General Description
The DODA Pump is one of the most efficient, economic and highest performing pumping systems
available on the market. The pump is attached to the 3 point linkage of a tractor and the pump is
powered using the tractors P.T.O. The tractors hydraulics are then used to operate the hydraulic
cylinders on the pump.

Intended Use
Doda HD35 pumps are designed SOLELY for use in customary agricultural
applications i.e ‘intended use’. If this machine is used in any other way, it is
considered as contrary to the intended use. Therefore, the manufacturer accepts no
liability for damage or injury resulting from this misuse, and these risks must be
borne solely with the user. Compliance and strict adherence to the conditions of
operation, service and repair as specified by the manufacturer also constitute
essential elements for the intended use.
Any person using this machine should read this manual carefully and strictly abide
by the legislation in terms of:
• Accident prevention
• Work safety
• Road safety
The user has to strictly respect all the warning signs affixed to the machine. Any
modifications done to the machine without prior written agreement of the
manufacturer, releases the manufacturer from responsibility for any damage which
might occur from this.

General Safety Regulations
Make sure all regulations concerning Work Safety and Highway Code are
respected, before you begin to use this equipment.
• Apart from the regulations specified in this manual, you should also abide by the
safety regulations and accident prevention legislations.
• Carefully read all instructions and safety messages in this manual and on your
machine.
• Abide by the Highway Code when on open roads. Use headlights, flashing warning
lights and turn signals day and night.
• Before using the machine the user should familiarise himself to the operating
systems of the machine and the respective functions.
• Do not wear any loose garments, which might get caught in the rotary parts of the
machine.
• Tie long hair behind you head and do not wear any neckties, scarves or necklaces
when operating machine or moving parts.
• The tractor should be fitted with a cabin or roll-over bar conforming to the
regulations in force.
• Before you start the machine, make sure that there is nothing in the immediate
vicinity and that the visibility is good. Keep all persons or animals out of the
machine’s danger zones.
• Carrying persons or animals on the machine during operating is strictly prohibited.
• When hitching or un-hitching the machine, make sure the feet are in the prescribed
position as indicated in the manual.
• Pay particular attention when hitching or un-hitching the machine from the tractor.
• Make sure that the tractor’s front axle ballast is sufficient before hitching the
machine to the tractor.
• Never exceed the maximum authorised axle load, from a technical and legal point
of view. Never exceed the total authorised laden weight during transport or when in
operation.
• Abide by the maximum authorised dimensions and loading gauge when driving on
public roads.
• Make sure that all guards and signalling systems are in good working order before
driving onto public roads.
• Keep all curtains, shields and remote control elements in place in such a way as to
avoid any accident or damage.
• Place the machine in transport position as indicated by the manufacturer before
driving onto open roads.
• Never leave the driving seat while the engine is running.

• Speed and driving behaviour should be adapted to suit the type of terrain. Avoid
sudden changes of direction. Do not exceed the recommended speed limit by the
manufacture of the machine.
• Always operate the machine at rated speed, provide sufficient weight to stabilize
the tractor when operating on hilly land or other adverse conditions.
• Pay particular attention in bends and avoid sudden moves by paying particular
attention to the length, height and weight of the machine attached.
• Before using the machine, make sure that all safety elements are in place and in
good working order. Replace missing or damaged safety signs.
• Before using the machine, check that all screws and bolts are well tightened.
Tighten is necessary.
• Do not stand in the immediate vicinity of the machine.
• Never lubricate service or adjust machine while moving, turn off engine, remove
key from ignition and wait for moving parts to have completely stopped.
•Do not stand between the tractor and the machine before putting on the hand brake.
• Before attempting any adjustments to the machine make sure it cannot be started
accidentally.
• Make sure the braking system is connected and working properly before moving
the machine.
• Do not support the machine on cinder blocks, hollow tiles or props that may
crumble under continuous load.
• Do not work under a machine that is supported solely by a jack; follow
recommended procedures in this manual.
• When implements or attachments are used with a machine, always follow safety
precautions listed in the operator’s manual.
Never Climb on the Machine
Special rules relating to Doda AFI Pumps
• Never touch or tamper with the pump whilst it is in operation other than for priming
purposes. (see Priming Instructions)
• Ensure pumps and pipes are fully depressurised before any couplings or valves are
opened.
• BEWARE – If the pump has been allowed to run without the movement of liquid
through it, there will be a build up of heat in any remaining liquid which will burn or
scald should valves be opened – always allow the pump and contents to cool
before attempting to open valves or couplings.
• Never allow pump castings to be pressurised by any air compressor equipment
used with slurry spreading systems – pump must be isolated with a suitable valve
before purging hoses with compressed air.

Machine Markings
At several important places of this machine safety signs are affixed intended to
signify potential danger. The hazard is identified by a yellow warning sticker. Pictures
of the warning symbols you will expect to see are placed below with a brief
description.
Warning High Temperature – The
surface of the pump will be hot to touch
and there will be a risk of getting burnt.
CE - Complies with regulations 'The supply of
Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008.
Warning Pump must not be run dry -
Serious damage may be caused if the
pump is not properly lubricated.

Instructions for use
Pre use checks
Checking the Doda HD35 Pump before attaching and using-
1. Before using a Doda HD35 Pump, the user should check for any areas
of wear e.g. hydraulic components, bearings and pivot points etc.
2. The main body of the machine should also be checked to ensure there
are no cracks on welds, etc.
3. The 3-point linkage needs to be checked thoroughly to ensure it is not
damaged.
4. The oil level in the gear box needs to be checked before operating.
5. If there are any areas of wear or damage the machine must not be
used and be repaired immediately by a competent trained Engineer.

Installing the P.T.O.
If the Nurse Tanker is fitted with a pump it must be attached to the tractor and the
drawbar needs to be in line with the tractor. The tractor’s PTO disengaged, the
engine turned off and the keys removed.
The tractor PTO shaft length may have to be altered to suit the individual tractor
model. When the machine is in operation, the PTO shaft should have a minimum 1/3
engagement (Fig 2.1).

If the PTO is too short and tends to slip out of place, it must be replaced with a
longer one. However, if the PTO shaft is too long, it should be shortened in the
following way:
1. Set the machine at a minimum distance from the tractor, then apply the hand
brake/ park brake on the tractor, switch off the engine and remove the keys.
2. Separate the two halves of the PTO. Insert the female part into the tractor
PTO and the male part into the Vacuum PTO, checking that the position is
correct by means of the fixing pins.
3. Line up the two halves of the PTO together, keeping them parallel.
4. Using a felt tip pen, match mark the place where the two halves must be
shortened at 150mm from either end (Fig 2.2).

5. First cut the shield (Fig 2.3) and use the off cut part as a reference to cut the
splined shaft (Fig 2.4).
6. Proceed in the same way for the second half.
7. Trim and chamfer the two cut ends of the PTO and clean off all swarf and
shavings (Fig 2.5).

Cleaning
8. Grease the two profiles and join the two halves of the PTO together.
9. Mount the PTO shaft and check that its length is correct as before.
The shaft must not reach the end of the tube or project from this.

Attaching and Detaching
1. Reverse the tractor up to the implement and stop at least 1m from it.
2. At this point engage the hand brake/ park brake, turn off the tractor and
remove the key.
3. Check all the 3-point linkage pins and balls are correctly in place and
secured.
4. Return to the tractor and proceed to reverse back in a safe and controlled
manor, ensuring to line the rear link arms of the tractor with the relevant
points on the 3-point linkage on the pump.
5. Once lined up the user may then raise the two rear linkage arms up, so that
the arms fully hold the balls.
6. The tractor should then be stopped, the hand brake/ park brake applied and
the key removed.
7. The operator can then exit the tractor to attach the top link and adjust it to a
relevant positon.
8. The P.T.O. can then be attached as well as any hydraulic pipes required.
9. The 4 stands can then be raised to the working position by moving the pin
from the bottom hole to the top hole on the stand.
10. The pump can be detached in the opposite manner to attaching.
When reeler is mounted to the tractor ensure feet are clear and not
underneath it.
Never stand between tractor and reeler while attaching/ detaching
implement.

Start up and operation
Before starting the pump check the gearbox for oil and if necessary fill with
recommended oil as per the manufacturers/supplier’s specification.
N.B. Pumps fitted with mechanical seals should not be run dry under any
circumstances. Dry running will invalidate warranty!
1. Move the Doda HD35 and attached tractor into position before coming to a
complete halt in a safe and controlled manner.
2. Stop the tractor and apply the hand brake/ park brake before removing the
key and exiting the tractor.
3. Proceed toward the pump and inspect the coupling before connecting the
suction and delivery hoses onto the appropriate connection on the pump.
4. Ensure that discharge non return valve/outlet control valve is closed.
5. Return to the tractor and start the engine.
6. Put pump drive shaft into drive (Running at fast idle speed)

7. Open valve (B) at the top of the pump (position 2).
8. Raise lever (C) to tension drive belt and then check sight tube for oil drip (E).
Adjust as necessary.
9. Wait for liquid to rise up within the suction tube.
10. Liquid should never pass into secondary tube.
11. Listen for engine sound change, as pump starts to operate.
12. Close priming valve (B) and release lever (C), pump should then operate.
13. Open outlet control valve SLOWLY (if fitted).
14. Check for build up of pressure in delivery hose, to ensure pump is operating
correctly.
15. Gradually increase PTO speed until operating pressure is achieved.
16. Adjust engine speed to suit operating conditions.

For Hand Priming System:-
• Same procedure as for automatic primer system.
• Prime the pump using the hand operated priming equipment.
• Remember to engage the pump.
Priming
1. Fill the cono pouring some liquid inside it (A)
2. Seal the cap hermetically
3. Start the pump by setting in action the P.T.O.
4. Put lever ‘B’ in position ‘2’
5. Put lever ‘C’ in position ‘2’ and keep it until you’ll see first drops of liquid coming
along the hose connecting the cap with the tanker.
6. Bring respective lever ‘B’ and ‘C’ in position ‘1’
7. The pump is now primed
Important!
If the pump doesn’t prime after these operations you must check that all the connections
and the hoses are perfectly sealing. More over the rubber ‘D’ must stand in the indicated
position. Keep the ‘oiler’ ‘E’ open to have the best performances of the primer.

Stopping Pump
1. When stopping the pump it is important to reduce the risk of shock loading in
the discharge pipe work – “water hammer” can cause instantaneous pressure
well in excess of the actual operating system pressure, with the potential to
damage pump components and pipe work.
2. Slowly reduce the PTO speed to fast idle speed.
3. Disengage the PTO and allow the pump to stop.
4. Even when the pump has stopped there may be significant pressure retained
in the system – do not attempt to open any valves or couplings until this
residual pressure has been released.
5. If the pump has been allowed to run without the movement of liquid through it,
there will be a build up of heat in any remaining liquid which will burn or scald
should valves be opened.
6. Always allow pump and contents to cool before attempting to open valves or
couplings.
7. If the pump is to be left for any period of time drain all liquid from the pump,
and leave outlet valve open.
8. If slurry is left in the pump a build up of pressure can occur due to the
digestion of the residual slurry. Before attempting any work on a pump ensure
that there is no internal build up of pressure.
