Power cord

cord is connected to the rice cooker.
●The appliance is switched on as soon as
the plug is inserted into a wall socket.
●To switch the appliance off, remove the
plug from the wall socket.
Before using for the first time
Before the appliance is used for the first
time, remove the sticker from the rice
container, clean the appliance as described
in the section General care and cleaning and
fit the spoon holder to the appliance.
Measuring cup
The measuring cup (Cup) contains two
scales. One shows the content in millilitres
(ml), the other one in ‘cups’. The maximum
content of 180ml or 1 cup is reached if the
cup is completely full.
For the rice cooker, only the cup
measurement scale is used. However, the
metric ml scale may be useful when
measuring other food.
Temperature control
The appliance uses an integral temperature
control. Once the water has completely
evaporated during the cooking process, the
unit automatically switches to the keep-
warm function.
Selector switch
The selector switch can be used to switch
between the cooking and keep-warm
functions.
The switch cannot be operated unless the
rice container is correctly fitted inside the
housing.
Operation
Cooking rice
-
Place the rice container inside the
appliance.
-
Use the cup to measure the desired
quantity of rice (between 3 und 10 cups)
into the rice container.
-
Add water to the rice until the
appropriate marking on the cup-scale
inside the rice container is reached. For
example: when cooking 4 cups of rice, the
water level should reach the
corresponding fourth mark on the cup-
scale inside the rice container.
-
Add salt as desired.
-
Close the lid.
-
Connect the power cord to the rice
cooker first, and then insert the plug into
the wall socket.
-
Press the switch down. The cooking
process begins as indicated by the red
cooking indicator light.
-
Once the water has completely
evaporated during the cooking process,
the unit automatically switches to the
keep-warm function. The red cooking
indicator light goes out and is replaced by
the yellow keep-warm indicator light.
-
The rice should then be left to stand for
further 5 minutes before being removed
from the container.
-
Switch off the appliance by removing the
plug from the wall socket.
-
Use the lid release to open the lid.
Beware of escaping steam: there is a
danger of scalding.
Useful hints regarding rice
-
Always check the packaging for
information on whether the rice needs to
be washed before cooking.
-
Should you prefer softer rice, check the
6

packaging for specific information about
steamed rice, or pre-soak the rice in
water for approximately 15 minutes
before cooking.
-
This rice cooker is not suitable for
preparing rice pudding or creamed rice,
as the milk will burn.
Steaming
Vegetables can be steamed using the
steaming insert. Steaming has the advantage
that the nutritional value is conserved to a
higher degree than during normal cooking of
vegetables.
-
Put 1 cup (Cup) of water into the rice
container.
-
Put the prepared vegetables into the
steaming insert and place it into the rice
container.
-
Close the lid.
-
Connect the power cord to the rice
cooker first before inserting the plug into
the wall socket.
-
The cooking process begins once the
switch is pressed down.
-
The time required for steaming largely
depends on the type of vegetable used.
While cauliflower and carrots require a
steaming time of approx. 15 minutes,
zucchini only need 10 minutes.
-
In order to prevent the steam from
escaping during the steaming process, the
lid should be kept closed; but if any
steam escapes anyway, e.g. after opening
the lid, additional water may be added.
-
Once the desired steaming time has been
reached, push the switch upwards and
remove the plug from the wall socket.
-
Use the lid release to open the lid.
Beware of escaping steam: there is a
danger of scalding. Use an oven cloth to
remove the steaming insert carefully
from the rice container.
-
Any remaining water in the rice
container may be poured out once the
appliance has sufficiently cooled down.
Collection container
The container collects condensation from
the inside of the lid. When cleaning the
appliance, this container must be emptied.
To empty the container, gently squeeze the
upper part together and pull it off at a
downward angle.
To replace the collection container, guide it
into the receptacle opening and push the
lower part gently into place.
General care and cleaning
●Before cleaning, remove the plug from
the wall socket and wait until the
appliance has completely cooled down.
●To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not
clean the appliance with water and do
not immerse it in water.
●Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning
solutions.
●The appliance should be cleaned only
with a damp, lint-free cloth.
-
The rice container, steaming insert and
the spoon can be cleaned with hot water
or in a dish-washer.
-
Empty the collection container.
-
The outside of the lid can be cleaned with
a damp, lint-free cloth. The inside of the
lid is cleaned as follows:
pull off the metal cover located at the
inside of the lid, and clean it with hot
water. Ensure that the metal cover and
the lid are completely dry before they are
put together again.
