Desktop Viewer Navigation
Information Panel
The information panel is on the left side of the application and displays the speed, direction, and G-
Force outputs collected from the video recordings as well as acts as the control center for playback
functions.
Compass
The compass displays the current driving direction of the vehicle during the recording. It also displays
the latitude and longitude of the vehicle under the compass for GPS purposes. You can view these
coordinates on a map by clicking the in the settings bar.
G-Force Meter
The G-Force Meter displays the output of the embedded accelerometer in G measurements. This
information can be used to determine things like hard acceleration/braking (Y- xis), hard turns/corners
(X- xis), and impacts (Z- xis). s a general rule of thumb, anything over 2G is a hard brake/acceleration
or turn. Impact readings vary based on road conditions (such as pot holes, speed bumps, etc.).
Vehicle Speed
The Vehicle Speed meter is the speed of travel of the vehicle during video recording. The measurement
can be adjusted from mph to km/h in the settings bar by clicking .
layback Speed
The playback speed section allows the user to advance through the video playback as well as adjust the
speed in which the video plays.
Volume
The volume section adjusts the volume of the recorded audio on the video playback. This function is
only available on DVRs that have the optional audio service subscription.

The playback controls are common video player controls; such as pause, rewind, fast forward, etc.
Settings
The setting controls allow the user to customize the software; as well as open files, view maps, initiate
backups, and take snapshots.

Video Playback
Selecting Video Files for layback
Compact Flash
Insert the CF card into the USB reader and connect to your PC. In the Desktop Viewer software, click on
the icon in the Settings bar which opens the Playback dialogue. Click the radio button next to
Removable Storage and select the drive your PC assigned the CF card (typically E:\). The video files will
be displayed in the Playback dialogue and are sorted by date. Locate the time and date of the video you
wish to view, and double click.
Backup File
Video playback from a backup file (detailed in a later section) containing manual video backups can be
done by using the above mentioned procedure, and selecting the Backup File radio button and not the
Removable Storage.
Video Backup
To manually backup video files follow the below procedure:
•Create a folder on the PC’s C:\ drive with a unique name (e.g. Video Backup)
•On the viewer software, click on the in the settings bar, which opens the Backup dialogue
•Select the Removable Storage radio button and select the drive associated with your CF card
•Select either a single video file from the list, or input a date range in the Record Start and Record
End Time fields
•Select the Backup Format
oR W Backup File: This is a copy of the original file and contains the Speed, G-Force, and
GPS data. This file can only be played with the Safety Track Desktop Viewer
o VI Backup File: This option converts the video clip from the proprietary format to a
standard video format for viewing on any PC that does not have the Desktop Viewer.
This conversion removes the Speed, G-Force, and GPS data and creates four video files,
one per camera
•Select Backup Path. This path is the path to the folder created on the C:\ drive (e.g. C:\Video
Backup)
•Click Backup
The Backup progress bar will indicate how far along the backup process is, and a completion message
will pop up on the screen when the backup is finished.

Configuration Menu
The configuration menu is to setup recording parameters for the CF card while in the DVR. This menu is
for DVRs without our 3G option. The DVRs without the 3G module will use this software to configure the
CF card and is outlined in a separate user manual.
*Note: The Unit Of Speed option in this menu is used to change the Vehicle Speed setting under the
Information Bar. This option can be modified on both 3G and Non-3G models.
