Internet security
Samsung takes anumberof steps toprotect its Internet-compatible Smart TVs against unauthori zed i ncurs i ons and
hacking . For example, certainsensitive communications between the TV and the Internet servers are encrypted. In
addition,the TV's operating system has adopted controlsto preventthe installation ofunauthorized applications.
Although we take steps toprotectyourSmart TV and persona l information, no Internet-connected device or
transmission is completely secure . We therefore encourage you totakeadditional steps to safeguard your TV, secure
yourInternetconnection, and mini mize the risk ofunauthori zed access . These steps are li sted below:
• When Samsung releases software updates toimprovethe securityof yo ur TV, you should promptlyinstall these
updates . To automatically receive these updates ,turn on Auto Update inthe TV 's menu (G, >®Settings>
Support> Software Update> Auto Update) . When an update is available, a popup message appears on the TV
screen. Accept the software download and update by selecting Yes when prompted. Take steps to secure your
wireless access point and network. Your access point's manualshould provide add itionaldetails about how to
implementthefollowing measures :
- Secure yourwireless access point's management setti ngs with a un i que password to prevent unauthorized
changes tosecurity related setti ngs .
-Implement standard encryption (e.g ., WPA2 encryption) on yourwireless access pointto secure yo urwirel ess
network signal.
- Secure access toyourwireless networkwith ahard-to- guess password.
-Confirmyour access point'sfirewall setting is enabled (if so equipped).
- Make sure thatallyourInternet-connected dev i ces are behind yournetwork'sfirewal l.
-Ifyour access pointor modem has astandby mode button, use itto disconnectyour home networkfrom the
Internet when it is not in use .
• Use strong passwords forallyourInternet accounts (Netflix, Facebook , etc.). If you r TV has a camera, recess the
camera intothe TV's bezel when it is notin use . Recessing the camera makes it inoperative.
• If any unexpected messages appear on your TV screen requesting permission tolinka dev i ce orenable aremote
sess i on, do NOT accept.
• Do notvisit suspicious web sites and do notinstall any suspic i ous programs. We recommend that users ins tallonly
those authorized apps provided by Samsung throu gh Samsung Sma rt Hub .
