immediately after purchase, after every use and every 30 days. This manual will show
you how to use your Instant Power™ safely and effectively. Please read, understand
and follow these instructions and precautions carefully, as this manual contains
important safety and operating instructions. The safety messages used throughout this
manual contain a signal word, a message and an icon.

To reduce the risk of a battery explosion, follow these instructions and those published1.12 by the battery manufacturer and the manufacturer of any equipment you intend to use
in the vicinity of the battery. Review the cautionary markings on these products and on
the engine.
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS2.
RISK OF EXPLOSIVE GASES. A SPARK
NEAR THE BATTERY MAY CAUSE A
BATTERY EXPLOSION. TO REDUCE THE
RISK OF A SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY:
NEVER smoke or allow a spark or2.1
ame in the vicinity of a battery or engine.
Remove personal metal items such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches when2.2 working with a lead-acid battery. A lead-acid battery can produce a short-circuit current
high enough to weld a ring or the like to metal, causing a severe burn.
Be extra cautious, to reduce the risk of dropping a metal tool onto the battery. It might2.3 spark or short-circuit the battery or other electrical part that may cause an explosion.
Do not permit the internal battery of the Instant Power™ to freeze. Never charge a2.4 frozen battery.
To prevent sparking, NEVER allow clips to touch together or contact the same piece of metal.2.5
Consider having someone nearby to come to your aid when you work near a2.6 lead-acid battery.
Have plenty of fresh water and soap nearby in case battery acid contacts your skin,2.7 clothing or eyes.
Wear complete eye and body protection, including safety goggles and protective2.8 clothing. Avoid touching your eyes while working near the battery.
If battery acid contacts your skin or clothing, immediately wash the area with soap and2.9
water. If acid enters your eye, immediately ood the eye with cold running water for at
least 10 minutes and get medical attention right away.
If battery acid is accidentally swallowed, drink milk, the whites of eggs or water. DO NOT2.10 induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately.
PREPARING TO USE THE INSTANT POWER™3.
RISK OF CONTACT WITH BATTERY ACID. BATTERY ACID
IS A HIGHLY CORROSIVE SULFURIC ACID.
Be sure the area around the battery is well ventilated3.1
while the jump starter is being used.
Clean the battery terminals before using the jump starter.3.2
During cleaning, keep airborne corrosion from coming into
contact with your eyes, nose and mouth. Use baking soda and water to neutralize the
battery acid and help eliminate airborne corrosion. Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
Add distilled water to each cell until the battery acid reaches the level specied by the 3.3
battery manufacturer. Do not overll. For a battery without removable cell caps, such as
valve regulated lead acid batteries (VRLA), carefully follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Read, understand and follow all instructions for the Instant Power™, battery, vehicle and3.4 any equipment used near the battery and Instant Power™. Study all of the vehicle and
battery manufacturer’s specic precautions to be followed while jump starting.
Determine the voltage of the battery by referring to the vehicle owner’s manual and3.5 make sure that the output voltage of the jump starter is correct.
Make sure that the Instant Power™ cable clips make tight connections.3.6

from the battery will corrode and damage the Instant Power™.
Do not operate the Instant Power™ in a closed-in area or restrict the ventilation in any way.4.3
CHARGING THE INTERNAL BATTERY OF THE INSTANT POWER™5.
IMPORTANT: CHARGE IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE, AFTER EACH USE
AND EVERY 30 DAYS TO KEEP THE INSTANT POWER™ INTERNAL BATTERY
FULLY CHARGED.
LED Indicators5.1
To check the internal battery’s status, press the Battery Status button on the front of the
Instant Power™.
The LED lights will indicate the charge level as follows:
A red LED• indicates a 50% or less charge, and you should immediately
recharge the Instant Power™.
A yellow LED• indicates a 50 to 75% charge. The Instant Power™ may be used,
but should be recharged as soon as possible.
A green LED• indicates the internal battery is fully charged.
NOTE: The internal battery’s percent of charge is most accurate when the Instant
Power™ has been disconnected from all devices and charging sources for a few hours.
Charging the Internal Battery using the Built-In Charger5.2
To charge, plug an 18 gauge (AWG) (0.82 mm1. 2) or larger extension cord onto it.
(Extension cord not included; must be purchased separately.)
Plug the other end of the extension cord into a 120V AC electrical wall outlet.2.
The CHARGING (RED) LED 3. will light, indicating charging.
The CHARGED (GREEN) LED 4. will light when the battery has reached full
charge. This could take up to 72 hours, due to the age and condition of the battery.
The charger will automatically go into maintain mode and maintain the battery at full
charge without damaging it.
Charge the Instant Power™ as soon as possible after each use.5.
Do not use the Instant Power™ while charging the internal battery.
You may also charge the internal battery while driving, using a male-to-male charger
cable (p/n 94500109 – not included). Insert one end of the charger cable into the 12V
DC power outlet and the other end into the vehicle’s accessory outlet (lighter socket).
Completely disconnect the charger cable when the engine is not running.
The CHARGING (RED) LED and the CHARGED (GREEN) LED do not
indicate charging status during this method of charging. Using this method to charge the
battery overrides the maintain mode and the battery can be overcharged. Monitor the
progress of the battery, and when it reaches a full (100%) charge, disconnect the
charger. Do not charge it for more than four hours and do not leave the battery
unattended or it could explode, causing property damage or personal injury.

Jump Starting a Vehicle Engine6.1
A SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY MAY CAUSE
A BATTERY EXPLOSION. TO REDUCE THE
RISK OF A SPARK NEAR THE BATTERY:
Do not use the Instant
Power™ while charging the
internal battery.
Turn the vehicle’s ignition OFF before making cable connections.1.
Position the DC cables to reduce the risk of damage by the hood, door and moving2. or hot engine parts. NOTE: If it is necessary to close the hood during the jump
starting process, ensure that the hood does not touch the metal part of the battery
clips or cut the insulation of the cables.
Stay clear of fan blades, belts, pulleys and other parts that can cause injury.3.
Check the polarity of the battery posts. The POSITIVE (POS, P, +) battery post 4.
usually has a larger diameter than the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) post.
Determine which post of the battery is grounded (connected) to the chassis. If the 5.
negative post is grounded to the chassis (as in most vehicles), see step 6. If the
positive post is grounded to the chassis, see step 7.
For a negative-grounded vehicle, connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip from the jump 6.
starter to the POSITIVE (POS, P, +) ungrounded post of the battery. Connect the
NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from the
battery. Do not connect the clip to the carburetor, fuel lines or sheet-metal body parts.
Connect to a heavy gauge metal part of the frame or engine block.
For a positive-grounded vehicle, connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip from the jump 7.
starter to the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) ungrounded post of the battery. Connect the
POSITIVE (RED) clip to the vehicle chassis or engine block away from the battery.
Do not connect the clip to the carburetor, fuel lines or sheet-metal body parts.
Connect to a heavy gauge metal part of the frame or engine block.
RISK OF EXPLOSION.
If you have connected the clips backward, an audio alarm will sound. DO
NOT turn the ON/OFF switch to the ON position. This could cause serious
damage to the Instant Power™ or the vehicle. Reverse the connections and
the audio alarm will stop.
Turn ON the Jump Start ON/OFF switch8. . Crank the engine. If the engine
does not start within 5-8 seconds, stop cranking and wait at least 1 minute before
attempting to start the vehicle again. (This permits the battery to cool down.)
After the engine starts, make sure to turn OFF the Jump Start switch.9.
Then, disconnect the black clip (-) and then the red clip (+), in that order.
Recharge the Instant Power™ as soon as possible after use.10.
RISK OF EXPLOSION.
To prevent sparking, NEVER allow the clips to touch together or to contact the
same piece of metal. Never attempt to jump start a frozen battery.
Powering a 12V DC Device:6.2
The Instant Power™ is a power source for all 12V DC accessories that are
equipped with a 12V accessory plug. Use it for power outages and shing or
camping trips.
Make sure the device to be powered is OFF before inserting the 12V DC accessory plug
into the 12V DC accessory outlet.
Ensure the battery clips are securely clipped on the storage holders.1.
Open the protective cover of the DC power outlet on the right side of the2. Instant Power™.
Plug the 12V DC device into the DC power outlet, and turn on the 12V DC device3.
(if required).

If the 12V DC device draws more than 15A or has a short circuit, the internal4. circuit breaker of the Instant Power™ will trip and disconnect the power to the
device. Disconnect the 12V DC device. The breaker will automatically reset after
an overload occurs.
The DC power outlet is wired directly to the internal battery. Extended operation of a 12V
DC device may result in excessive battery drain. Recharge immediately after unplugging
the 12V DC device.
Using the USB Port6.3
The USB port provides up to 500mA at 5V DC.
Ensure the battery clips are securely clipped on the storage holders.1.
Turn the Instant Power™ On/Off switch to the ON (clockwise)2. position.
Plug the device into the USB port3. on the front panel.
Turn the USB device on.4.
Reverse these steps when nished using the USB port.5.
Charge the Instant Power™ as soon as possible after using the USB port.6.
Using the Air Compressor6.4
RISK OF EXPLOSION.
Read the instructions of the product being inated before using the compressor.
Avoid overination, do not exceed the manufacturer’s recommended pressures.
Do not leave the air compressor unattended during use.
Ensure the battery clips are securely on the storage holders.1.
Remove the air compressor hose from the storage cleats on the back of the2.
Instant Power™. Install adapters as necessary.
Attach the air compressor hose to the product or accessory to be inated by ipping 3. down the lever.
Toggle the Compressor Switch up to the ON position and inate the product.4.
When the product is inated to the proper air pressure (using the air compressor 5. gauge), toggle the Compressor Switch down to the OFF position and remove the hose.
Do not run for more than 10 minutes maximum at a time. Allow the Instant Power™6. to cool down for 10 minutes before using again.
NOTE: To prevent overheating, the compressor has built-in thermal protection that
will turn the compressor off before it overheats. If the compressor shuts off, wait a few
minutes and it will automatically restart when the compressor cools.
NOTE: The air compressor is rated for 150 PSI.
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS7.
After use and before performing maintenance, unplug and disconnect the Instant7.1
Power™ (see sections 3 and 4).
Use a dry cloth to wipe all battery corrosion and other dirt or oil from the battery clips,7.2 cords, and the Instant Power™ case.
Ensure that all of the Instant Power™ components are in place and in good7.3 working condition.
Servicing does not require opening the unit, as there are no user-serviceable parts.7.4
All other servicing should be performed by qualied service personnel.7.5
MOVING AND STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS8.
Store the Instant Power™ in an upright position.8.1
Store inside, in a cool, dry place.8.2
Do not store the clips on the handle, clipped together, on or around metal, or clipped8.3 to cables. The clips on the Instant Power™ are live and will produce arcing or sparking
if they come in contact with each other. To prevent accidental arcing, always keep the
clips on the storage holders when not using it to jump start a vehicle.
If the Instant Power™ is moved around the shop or transported to another location, take8.4
care to avoid/prevent damage to the cords, clips and Instant Power™. Failure to do so
could result in personal injury or property damage.

Do not use and/or store the Instant Power™ in or on any area or
surface where damage could occur if the internal battery should
unexpectedly leak acid.
IMPORTANT:8.5
CHARGE IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE•
KEEP FULLY CHARGED•
Charge the Instant Power™ internal battery immediately after purchase, after every
use and every 30 days.
All batteries are affected by temperature. The ideal storage temperature is at 70° F. The
internal battery will gradually self-discharge (lose power) over time, especially in warm
environments. Leaving the battery in a discharged state may result in permanent battery
damage. To ensure satisfactory performance and avoid permanent damage, charge the
internal battery every month.
TROUBLESHOOTING9.
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE REASON/SOLUTION
The Instant Power™ won’t

The Instant Power™ battery is

Disconnect the Instant Power™
and reverse the clips.

Have the battery checked.
Turn the Instant Power™ ON/
OFF switch to the ON position.
The Instant Power™ won’t
power my 12V device. The 12V device is not turned on.
The Instant Power™ battery is
not charged.
The 12V device draws more
than 15A or has a short circuit.
Turn on the 12V device.
Check the battery charge
status by pressing the button
on the front of the Instant
Power™. See LED Indicators
section of this manual.
Disconnect the 12V device.
The internal breaker will
automatically reset after a
minute or two. Try the 12V
device again. If it happens
again, replace the 12V device.
The battery in the Instant
Power™ won’t hold a charge. The battery is bad (will not accept a charge). Have the battery checked.

ORIGINAL RETAIL PURCHASER OF THIS PRODUCT. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY
IS NOT TRANSFERABLE OR ASSIGNABLE.
Schumacher Electric Corporation (the “Manufacturer”) warrants this Instant Power™
for one year and the internal battery for ninety days from the date of purchase at retail
against defective material or workmanship that may occur under normal use and care.
If your unit is not free from defective material or workmanship, Manufacturer’s obligation
under this warranty is solely to repair or replace your product, with a new or reconditioned
unit, at the option of the Manufacturer. It is the obligation of the purchaser to forward the
unit, along with proof of purchase and mailing charges prepaid to the Manufacturer or its
authorized representatives in order for repair or replacement to occur.
Manufacturer does not provide any warranty for any accessories used with this product
that are not manufactured by Schumacher Electric Corporation and approved for use
with this product. This Limited Warranty is void if the product is misused, subjected to
careless handling, repaired, or modied by anyone other than Manufacturer or if this unit
is resold through an unauthorized retailer.
Manufacturer makes no other warranties, including, but not limited to, express,
implied or statutory warranties, including without limitation, any implied warranty
of merchantability or implied warranty of tness for a particular purpose. Further,

chispas o llamas en la proximidad de una batería o motor.
No utilice elementos personales de metal tales como anillos, pulseras, collares y relojes2.2 al trabajar con una batería de plomo-ácido. Una batería de plomo-ácido puede producir
una corriente de cortocircuito lo sucientemente elevada como para soldar un anillo o
provocar efectos similares sobre el metal, causando una quemadura de gravedad.
Tenga especial cuidado para reducir el riesgo de dejar caer una herramienta de metal2.3 sobre la batería. Esto podría provocar chispas o un cortocircuito en la batería o en
cualquier otra pieza eléctrica que podría provocar una explosión.
No deje que la batería interna se congele. Nunca cargue una batería congelada.2.4

Utilice protección visual y corporal completa, incluyendo gafas de seguridad y prendas2.8 de protección. Evite tocar sus ojos mientras trabaje en forma cercana a la batería.
Si el ácido de la batería tiene contacto con su piel o su ropa, lave de inmediato el área2.9 afectada con agua y jabón. En caso de que ingrese ácido en un ojo, sumerja el mismo
de inmediato bajo agua potable corriente por al menos 10 minutos y obtenga atención
médica en forma inmediata.
Si el ácido de la batería es accidentalmente ingerido, se recomienda beber leche, clara2.10 de huevo o agua. NO provoque vómito. Busque ayuda médica de inmediato.
PREPARACIÓN PARA EL USO DEL INSTANT POWER™3.

Power™. Durante la limpieza, evite que la corrosión producida por aire tenga contacto con
sus ojos, nariz y boca. Utilice bicarbonato de sodio y agua para neutralizar el ácido de la
batería y ayudar a eliminar la corrosión producida por aire. No toque ojos, nariz o boca.
Agregue agua destilada a cada pila hasta que el ácido de la batería alcance el3.3
nivel especicado por el fabricante de la batería. No provoque derrames. En lo que
concierne a baterías que no cuentan con tapas extraíbles para pilas, tales como

Indicadores LED5.1
Para comprobar el estado de la batería interna, pulse el botón Estado de la batería en la
parte delantera del Instant Power™.
Las luces LED indica el nivel de carga de la siguiente manera:
Un LED rojo• indica un 50% o menos de carga, e inmediatamente deberá
recargar el Instant Power™.
Un LED amarillo• indica que la carga del 50% a 75. El Instant Power™ se puede
utilizar, pero debe ser recargada tan pronto como sea posible.
Un LED verde• indica que la batería interna está totalmente cargada.
NOTA: La batería interna por ciento de carga es más precisa cuando el Instant Power™
se ha desconectado de todos los dispositivos y las fuentes de carga durante unas horas.

Para cargar, conectar un calibre 18 (AWG) [0,82 mm1. 2] o mayor cable de extensión

El LED CARGANDO (3. ROJO) se encenderá, indicando la carga.
El LED CARGADO (4. VERDE) se enciende cuando la batería ha alcanzado la
carga completa. Esto podría tomar hasta 72 horas, debido a la edad y el estado
de la batería. El cargador se pondrá automáticamente en modo de mantener y

El LED CARGANDO (ROJO) y CARGADO (VERDE), el LED no indican
el estado de carga durante este método de cobro. El uso de este método para cargar la
batería anula el modo de mantener y que la batería puede ser cobrado. Monitorear el
progreso de la batería, y cuando llega a un total (100%) de carga, desconecte el
cargador. No se cobra por más de cuatro horas y no dejar desatendida la batería, o
podría explotar y causar daños a la propiedad o lesiones personales.

No utilice el Instant Power™ mientras carga la batería interna.
Apague el vehículo antes de hacer conexiones de cables.1.
Ubique los cables de C.A. y C.C. para reducir el riesgo de daños a la cubierta, a la2. puerta y a las piezas móviles o calientes del motor. NOTA: Si es necesario cerrar el
cofre durante el proceso de arrancar el motor, asegúrese que el cofre no toque parte
metálica de la batería o pele los cables.
Manténgase alejado de las paletas del ventilador, correas, poleas y otras piezas que3. podrían provocar lesiones.
Verique la polaridad de los bornes de la batería. El borne POSITIVO (POS, P, +) de 4.
la batería generalmente posee un diámetro mayor al borne NEGATIVO (NEG, N, -).
Determine qué borne de la batería hace descarga a tierra (se encuentra conectado) 5.
con el chasis. Si el borne negativo hace descarga a tierra con el chasis (como en la
mayor parte de los vehículos), ver el paso 6. Si el borne positivo hace descarga a
tierra con el chasis, ver el paso 7.
En un vehículo con descarga a tierra por borne negativo, conecte el gancho6.
POSITIVO (ROJO) del Instant Power™ al borne POSITIVO (POS, P, +) sin descarga
a tierra de la batería. Conecte el gancho NEGATIVO (NEGRO) al chasis del vehículo
o al bloque motor alejado de la batería. No conecte el gancho al carburador, líneas
de combustible o cuerpos metálicos. Conecte a una pieza metálica de calibre grueso
del marco o del bloque motor.
En un vehículo con descarga a tierra por borne positivo, conecte el gancho7.
NEGATIVO (NEGRO) del Instant Power™ al borne NEGATIVO (NEG, N, -) sin
descarga a tierra de la batería. Conecte el gancho POSITIVO (ROJO) al chasis del
vehículo o al bloque motor alejado de la batería. No conecte al carburador, líneas de
combustible o cuerpos metálicos. Conecte a una pieza metálica de calibre grueso
del marco o del bloque motor.
RIESGO DE EXPLOSIÓN.
Si ha conectado las pinzas al revés, escuchará un sonido de alarma. NO gire
el botón-interruptor a la posición de ENCENDIDO (ON) . Esto podría causar
serios daños al Instant Power™ o al vehículo. Conecte los cables a la inversa
y el zumbido dejará de sonar.
Gire el interruptor a ENCENDIDO, para operar la fuente de poder8. .
Arranque el motor. Si el motor no da marcha de entre los 5 y 8 segundos, detenga
el arranque y espere 1 minuto antes de intentar arrancarlo de nuevo. (Esto permitirá
a la batería que se recupere.)
Una vez que el motor haya arrancado, cerciórese de APAGAR al interruptorde la fuente9.
de poder. Después desconecte la pinza negra (-) y después la roja (+), en ese orden.
Cargue el Instant Power™ tan pronto sea posible, después de usarse.10.

Para hacer funcionar un aparato de 12V de CD:6.2
El Instant Power™ es una fuente de poder para cualquier accesorio de 12V de
corriente directa que estén equipados con enchufe de 12V. Utilícelo durante
apagones, pesca o días de campo.
Asegúrese que el aparato a conectarse se encuentre en la posición de APAGADO antes
de conectarlo a la fuente de poder de 12V de CD.
También asegúrese de que las pinzas queden sujetas en su lugar.1.
Abra la tapa protectora de entrada del aparato de CD en el en el lado derecho del2. Instant Power™
Conecte el aparato de 12V de CD en la salida de corriente de la fuente de poder y3.

Si el aparato de 12 V de CD absorbe más de 15 A o tiene un corto circuito, el4. interruptor de circuitos interno del Instant Power™ se reactivará e interrumpirá

interruptor se reactivará automáticamente después de que una sobrecarga ocurra.
El enchufe está conectado directamente a la batería interna. Una operación en exceso
del aparato de 12V de CD podría descargar la batería excesivamente. Recargue

El puerto USB provee poco más de 500 mA por 5V de CD.

RIESGO DE EXPLOSIÓN.
Antes de usar el compresor, lea las instrucciones del objeto a inar. Evite
sobre inar, no exceda la presión de aire recomendado por el fabricante.
Durante el uso, no desatienda el compresor.
Asegúrese que las pinzas estén jas en el compartimiento. 1.
Quite la manguera de los sujetadores del compresor de aire situada en la2.
parte de atrás el Instant Power™ instale adaptadores si es necesario.
Sujete la manguera del compresor al producto o aparato a ser inado, tirando la 3. palanca hacia abajo.
Accione la palanca del interruptor del compresor a la posición de encendido y4.
comience a inar el producto.
Una vez inado el producto en la presión de aire apropiada (usando el calibrador de 5. aire), accione la palanca del interruptor del compresor a la posición de apagado y
desprenda la manguera.
Realice intervalos de no más de 10 minutos a la vez. Permita que el Instant Power™6. se enfríe antes de usarla de nuevo.
NOTA: Para prevenir un sobrecalentamiento, el compresor tiene una protección termal
integrada internamente que apaga el compresor antes de sobrecargarse. En caso
de que el compresor se apague solo, espere unos minutos y él mismo reiniciará la
operación de nuevo después de enfriarse.
NOTA: El Compresor de aire esta diseñado para 150 PSI.

Almacene en el interior, en un lugar fresco y seco.8.2
No guarde los ganchos en asas, enganchados entre sí, en o cerca de metales o8.3 enganchados en cables. Los ganchos en el Instant Power™ están vivas y producen
arco o chisporroteo si hacen contacto entre sí. Para evitar arco accidental, siempre
mantenga los ganchos en los soportes de almacenaje y el conmutador JUMP START
ON/OFF en la posición OFF cuando el Instant Power™ no se está usando para
arranque inmediato de un vehículo.
Si el Instant Power™ se mueve alrededor del taller o se transporta a otra localidad,8.4
trate de evitar/prevenir daño a los cables,pinzas y al Instant Power™. El ignorar estas
recomendaciones, podría llegar a causarle daños personales o de inmueble.
No use ni/o almacene la unidad de poder, bajo ninguna circustancia,
en áreas donde puede causar daño alguno en caso de que la batería
derrame ácido.
IMPORTANTE:
CARGUE INMEDIATAMENTE DESPUÉS DE CADA USO•
MANTENGA LA UNIDAD COMPLETAMENTE CARGADA•
Cargue el Instant Power™ inmediatamente después de comprarla, después de cada
uso y cada 30 días.
La temperatura afecta a todas las baterías. La temperatura ideal de almacenaje es a los
70° F. La batería interna se va descargando (pierde potencia) con el pasar del tiempo,
especialmente en los ambientes cálidos. Si se deja la batería en estado de descarga,
