wide rotary sweeper. Hardwearing nylon broom, driven by a bevel gearbox from the tractor PTO, has
hydraulically controlled angling for left and right hand operation. Flotation springs (on older models) or
caster wheels (on newer models) reduce ground pressure on the broom for longer life.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
MODEL RS350 ROTARY SWEEPER
• Remove broom from the shipping crate. Remove shipping bracket.
• Remove the bottom belt shield from the hitch frame. Remove hose clamp from top of hitch frame.
• Loosen 3/8 locking nuts on square head set screws. Turn setscrews in. These setscrews are used
to level the broom and must be adjusted after the sweeper is mounted on the power unit. Install hitch
frame to sweeper by inserting stud into the swivel ball in the center front of the hitch frame. Attach the
rear swivel ball to the hitch frame using the 3/8 X 1 ange bolts & nuts previously removed from the
shipping bracket.
• Install belt and idler spring as shown in Photo 1.
• Reinstall bottom belt shield.
• Remove drive pulley shield and install the proper drive belt for the power unit. (See Photo 1) Replace
shield.
SEE BELT CHART PAGE 17 FOR PROPER BELT
• On sweeper install drive belt over left hitch arm and move tractor into position until the quick hitch can
be latched.
• Stop engine and install drive belt.
• Connect cylinder hoses to the auxiliary outlets. Extend the cylinder completely. Fasten hoses to hitch
frame with clamp as shown in Photo 2. Be certain that hoses are not stretched tight with the cylinder
fully extended. Keep hoses away from drive pulley.
• Adjust pivot stops to limit “tilt” of broom. EXTREME CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO LEVEL THE
BROOM AFTER IT ISATTACHED TO THE POWER UNIT! FAILURE TO LEVEL THE BROOM WILL
RESULT IN UNEVEN BROOM WEAR. (See page 9 Adjustments.)
• Choose power angle for right, left, or straight ahead position.
• With the sweeper mounted on the tractor, set the height adjustment by moving the 1/4" spacers on
the caster wheel frame.

OPERATION
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mount rotary sweeper according to instructions on page 7.
2. Raise sweeper to clear ground surface.
3. Adjust sweeper angle to the right, left or straight ahead position using the auxiliary hydraulic control
lever.
4. Engage PTO and set engine speed.
5. Lower sweeper by placing lift in FLOAT position. Check “FLOAT” pattern as described on page 7.
6. Move forward slowly.
7. Do not allow broom to bounce. This causes excessive broom wear. Adjustment of the oat can avoid
bounce.
8. Check the leveling of the broom each time the broom is used. The broom should contact the surface
equally the entire length of the broom. (See page 9 for leveling adjustment.)
Observe all Safety Decals.
Keep all Shields in Place.
Before leaving tractor, move Forward - Reverse control to neutral position, disengage PTO, set
parking brake and stop engine.
BE ALERT FOR OBJECTS IN THE PATH OF THE SWEEPER. POWER DRIVEN BROOM MAY
THROW OBJECTS CAUSING DAMAGE TO PROPERTY OR INJURY TO BYSTANDERS.

SERVICE
MAINTENANCE
DAILY (10 HOUR) MAINTENANCE:
1. Check for signs of loose bolts etc.
•Replace or tighten.
2. Check oil level in gearbox.
• Use #90 oil - 1/2 full
3. Remove cap plug and check chain.
Chain should not run dry.
• Lube with roller chain lube or #30 oil.
ANNUAL (100 HOUR) MAINTENANCE:
1. In addition to daily maintenance:
• Grease all bearings.
2. Remove chain shield and inspect.
• Lube and adjust chain.
3. Storage
•Clean entire machine and support on
blocks to keep broom off the oor. Weight on
the broom bristles will distort the shape of the
broom
ADJUSTMENTS
Leveling adjustment:
Leveling the broom is accomplished by tilting the
mounting plate in relation to the hitch frame.
There are two square head set screws with
locking nuts which need to be adjusted to level
the broom. Loosen the locking nuts and adjust
the set screws so that the broom touches the
surface equally the entire length of the broom.
Depending on the power unit, this adjustment
may vary from side to side, so adjust it for the
position which is most used. Example: If you use
the broom angled to the right most of the time,
adjust the leveling with the broom angled in that
position. NOTE: For best results and longer
broom life...level the broom in the straight ahead
position and then alternate broom use in both
angle positions.
Drive chain adjustment:
The broom bearing is mounted in slotted holes in
the main frame and can be adjusted forward to
tighten the chain. Remove the chain shield.
Loosen the bearing mounting bolts and tighten
the adjuster nut until the chain is tight. Retighten
bearing bolts and replace the chain shield.
Float adjustment:
Adjust oat setting in the following steps:
A. Take unit to an area of loose stones or dirt.
B. Engage PTO to rotate broom and drop to
“FLOAT” position.
C. Raise the broom and note the test pattern
on the ground. The test pattern should
be 1-1/2" to 2" wide. A wider pattern will
result in excessive broom wear and power
consumption.
D. Adjust spring tension by choosing the proper
chain link on Models 420, 430, 440 and 425.
Adjust traction booster on Model 220, 230
and 525 to provide the proper otation.
The gauge wheels allow the sweeper to follow the
contour of the surface. The height is adjustable in
1/4" increments by moving the spacers on the
caster wheel frame. The correct height adjustment
is when the broom just touches the surface and
provides a “clean sweep”. Excessive broom wear
and power requirements may result from settings
which are too low.
