
ThankyouforpurchasingtheSEM9GPSbodywornHDcamerasystem.Thismanualincludes
detailedinstructionsonhowtoselectandusethemanyfeaturesthatareincludedwiththeM9.

2.Overview

TheSEM9GPSBodyWornCameraSystemincludesmanyfeaturesthatareessentialtothelaw
enforcementandsecurityindustries,suchas30secondeventpre‐recordingandlowlightInfrared
illumination.Ithasbeendesignedtoassistwithaccuraterecollectionofevents,collectionof
evidenceandprotectionagainstfalselitigationclaims.





3.GettingStarted

Recharging
ThecameracanbechargedbyeitherusingthesuppliedUSBcabletoconnectthedevicedirectlyto
anactiveUSBoutletorpluggingthecameraintoanactivedockingstation.Torapidlychargethe
camera(4hourfastcharge),turnthecameraoffpriortostartingtherecharge.Tochargethecamera
normally,leavethecameraswitchedonwhilerecharging‐thiswilltakelonger.Pleaseensurethat
thebatteryisfullychargedbeforefirstuse.

SwitchingtheCameraONandOFF
PressandholdthePowerButtonuntiltheunitvibratesand'Welcome'isdisplayedonthescreen.
ReleasethePowerButtonandthegreenLEDwillturnonduringthepowerupprocess.Thecamera
willthenbeginrecordingautomaticallyanddisplayaredflashingLED.PresstheVideoButtontostop
therecording.

Toswitchoffthecamera,pressandholdthePowerButtonuntiltheunitvibratesanddisplays
'Goodbye'ontheLCDscreen.Theautomaticrecordonpowerupfeatureispre‐setanddesignedto
assisttheuserduringstressfulsituations.

StandbyMode
Whenthecameraisswitchedonandleftidle,itwillbegintotimeoutaccordingtothescreensaver's
timesetting(ifenabled).Onceithastimedout,thescreenwillswitchoffandenterstandbymode.
Thecameracanbebroughtoutofstandbymodebypressinganybuttononce.Toenterstandby
modemanually,pressandreleasethePowerButton.




4.RecordingandPlayback

RecordingAudio
NormalAudioRecording
Whilethecameraisswitchedon,pressandreleasetheAudioButtononce.Thecamerawillvibrate,
displayaflashingamberLEDanddisplayamicrophoneimagewiththecurrentdurationoftheaudio
recording.Tostoptherecording,presstheAudioButtononce.
OneKeyAudioRecording
Whilethecameraisswitchedoff,pressandholdtheAudioButtonuntiltheunitvibratesand'Audio
Recording'isdisplayedontheLCDscreen.Amicrophoneimagewillbedisplayedwiththecurrent
durationoftheaudiorecording.Tostoptherecording,presstheAudioButton.Thecamerawill
remainswitchedonafterthisprocess.

TakingPhotographs
Whilethecameraisswitchedon,pressandreleasethePhotographButton.Theimagewillbe
automaticallysavedtothecamera.

RecordingVideo
NormalVideoRecording
Whilethecameraisswitchedon,pressandreleasetheVideoButtontostartrecording.Whenthe
recordingstarts,aredLEDwillbegintoflash,thevideocameraiconwillbedisplayedonthescreen
andthecurrentvideorecordingdurationwillbedisplayed.Toendthevideorecording,pressthe
VideoButtononce.

OneKeyVideoRecording
Whilethecameraisswitchedoff,pressandholdtheVideoButtonuntiltheunitvibratesand'Video
Recording'isdisplayedontheLCDscreen.AredLEDwillbedisplayedandbegintoflash,thevideo
cameraiconwillbedisplayedonthescreenandthecurrentvideorecordingdurationwillbe
displayed.Toendthevideorecording,presstheVideoButtononce.Thecamerawillremain
switchedonafterthisprocess.

TakingaPhotowhilerecordingvideo
Whenavideoisrecording,pressthePhotographButtontotakeaphotograph.Thiswilltakeastill
photographwithoutinterruptingyourvideooraudiorecording.

Playback
Toviewyourrecordedmedia,presstheOKButtontodisplaytheplaybackmenu.Pressthe
Play/PauseButtonandtheMenuButtontohighlighteachmenuitemandtheOKButtontoselectit.
Whenyouhavefinishedbrowsingyourmedia,pressthe[power]buttontonavigatebackthrough
themenus.

OneKeyPlayback
Youcanplaybackthemostrecentlyrecordedfile(audio,videoorimage)bypressingthePlay/Pause
Button.Toreturntothehomescreen,pressthePowerButtontonavigatebackthroughthemenus.










DigitalZoom
Toadjustthedigitalzoom,firstlyensurethattheunitisswitchedon.Tozoomin,pressandholdthe
Play/PauseButtonuntilthezoomfeatureisactivatedthenreleasethebuttonwhentherequired
limitisreached.Tozoomout,pressandholdtheMenuButtonuntilthezoonfeatureisactivated
thenreleasethebuttonwhentherequiredlimitisreached.

InfraredLED
TheinfraredLEDcanbeusedinlowlightconditionswherethecamerawillnotnormallyreceivean
image.Whilethecameraisrecordingvideo,presstheLightButtononcetoturntheinfraredLEDson.
TherecordedvideoandtheimageontheLCDscreenwillbedisplayedinblackandwhite.Toturn
theInfraredLEDsoff,presstheLightButton.

WhiteLED(Flashlight&Strobe)
ThewhiteLEDmaybeusedinlowlightconditionsatcloseproximitytoilluminateanarea.To
activatetheWhiteLEDlight,pressandholdthelightbuttonuntilthewhiteLEDisturnedon.Toturn
thewhiteLEDoff,pressandholdtheLightButtonuntilthewhiteLEDisswitchedoff.Bypressing
andholdingthePhotographButton,thefrontwhiteLEDwillflash/strobeandmaybeusedfor
locationatnight.

AuxiliaryLocationLight(RedLaser)
TheAuxiliaryLocationLightcanbeusedtodirectattentiontoaspecificlocation.Thelasermaynot
bevisibleonrecordingsiftheambientlightistoohigh.Toactivatetheredlaser,ensuretheunitis
switchedon,thenpressandholdtheOKButtonuntiltheLaserison.Tode‐activatethelaser,press
andholdtheOKButtonuntilthelaserturnsoff.WARNING–Donotshineanylaserintotheeyesas
itmaycauseinjury.

ResettingtheCamera
Intheunlikelyeventwherethecamera'hangs'(camerasdisplayisunresponsivetoanyinput),press
theresetbuttonusinganopenpapercliporasimilaritemtorebootthecamera.Theresetbutton
canbelocatedbesidetheHDMIport.Thisisdesignedtohavenoeffectonthedatastoredonthe
camera.

GPS(iffitted)
IffittedwithGPSyourcamerahastheabilitytorecordGPScoordinatesonthevideofile.Thisdata
canbeusedinsuppliedsoftwaretoshowboththevideoimageandcameralocation/trackonamap,
withinasplitscreenviewingscreen.Pleasenote:Theunitwillonlyconnecttoglobalpositioning
satelliteswiththedirectviewofthesky(willnotconnectindoors).

CarDVMode
Enablesthecameratoautostartrecordingwhenpowerisreceivedthroughthedockingstation–
idealwhenthecameraismountedinavehicle.Thisfeaturecanbeturnedoffduringnormaluse.









