Important
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accord-
ance with the following code:
Blue: Neutral
Brown: Live
If the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
equipment should not correspond to the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
The wire which is coloured blue must be connected
to the terminal which is marked with the letter ‘N’
or coloured black.
The wire which is coloured brown must be connected
to the terminal which is marked with the letter ‘L’ or
coloured red,
Ensure that your equipment is connected correctly.
If you are in any doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
For equipment purchased outside the U.K. with a
“EUROPEAN” two-pin mains plug, the plug should
be removed and connections made in accordance with
the above instructions. Ensure also that the equipment
is properly adjusted to 240 volts operation. If you are
in any doubt, consult a qualified electrician, or our

Precautions
Installation
* Never install the unit in dusty or humid locations, or in close
proximity to heating appliances. Also, do not place it near a flower
basin or fish bow!, for accidental spillover may cause fire, electrical
shock and/or breakdown.
Keep
the
unit
away
from
devices
which
emit
magnetism
(such
as
TV
sets,
motors,
transformers,
etc.).
When
mounting
the
unit
on
a
shelf,
be
sure
that
its
supports
are
solidly
fixed.

Install
the
unit
where
there
is
a
good
circulation
of
air.
Do not obstruct the ventilation opening of the cabinet.
Do not remove the cabinet cover of the unit.
Connection
* When connecting or re-locating the unit, be sure to turn the power
off or disconnect the power cable.
Be sure not to confuse the right channel with the left or inputs with
outputs. Check each step carefully.

Don't use thinner on equipment
* To clean the face and rear panels, wipe gently with a soft cloth
damped with water. Avoid the use of alcohol, thinners or benzine as
the surfaces in question may be permanently marred.

Installation
*
Ne placez jamais l'appareil dans un endroit poussiéreux ou humide,
ou a proximité immédiate d‘appareils de chauffage. De méme, éviter
la proximite de bacs a fleurs ou d’aquariums, car une projection
accidentelle d'eau peut étre la cause de feu, de court-circuits violents
et/ou d‘une fusion compléte de I‘appareil.
Eviter de placer cet appareil prés d'autres appareils équipés de struc-
tures magnétiques (comme les appareils de télévision, les moteurs,
les transformateurs, etc.).
Si vous installez l’appareil sur une étagére, s’assurer que les supports
soient bien fixés.
Installer l'appareil dans un endroit bien ventilé.
Ne pas obstruer les ouvertures de ventilation du coffret.
N‘enlevez pas le couvercle anti-poussiére de |‘appareil.
Connexion

Quand vous branchez |’appareil ou si vous l‘installez dans un nouvel
endroit, assurez-vous de couper }‘alimentation ou de disconnecter le
cable d‘alimentation.
S‘assurer de ne pas confondre le canal droit avec le canal gauche et
les entrées et les sorties. Contréler chaque étape soigneusement.
N’‘utilisez jamais du diluant synthetique sur l’appareil

Pour nettoyer les panneaux frontal arriére, essuyer doucement avec
un chiffon non rugueux imbibé d’eau. Eviter d’employer l’alcool, du
diluant ou de la benzine car les surfaces en question pourraient étre

DIRECT-O-MATIC Cassetten-Ladeeinrichtung
Die von unseren Ingenieuren entwickelte DIRECT-O-MATIC
Cassetten-Ladeeinrichtung ermédglicht ein-fachstes Einsetzen -und
Entfernen der Cassetten. Die Besonderheit dieser Einrichtung best-
eht in vereinfachtem Reinigen und Entmagnetisieren der Tonképfe.
Frontbedienung
Alle Bedienungselemente sind funktionsgerecht auf der Frontplatte
angebracht. Die neu konstruierten Bedienungstasten zeichnen sich
durch sofortiges Ansprechen auf geringsten Fingerdruck aus,
Vielseitige Bandlaufregelung
Sie kdnnen von Wiedergabe auf Schnellvorlauf oder Ruckspulen
schalten, ohne jedes Mal die STOP Taste zu drticken. Diese schnelle
Anderung der Betriebsart hilft Ihnen beim Einfangen des richtigen
Aufnahmeaugenblicks.
AUTO PLAY Schalter
Wenn dieser Schalter aktiviert ist und am Ende der Aufnahme bzw.
Wiedergabe die REWIND Taste betatigt wird, dann setzt auto-
matisch die Wiedergabe ein, sobald das Tonband bis zum Beginn
ruckgespult wurde.
AUTO REPEAT Schalter
Nach der Aufnahme oder Wiedergabe wird das Tonband auto-
matisch zuruckgespult, wonach wiederum die Wiedergabe einsetzt.
TIMER RECORD Schalter
Ermoglicht Bandaufzeichnungen in threr Abwesenheit zu einem
voreingesteliten Zeitpunkt,

Erméglicht automatische Wiedergabe eines bespielten Tonbandes zu
jedem beliebigen Zeitpunkt.

Connections
Connecting the LINE OUT (PLAY) terminals
Connect the accompanying pin plug cords between the LINE OUT
(PLAY)
terminals
of
your
tape
deck
and
the
tape
monitor
or
tape
play
terminals of your stereo amplifier.
Connecting the LINE IN (REC) terminals
Connect the other pair of the accompanying pin plug cords between
LINE IN (REC) terminals of your tape deck and the tape recording
terminals of your stereo amplifier or music system,
Connecting the REC/PLAY (DIN) connector socket
If your stereo amplifier or music system has a DIN connector socket,
your tape deck may be connected to it by connecting a single DIN
cable between the DIN connector socket on its rear panel and its
counterpart on the amplifier or music system,
Note:
To copy a recorded tape between the tape deck and another tape deck,
they must be connected with (RCA type) pin plugs. The use of DIN
cable is prohibited.
Grounding terminal
Be sure to connect the grounding terminal of your stereo amplifier or
other units to the GND terminal of your tape deck. Hum noise may be
suppressed.
Connecting headphones
\f you own a stereo headphone set, plug it into the PHONES jack on
the face panel of your tape deck to enjoy private listening. The head-
phone set, however, should have an impedance of 8.

Connexions
Branchement des bornes LINE OUT (PLAY)
Brancher l'une des extremités du cordon a fiches fourni avec l'appareil
aux bornes LINE OUT (PLAY) du magnétophone, et I’autre aux bornes
de contréle de bande ou reproduction de l’amplificateur ou de la chaine
stéréo.

Brancher }’‘autre extrémité de cordon a fiches fourni avec |‘appareil aux
bornes LINE IN (REC) du magnétophone, et aux bornes d’enregistre-
ment de l‘amplificateur ou de la chaine stéréo.
Branchement du connecteur REC/PLAY (DIN)
Si l'amplificateur ou la chaine stéréo est dotée est dotée d’un con-
necteur DIN, il est possible de réasliser simultanément les connexions
pour |’enregistrement et la reproduction par un seul cordon DIN entre
jie connecteur DIN du tableau arroére du magnétophone et le con-
necteur identique de I’amplificateur.
Remarque:
Pour copier un enregistrement d’un magnétophone sur un autre, il
faudra utiliser les bornes a fiche (de type RCA). L’utilisation du con-
necteur DIN est impossible.
Borne de terre :
S’assurer de bien raccorder la borne be terre de Il’amplificateur stéréo ou
une autre unité a la borne GND de votre magnétophone, ceci pour
supprimer le ronflement.
Branchement du casque d’écoute
Si I’on dispose d'un casque d‘écoute stéréo, on pourra le brancher a la
prise jack PHONES se trouvant en facade du magnétophone et écouter
des enregistrements en privé, sans déranger son entourage. Le casque
d'écoute doit avoir une impédance d‘au moins 82.

Hinweis:
Fur Bandiberspielungen zwischen !threm Tonbandgerat und einem
anderen Tonbandgerat sind Stiftkabel (RCA-Typ) erforderlich. DIN-
Kabel durfen nicht verwendet werden.
Erdungsklemme
Achten Sie darauf, die Erdungsklemme Ihres Stereoverstarkers oder
anderer Einheiten an die Klemme GND des Tonbandgerates anzu-
schlieRen, da hierdurch Brummen verhindert werden kann,
Anschlu& von kopfhorern
Wenn Sie Stereokopfhoer besitzen, k6nnen Sie sie an der PHONES
Buchse auf der Voederseite des Gerates anschlieRen, um alleine zu
horen. Die Kopfhorer sollten jedoch eine Impedanz von 8 haben.

Raise
the
switch

The

Cover
should
be
kept
closed
except
when
necessary
so
that
dust
and
dirt
are
kept
away

tape

be

Engage this switch to utilize the Timer Play function. You can use the
TIMER PLAY switch with the AUTO REPEAT switch or use it with

12 TIMER REC Switch
Engage this switch to utilize the Timer Rec function. You can combine
both, the TIMER REC and AUTO REPEAT switches as well as the
TIMER REC, AUTO REPEAT and MEMORY switches. In the latter
case the timer will first start the recording. Then, once the recording
has begun, the Auto Repeat and Memory functions will activate, (See
the section on ‘‘Timer record.’’)

Enden ausgeriistet, das nicht aus Magnetband besteht. Durch Driicken
des TAPE LEAD-IN Schalters wird das Tonband einige Sekunden rasch
vorgespult, bis das Magnetband erreicht ist, wonach das Bandlaufwerk
automatisch abgeschaltet wird.
e Der TAPE LEAD-IN Schalter arbeitet wahrend jeder beliebigen
Bandlauffunktion.
11Schalter fir unbeaufsichtigte Wiedergabe (TIMER PLAY)
Diesen Schalter betatigen, wenn Wiedergaben zu einem beliebigen Zeit-
punkt gewiinscht werden, Der TIMER PLAY Schalter kann auch in
Verbindung mit dem AUTO REPEAT Schalter oder dem AUTO RE-

12 Schalter fiir unbeaufsichtigte Aufnahme (TIMER REC)
Diesen Schalter betatigen, wenn unbeaufsichtigte Aufnahmen durch-
gefiinrt werden sollen. Der TIMER REC Schalter kann auch in Ver-
bindung mit dem AUTO REPEAT Schalter oder dem AUTO REPEAT
Schalter und dem MEMORY Schaiter eingesetzt werden. !m letzt-
genannten Fall wird die Aufnahme durch die Zeitschalterfunktion
eingeschaltet; sobald die Aufnahme begonnen hat, werden Wieder-
