➢The actual configuration of your TV may be different, depending on
your model.
1) Switch the TV on and off
2) Remote control sensor
3) Standby & Timer indicator
4) Display the on-screen
menu

➢◆You can use the C/P.buttons to switch on the TV when it is in standby mode.
◆The - +and C/P.buttons have the same function as the ▲/▼/œ/√buttons
on the remote control in main menu mode.
➢If the remote control no longer works or you have misplaced it, you can use the controls on the
panel of the TV.
◆Press the MENU button once in DTV mode, then the DTV menu is displayed.
For displaying the analog menu, press it twice. Press the MENU button three times to off.
◆To change external sources, display the analog menu by pressing the MENU button twice and
refer to “Viewing an External Signal Source” on page 52.

Inserting the Batteries into the Remote Control
You must insert or replace the batteries in the remote control when
you:
◆Purchase the television
◆Find that the remote control is no longer operating
correctly
1Remove the cover on the rear of the remote control by pressing
the symbol ( ) downwards and then pulling firmly to remove it.
2Insert two R03, UM4, “AAA” 1.5V or equivalent batteries taking
care to respect the polarities:
◆ - on the battery against - on the remote control
◆ + on the battery against + on the remote control
3Replace the cover by aligning it with the base of the remote
control and pressing it back into place.
➢Do not mix battery types, i.e. alkaline and manganese.

To view television channels correctly, a signal must be received by
the set from one of the following sources:
◆An outdoor aerial
◆A cable television network
◆A satellite network
1In the first three cases, connect the aerial or network input cable to
the ANT IN on the rear of the television.
2If you are using an indoor aerial, you may need to adjust it when
tuning your television until you obtain a picture that is both sharp
and clear.

The mains lead is attached to the rear of your television.
1Plug the mains lead into an appropriate socket.
➢
The main voltage is indicated on the rear of the television
and the frequency is 50 or 60Hz.
2Press the “ ” (On/Off) button on the front of the television.
Result:The Standby indicator on the front of the television
lights up.
3Press the POWER ()button on the remote control to switch the
television on.
Result :The programme that you were watching last is re-
selected automatically.
➢If you have not yet stored any channels, no clear picture
appears. Refer to “Storing Channels Automatically” on page
32 or “Storing Channels Manually” on page 34.
➢You can also switch the television back on by pressing the
P/(or C/P.on the front panel) or numeric
button on the remote control.
4To switch your television off, press the “ ” (On/Off) button again.
Placing Your Television in Standby Mode
Your television can be placed in Standby mode, in order to reduce:
◆Power consumption
◆Wear of the cathode ray tube
Standby mode can be useful when you wish to interrupt viewing
temporarily (during a meal, for example).
1Press the POWER ()button on the remote control.
Result :The screen is turned off and the Standby indicator
on the front of the television lights up in red.
2To switch the television back on, simply press the POWER ()
button again.
➢You can also switch the television back on by pressing the
P/(or C/P.on the front panel) or numeric
button on the remote control.
☛Do not leave your television in Standby mode for long
periods of time (when you are away on holiday, for
example). Turn your television off by pressing the “ ”
(On/Off) button on the front of the television. It is best to
unplug the set from the mains and aerial.

When the television is initially powered on, three basic customer
settings proceed automatically and subsequently: setting the
language, channel and clock.
1If the television is in Standby mode, press the POWER ()button
on the remote control.
Result:The message Plug & Play is displayed. It flickers for
a little while and then Language menu is automatically
displayed.
2Select the appropriate language by pressing the ▲or ▼button.
Press the ENTER()
button to enter the language.
Result:The message Check antenna input. is displayed.
➢
If any language is not selected on the Language menu, the
Language menu will disappear about 30 seconds later.
3Make sure that the antenna is connected to the TV.
Press the ENTER ()
button.
Result:The Auto Store menu is displayed with Country
selected.
4Press the ENTER () button again. Select your area by pressing
the ▲or ▼ button, then press the ENTER ()
button.
To search the channels, select Search by pressing the ▲or ▼
button, and then press the ENTER () button.
Press the ENTER ()
button again to start search the channels.
Press the MENU ()
button to stop the search.
Result:The Time menu is displayed with Clock selected.

5Press the œor √button to move to the hour or minute. Set the
hour or minute by pressing the ▲or ▼ button.

6When you have finished, press the MENU () button.
Result:The menu is turned to Auto Store in DTV mode
automatically.
7If you want to reset this feature...
➢Not available in DTV mode.
1Press the MENU () button.
2Press the ▲or ▼button to select Setup, and then press the
ENTER () button.
Result:The Plug & Play is selected.
3Press the ENTER () button again.
Result:This feature starts with the message Plug & Play
displayed.

Using the P / buttons.
Press the P/Pbutton on the remote control ( C/P.on the
front of TV).
The TV changes channels in sequence. You can select all channels
(analog and digital channels) that the TV has memorized.
➢You can not select channels that were either erased or not
memorized.
Using the numeric (0~9) buttons.
Press the numeric buttons to quickly tune to any channel.
➢You can select all channels that were either erased or not
memorized.
To select analog channel 27, press the 2, then 7.
To select digital channel 27, press the 0, 2, then 7.
The TV will change channels when you press the second number.
To change to single-digit channels (0~9) faster, press the 0before the
single digit. (For analog channel 4, press the 0, then 4. For digital
channel 4, press the 0, 0, then 4.)
➢MHEG(Multimedia and Hypermedia Information
Coding Experts Group)?
An International standard for data encoding systems used
in multimedia and hypermedia. This is at a higher level
than the MPEG system which includes data-linking
hypermedia such as still images, character service,
animation, graphic and video files as well as multimedia
data. MHEG is user runtime interaction technology and is
being applied to various fields including VOD (Video-
On-Demand), ITV (Interactive TV), EC (Electronic
Commerce), tele-education, tele-conferencing, digital
libraries and network games.

Updating the Channel List Automatically
You can update the channel list when the broadcaster adds new
services or if you move the TV to a new location.
1Press the D.MENU button.
Result:The DTV menu is displayed.
2Press the ▲or ▼button to select Channel.
Result:The options available in the Channel group are
displayed.
3Press the ENTER () button.
Result:The Auto Store is selected.
4Press the ENTER () button again to start the search.
Result:When it has finished, the number of scanned services
will be displayed.
➢◆The existing favourite channel list will be deleted when
the channel list is updated.
◆To stop the scan before it has finished, press the
ENTER () or D.MENU button.
➢If the signal status is poor, the No service found!
Check the aerial connection message is displayed.

Updating the Channel List Manually
You can specify the channel or frequency for a fast channel search.
1Press the D.MENU button.
Result:The DTV menu is displayed.
2Press the ▲or ▼button to select Channel.
Result:The options available in the Channel group are
displayed.
3Press the ENTER () button.
4Press the ▲or ▼button to select Manual Store.
5Press the ENTER () button.
Result:The options available in the Manual Store group are
displayed.
6Press the œor √button to select Channel, Frequency, or
Bandwidth.
◆ Channel
Press the ▲, ▼ or numeric buttons (0~9) to select a channel.
The available channels are 21~68.
Result:The corresponding frequency for the selected
channel is automatically set.
◆ Frequency
You can specify the frequency (KHz) using the numeric
buttons (0~9). If you do not know the exact frequency, follow
the above step to select the frequency automatically using
channel.
◆ Bandwidth
Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select a bandwidth. The available
bandwidths are 7 and 8 MHz.
7Press the red button to start the scan for digital services.
Result:When it has finished, channels are updated in the
channel list.

Editing Your Favourite Channels
You can edit your favourite channels using the colour buttons.
1Press the D.MENU button.
Result:The DTV menu is displayed.
2Press the ▲or ▼button to select Channel.
Result:The options available in the Channel group are
displayed.
3Press the ENTER () button.
4Press the ▲or ▼button to select Favourite Channels.
5Press the ENTER () button.
Result:The Favourite Channels menu is displayed.
6Press the red button to display all currently stored channels.
7Press the ▲or ▼button to select a channel you want.
Press the ENTER ()
button.
Result:A“★”icon is shown next to the selected channel and
the channel will be added to the favourites list.
➢◆To undo, press the ENTER () button again.
◆Select All : Select all channels currently displayed.
◆Select None : Deselect all selected channels.
◆Preview : Displays (a) currently selected channel(s).
➢The Favourite Channels settings have been completed.
◆Add
You can use this function when one or more favourite channels
have been selected.
1Press the D.MENU button.
Result:The DTV menu is displayed.
2Press the ▲or ▼button to select Channel.
Result:The options available in the Channel group are
displayed.
3Press the ENTER () button.
4Press the ▲or ▼button to select Favourite Channels.

6Press the red button in the Favourite Channels menu.
To add more channels, refer to the step 7above.

Result:Displays currently selected channel.
◆Delete
1In the Favourite Channels menu, select the channel to be
deleted from the favourite channels list by pressing the ▲or ▼
button.
2Press the blue button.
Result:The selected channel and number will be deleted.

channel list, see “Add” on page 17.

Setting up the Parental Lock
This feature allows you to prevent unauthorized users, such as
children, from watching unsuitable programmes by a 4-digit PIN
(Personal Identification Number) code that is defined by the user.
The on-screen menu will instruct you to assign a PIN code (you can
change it later, if necessary).
1Press the D.MENU button.
Result:The DTV menu is displayed.
2Press the ▲or ▼button to select Preference.
Result:The options available in the Preference group are
displayed.
3Press the ENTER () button.
4Press the ▲or ▼button to select Parental Lock.
Press the ENTER ()
button.
Result:The Enter PIN is displayed.
5Enter your current 4-digit PIN code by using the numeric buttons
(0~9).
Result:The options available in the Parental Lock group are
displayed with the Parental Rating selected.
➢◆The default PIN code for a new TV set is 0000.
◆If you enter a invalid PIN code, the Invalid PIN
code. Please try again. message is displayed.
6Press the ENTER () button.
7Press the ▲or ▼button to select the age of 3~18 rating you want
to lock out. Press the ENTER ()
button.
➢
If you set the rating to lower than the parental control level
of the channel, the channel will be locked.
8If you want to change the PIN code, select Change PIN by
pressing the ▲or ▼button. Press the ENTER ()
button.
Result:The Enter New PIN is displayed.
9Enter your new PIN code by using the numeric buttons (0~9).
Result:The Confirm New PIN is displayed.
10 Re-enter your new PIN code to confirm by using the numeric
buttons (0~9).
Result:The Your PIN code has been changed
successfully message is displayed.
➢If you forget the PIN code, press the remote control
buttons in the following sequence, which resets the PIN
to 0-0-0-0: POWER (Off), MUTE, 8, 2, 4, POWER (On)

The EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) information is provided by the
broadcasters. Programme entries may appear blank or out of date as
result of the information broadcast on a given channel. The display will
dynamically update as soon as new information becomes available.
◆Now & Next Guide
For the six channels indicated in the left-hand column, displays
the Current programme and the Next programme information.
◆Full Guide
Displays the programme information as time ordered 30 minute
segments. One and half hours of programme information is
displayed which may be scrolled forwards or backwards in time.
1 Press the D.MENU button.
Result:The options available in the Guide group are displayed.
2 Press the ENTER () button.
3 Press the ▲or ▼button to select Now & Next Guide or Full
Guide. Press the ENTER ()
button.
Result:The selected guide menu is displayed.
➢You can also display the guide menu simply by pressing the
GUIDE button.

If the next programme is selected, it is scheduled with the
clock icon displayed. If the ENTER ()
button is pressed
again, the scheduling is canceled with the clock icon gone.For

View programme information ◆Select a programme of your
choice by pressing the
▲/▼/œ/√ button.
◆Press the INFO( ) button
when the programme of your
choice is highlighted.
Toggle between the Now & ◆Press the red button
Next Guide or Full Guide repeatedly.
Display the Favourites and ◆Press the green button
the All Channels list repeatedly.
View Categories ◆Press the yellow button.
Exit the guide ◆Press the blue button.
➢◆Information such as the channel number, programme
title and running time, status bar, and brief summary of
the highlighted programme will be displayed in the top
right corner of the screen. If there is a lengthy summary,
“…” will be displayed. Press the INFO ( ) button for
the full summary text.
◆Six channels are displayed. To scroll between channels,
move to a channel using the ▲or ▼button. To display
page by page, use the Por Pbutton.
