• Formaximum safety, installers should always carefully
read the following warnings.
• Store the operation and installation manual in a safe
location and rememberto hand it overto the new
ownerif the airconditioneris sold ortransferred.
• This manual explains howto install an indoorunit with
a split systemwith two SAMSUNG units. The use of
othertypes of unitswith different control systems may
damage the units and invalidate thewarranty. The
manufacturershall not be responsible fordamages
arising from the use of non compliant units.
• The manufacturershall not be responsible fordamage
originating from unauthorized changes orthe
improperconnection of electric and requirements set
forth in the“Operating limits” table, included in the
manual, shall immediatelyinvalidate thewarranty.
• The airconditionershould be used only forthe
applications forwhich it has been designed: the indoor
unit is not suitable to be installed in areas used for
laundry.
• Do not use the units if damaged. If problems occur,
switchthe unit off and disconnect it from the power
supply.
• In orderto prevent electric shocks, fires orinjuries,
always stopthe unit, disable the protection switch
and contact SAMSUNG’s technical support if the unit
produces smoke, if the powercable is hot ordamaged
orif the unit is very noisy.
• Always rememberto inspectthe unit, electric
connections, refrigerant tubes and protections
regularly. These operations should be performed by
qualified personnel only.
• The unit contains moving parts,which should always
be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not attempt to repair, move, alterorreinstall the
unit. If performed byunauthorized personnel, these
operations maycause electric shocks orfires.
• Do not place containerswith liquids orotherobjects
on the unit.
• All the materials usedforthe manufacture and
packaging of the airconditionerare recyclable.
• The packing material and exhaust batteries of the
remote controller(optional) must be disposed of in
accordance with current laws.
• The airconditionercontains a refrigerant that has
to be disposed of as specialwaste.At the end of its
life cycle,the airconditionermust be disposed of in
authorized centres orreturnedto the retailerso that it
can be disposed of correctlyand safely.
• Wearprotective equipment (such as safetygloves,
goggles, and headgear) during installation and
maintenanceworks.
Installation/repairtechnicians maybe injured if
protective equipment is not properlyequipped.
• This appliance is not intended foruse bypersons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
ormental capabilities, orlack of experience and
knowledge, unless theyhave been given supervision
orinstruction concerning use of the appliance bya

WARNING
IMPORTANT:When installing theunit, alwaysremember
toconnectfirsttherefrigeranttubes,thentheelectrical
lines.
• Upon receipt, inspectthe producttoverifythat
it has not been damaged during transport. If the
product appears damaged, DO NOTINSTALLit and
immediatelyreport the damageto the carrieror
retailer(if the installerorthe authorizedtechnician has
collected the material from the retailer.)
• Aftercompleting the installation, always carryout a
functional test and provide the instructions on howto
operatethe airconditionerto the user.
• Do not use the airconditionerin environmentswith
hazardous substances orclose to equipment that
release free flames to avoid the occurrence of fires,
explosions orinjuries.
• Do not install the product in a place where
thermohygrostat is needed (such as serverroom,
machineryroom, computerroom, etc.). Those places
do not provide guaranteed operation condition of the
producttherefore performance can be poorin these
places.
• Do not install the product in a ship oravehicle (such
as a campervan). Salt,vibration orotherenvironmental
factormay cause the product malfunction, electric
shock orfire.
• Ourunits should be installed in compliancewith the
spaces shown in the installation manual,to ensure
accessibilityfrom both sides and allowrepairs or
maintenance operations to be carried out. The
unit’s components should be accessible and easy to
disassemblewithout endangering people and objects.
• Forthis reason,when provisions ofthe installation
manual are not compliedwith, the cost required to
access and repairthe units (in SAFETY CONDITIONS,
as set out in prevailing regulations)with harnesses,
ladders, scaffolding oranyotherelevation system will
NOTbe considered part of thewarrantyandwill be
chargedto the end customer.

conditionerin compliance with current local safety
standards.
• Alwaysverifythat a suitable earthing connection is
available.
• Verifythat thevoltage and frequencyof the power
supplycomplywith the specifications and that the
installed poweris sufficient to ensurethe operation of
anyotherdomestic appliance connected to the same
electric lines.
• Alwaysverifythat the cut-off and protection switches
are suitably dimensioned.
• Verifythat the airconditioneris connected to the
powersupplyin accordancewith the instructions
provided in thewiring diagram included inthe manual.
• Alwaysverifythat electric connections (cable entry,
section of leads, protections…) are compliant with
the electric specifications andwith the instructions
provided in thewiring scheme.Always verify that all
connections complywith the standards applicableto
the installation of airconditioners.
• Devices disconnected from the powersupplyshould
be completelydisconnected in the condition of
overvoltage category.
• Be sure notto perform powercable modification,
extensionwiring, and multiple wire connection.
– It maycause electric shock orfire due to
poorconnection, poorinsulation, orcurrent limit
override.
– When extensionwiring is required dueto power
line damage, referto "Step 4 Optional: Extending
thepowercable" inthe installation manual.

• Installthe unitinawell-ventilatedlocationawayfrom direct

• Installthe unit ina locationthatwouldnot obstruct any
passagewaysorthoroughfares.
• Installthe unit ina locationthatwouldnot inconvenienceor
disturbyourneighbors, as theycouldbe affectedbythe noiseor
theairflowcomingfromtheunit.
• Installthe unitina locationwherethepipesand thecablescan
beeasilyconnectedtotheindoorunit.
• Installthe unitonaflat, stablesurfacethatcanwithstandthe
weightofthe unit.Otherwise,theunit cangeneratenoise and
vibrationduringoperation.
• Install the unit so that the airflowis directed towards the open
area.
• Maintainsufficient clearancearoundtheoutdoorunit,especially
fromaradio,computer,stereosystem,etc.

• Install the unit at a heightwhere its base can be firmly
fixed in place.
• Make sure that thewaterdripping from the drain hose
runs awaycorrectly and safely.
CAUTION
• You have just purchased a system airconditioner
and it has been installed byyourinstallation
specialist.
• This device must be installed according tothe
national electrical rules.
• Ifyouroutdoorunit exceeds a netweight of 60 kg,
do not install it on a suspendedwall, but stand it
on a floor.
• When installing the outdoorunit at the seaside, make
surethat it is not directlyexposed to sea breeze. If
you cannotfind an adequate place free from direct
sea breeze, construct a protection wall ora protective
fence.
– Install the outdoorunit in a place (such as near
buildings etc.)where it can be prevented from sea
breeze. Failure to do so may cause a damageto the
outdoorunit.

• Ifyou cannot avoid installing the outdoorunit at the
seaside, construct a protection wall aroundto block
the sea breeze.
• Construct a protection wall with a solid material such
as concrete to block the sea breeze. Make sure that the
height and thewidth of thewall are1.5 times larger
than the size ofthe outdoorunit. Also, secure a space
largerthan 700 mm between the protectionwall and
the outdoorunit forexhausted airto ventilate.

CAUTION
• Depending on the condition of powersupply, unstable
powerorvoltage maycause malfunction of the parts
orcontrol system. (At the ship orplaces using power
supplyfrom electric generator...etc)
• Install the unit in a placewhere watercan drain
smoothly.
• If you have anydifficultyfinding installation location as
prescribed above, contact yourmanufacturerfordetails.
• Be sure to clean the sea waterand the dust on the heat
exchangerof the outdoorunit and applya corrosion
inhibitoron it. (At least once in ayear.)
• Check the condition of the product periodically.
– Check the installation site every3 months and
perform anti-corrosion treatment such as R-Pro
supplied by SAMSUNG (Code: MOK-220SA) or
commercialwaterrepellent grease and wax, etc.,
based on the product condition.
– When the product is to be shut down fora long
period of time, such as off-peak hours, take
appropriate measures like covering the product.
• If the product installedwithin 500m of seashore, special
anti-corrosiontreatment is required.

CAUTION
• The outdoorunit must be installed according to the
specified distances in orderto permit accessibility
from each side, to guarantee correct operation,
maintenance, and repairof the unit. The components
of the outdoorunit must be reachable and removable
undersafe conditions forpeople and the unit.

Install the outdoorunit on a rigid and stable base to
prevent disturbance from anynoise caused byvibration.
When installing the unit at a height orin a location
exposed to strong winds,fix the unit securelyto a support
(i.e., awall ora ground).
Fix the outdoorunitwith anchorbolts. Make sure thatthe

• Install a drain outlet atthe lowest end around the base

• When installing the outdoorunit on the roof,
waterproof the unit and check the ceiling strength.
• Make sure that thewall can support theweights ofthe

Step3 Connectingthepowercables,
communicationcable,andcontrollers
You must connect the following three electrical cables to
the outdoorunit:
• The main powercable between the auxiliary circuit
breaker and the outdoorunit.
• The outdoor-to-indoorpowercable betweenthe
outdoorunit and the indoorunit.
• The communication cable between the outdoorunit
and the indoorunit.
CAUTION
• During installation, makefirst the refrigerant
connections and then the electrical connections. If the
unit is uninstalled, first disconnectthe electrical cables
and then the refrigerant connections.
• Connectthe airconditionerto the earthing system
before making the electrical connections.
NOTE
• Especially, ifyouroutdoorunit is the one designed for
Russian and European markets, consult the supply
authority, if necessary,to estimate and reduce the
supplysystem impedance before installation.

CAUTION
• You should connect the powercable into the powercable terminal andfasten itwith a clamp.
• The unbalanced powermust be maintainedwithin 2% of supplyrating.
If the poweris unbalanced greatly, it may shortenthe life of the condenser. If the unbalanced poweris exceeded over
4% of supplyrating, the indoorunit is protected, stopped and the errormode indicates.
• To protect the product fromwaterand possible shock,you should keep the powercable andthe connection cord of
the indoorand outdoorunitswithin ducts. (with appropriate IP rating and material selection foryourapplication)
• Ensurethat main supplyconnection is made through a switch that disconnects all poles, with contact gap of a least

CAUTION

• If cablewires are connected without using connecting
sleeves, theircontact area becomes reduced, or
corrosion develops on the outersurfaces ofthewires
(copperwires) overa long time. This may cause an
increase of resistance (reduction of passing current)

4 Using a crimping tool, compress the two points and
flip it overand compress anothertwo points in the

• Cut the pipe outletto the exact pipe size. In addition,
remove foreign substances and burres aroudthe

nevertapwith a hammernearthe pipe outlet.
Otherwise, it maycause product damage such as

• Afterconnecting the pipeswith Pipe outlet, plug the
space aroundthe pipes.
• Afterconnecting the pipes, proceed exactlyas directed
in the guide to prevent interference with the internal
parts.
• Tighten the nuts to the specified torques. If
overtightened,the nuts could be broken so refrigerant
mayleak.
• Protect orenclose refrigerant tubing to avoid
mechanical damage.
• Afterinstalling pipes, block the unused knock hole
to prevent small animal from entering. However, the
radiant heat hole(A) should be able to intake air.
