Warning notice system

3Before starting
Electromagnetic compatibility
The product is intended for operation in an industrial environment (EMC Class A).
Ensure that the setup of your automation system complies with EMC requirements as described in the Documentation
(https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/in/en/ps/29688/man) for the product.
Electrical safety
For the power supply, the following applies additionally:
WARNING
Connection of the power supply
Only qualified personnel are permitted to connect the power supply. Pay special attention to information in the
Documentation (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/in/en/ps/29688/man) and on the nameplate of the device.
Note
The power supply must be connected by the operator/user in accordance with the national regulations regarding installation.
The following applies to all modules:
WARNING
Danger from voltage/current!
Only perform assembly and disassembly work when the device is de-energized.
Set up products with IP54 degree of protection according to IEC 60529 only in enclosures, cabinets or electrical equipment
rooms suitable for the end application.
WARNING
Safety functional extra low voltage
The product must be supplied with functional extra-low voltage (SELV, PELV).
For LV modules, the following applies additionally:
WARNING
Risk of death or serious injury due to electric shock!
Disconnect the system and module before beginning work.
For externally-supplied applications, the following applies additionally:

Externally-supplied applications
Note the following when working with an external supply:
•The externally-supplied circuits must also be isolated from the cabinet power supply.
•Externally-supplied circuits should be identified by coloring or marking them accordingly.

For ISOL modules, the following applies additionally:
WARNING
Danger from voltage/current!
The permitted electric potential difference allows an externally supplied voltage to be present at the inputs/outputs even in
switched-off state.
Safety in hazardous areas
If the device is intended for use in hazardous areas (gas-air or gas-dust mixture), note the specific details in the
Documentation (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/in/en/ps/29688/man).
You can recognize that the device is intended for use in hazardous areas from the Ex marking in the EC Declaration of
Conformity, in the associated certificate or on the nameplate.
Note
As a rule, country
-specific requirements for the operator also apply when a product is used in a potentially explosive
atmosphere (e.g. Directive 1999/92/EC for the EU).
Laser
The BusAdapter connects the IO device to the IO controller (CPU) via PROFINET IO. The BusAdapter selected for PROFINET IO
determines the cable types used to connect the interface module to the fieldbus.
CAUTION
BusAdapter contains a laser system and is classified as a "CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT" according to IEC 60825-1

4Transport and storage
Note
Ensure that the permissible transport and storage conditions are observed. Improper storage may affect the service life of the
products. These can be found in the technical specifications for the respective products.
WARNING
Mechanical hazard
Tipping or falling of the housing/control cabinet may result in serious injury or death.
•Only qualified personnel are permitted to participate in transporting the control cabinet.
•Properly secure the control cabinet before every transport.
•Do not attempt to hold or secure the control cabinet yourself during transport.
•Always maintain a safe distance from the control cabinet while it is being transported.
•Never stand under suspended loads.
•Never pass in front of a moving load.

5Installation and commissioning
WARNING
Mechanical hazard
Before beginning the installation in the control cabinet:
•Always ensure that the control cabinet is securely fixed to the ground.
DANGER
High voltage
Observe the 5 rules of electrical safety:
•Disconnect system
•Secure against reconnection
•Verify that system is de-energized.
•Ground and short circuit the system
•Cover or block off neighboring live parts
WARNING
Death or severe bodily injury
Modules of this product are considered open equipment. This means that you may only set up the product in enclosures,
cabinets or in electrical service areas, and these may only be accessible via keys or a tool. Access to enclosures, cabinets, or
electrical service areas shall be restricted to instructed or approved personnel.
Distances
Mounting and heat dissipation
•Ensure that enough space is kept free for installation and heat dissipation of the modules.
•Adhere to the recommended maximum spacing between 2 fastening points on the mounting rail of 500 mm.
•You must ensure that the following minimum clearances are maintained in the control cabinet when installing the
mounting rail.
–Clearance at top: 40 mm
–Clearance at bottom: 20 mm
–Clearance on left: 10 mm
–Clearance on right: 10 mm
