can can be operated on the PA and FF field buses:

Active field distributor AFD4, AFD4 (FM) and AFD8
Active field distributor AFD4 / AFD4 (FM) / AFD8
Field devices such as measuring instruments, sensors and actuators can be connected to
the active field distributors AFD4 / AFD4 (FM) / AFD8.
In conjunction with 2 FDC 157 couplers, the field distributors AFD4 / AFD4 (FM) / AFD8
enable operation of a
ring redundancy
. You can use the following field distributors in a
segment:
●Up to 8 field distributors when using AFD4 / AFD4 (FM) / AFD8 only
●Up to 5 field distributors with mixed use of at least one AFDiS and other AFD4 / AFD4
(FM) / AFD8 field distributors
The total number of field devices in a segment is 31 devices and it is limited by a maximum
of 60 mA per spur line.

●Connection of field devices for a field bus in line or ring topology
●Automatic bus termination
●Automatic isolation of faulty segments
●Automatic connection of isolated segments after fault rectification
●Extending a segment during operation
●Short-circuit-proof spur lines

Active field splitter (AFS)
The AFS field distributor connects 2 FDC 157 couplers to a field bus segment. It enables
operation of
coupler redundancy
on the line this way.
The total number of field devices on the line is 31 devices limited by a maximum current of 1
A.
Functions
If a fault occurs, the main line automatically switches to the redundant FDC 157 coupler.

Despite the IP30 covers, the requirements for Zone 2 are not met because the AFS is
always connected directly to the FDC 157 coupler.
