Installation Instructions for Panic and Emergency Actuator with
SBL395S/P Digital Mechanical Lock
Installation
Correctly position and tape the template (T/SED900/032) for Panic and Emergency Actuator, to
the internal door face, at the correct height from the floor level.
Mark the 2 pilot holes for securing the top of the Actuator Unit.
Mark the two 9mm holes for the support plate for securing the bottom of the Actuator Unit.
Mark the 19mm diameter hole for the spindle of the Digital Lock
Mark the two 8mm holes and counter sink the lower one by 10mm for bolt through fixings and
cup washers to secure the Digital Mechanical Lock.
Drill all marked holes.
Mark position of and install Mortice Night Latch as per the instructions in its box.
NOTE Correctly position the support plate inside the door locating the 2 extruding metal parts
in the two 9mm holes before inserting and securing Mortice Night Latch.
Setting the Code
On the reverse of the Digital Lock Unit you will see slotted buttons which
correspond to the push buttons on the front of the lock.
To set a button to operate within the code turn the slotted button relating to the
number so that the dot is facing outwards (towards the ‘G’)
To take a button out the code turn the slotted button so the dot is facing inward
(towards the ‘F’)
Check the code on the Lock functions before fitting the lock.
IMPORTANT: Always press the ‘C’ button before inputting the programmed code
Handing the Digital Keypad
For Left-handed use
Fixing the Lock
Select the appropriate spindle to suit lock follower and assemble as shown in Figure 1.
Feed the radius end of the spindle through the spindle collar and then insert the pin
through the hole in the spindle so it is secure within the collar.
Remove small back plate from the reverse side of Digital Lock, which is held in place by 3
fixing screws.
Locate spindle assembly collar into reverse of Digital Lock and re-secure small back plate
with the 3 fixing screws.
Cut the fixing bolts to suit door thickness, for the Digital Mechanical Lock, allowing at least 4/5
threads to secure the outside Digital Lock.

After removing the Grub Screw; lift
and rotate the lever handle 180
degrees anti-clockwise. Relocate
the grub screw and tighten to
secure lever handle
Locate the Grub Screw in the
Lever Handle unscrew and
remove it using the supplied
Allen Key.
For Right-handed use
Locate the Grub Screw in the
Lever Handle unscrew and
remove it using the supplied
Allen Key.
After removing the Grub Screw; lift
and rotate the lever handle 180
degrees clockwise. Relocate the
grub screw and tighten to secure
lever handle

Locate the rubber seal behind the Digital Lock and using the fixing bolts and cup washers secure
the top and bottom of the Digital Lock to the door.
Before final tightening ensure the lock is vertical and test mechanism to ensure that it is operating
freely.
Positioning of Spindle for Digital Lock
For Left handed applications the spindle should be fully rotated anti-clockwise
prior to locating it in the follower of the actuator unit.
For Right handed applications the spindle should be fully rotated clockwise
prior to locating it in the follower of the actuator unit.
Fixing Panic Actuator Unit
Position Actuator unit, correctly, on to the spindle on the digital lock, and secure the top of the
unit to the door using wood screws.
Secure the bottom of the unit to the support plate by using the smaller bolts
Mark positioning of and secure rest of Actuator Unit as per Instructions in the box.
Before final tightening test mechanism to ensure that it is working correctly and moving freely.
Prepare and install the rest of Actuator Unit as per instructions supplied in the box.
Passage Function
This allows Free Entry Mode; the outside lever will retract the latch bolt
without the use of the Code.
To enable the feature follow the steps below:
Enter the correct code
Press the handle down to 25-75⁰and push the “F” button
Return the handle to the horizontal position and release the “F”
button
To cancel Free Entry Mode:
Press the “C” button and press the handle down to 25-75⁰
Return the handle to the horizontal position and release the “C”
button
For Left handed
installation fully rotate
the follower, on the back
of the Actuator Unit,
clockwise.
For Right handed
installation fully rotate
the follower, on the back
of the Actuator Unit,
anticlockwise.
