The Remote Control Doesn't Work
Check the remote control after each step to see if it is working. If you need model-specific
information to complete any step, check your manual. Manuals are posted on your model support
page.
1. Make sure the device has the latest system software update installed (if applicable).
Downloads are posted on your model support page.
2. Make sure none of the buttons are jammed.
3. Reset the remote control.
1. Remove the batteries from the battery compartment for at least one minute.
2. Press each button on the remote control twice.
3. Use a soft cloth to clean the battery terminals inside the battery compartment.
4. Install new batteries, making sure that they are aligned with the positive (+) and
negative (-) marks inside the battery compartment.
Low or weak batteries can affect the remote control operation.
4. Verify that your remote control sends an infrared (IR) signal.
oFor Android TVs, the front light sensor will blink when the TV receives the IR
signal.
5. Make sure you use the remote control 3 - 10 feet away from the unit, and that you point it
at the remote sensor on the device.
oUsing the remote control too close, too far away, or at various angles may prevent
the IR signal from reaching the device.
oThe IR sensor can be located on the bottom middle, or right side of a TV screen.
oIf your device has an IR mark, the IR sensor is next to it.
6. Remove any objects that may block the IR signal between your remote control and your
device.
oGlass doors or enclosures can affect the signal from the remote. Open glass doors
to see if that makes a difference.
oMove indoor plants and devices that may cause interference.
oMake sure the IR sensor on the device isn't exposed to direct sunlight or bright
lights
Turn off any halogen or fluroscent lights in the room to see if they
are causing interference.
7. Make sure the device you want to control is plugged in and working.
oPress the Power button on the device (not the button on the remote) to turn it on.
8. Perform a power reset on the device that your remote is supposed to control.
oMost devices can be reset when you unplug the power cord for one minute.
oSeparate articles are available to restart an Android TV™ or to power reset other
TVs.
oYou can also check the device manual for specific instructions.
9. Some remote controls can be set for different functions. Make sure that you select the
correct function (TV, BD, DVD, AUX, STB, etc.).
10. Check and adjust the Command Mode setting on your device if your remote control
works with a CD or DVD player, receiver, etc.

oCommand Mode is used when multiple players are used with a single remote.
oOn some players, Command Mode is listed under Options in the Setup menu.
11. Turn off the Light Sensor setting, if applicable.
0. On the TV, not on the remote control, press the HOME button.
1. Using the up or down arrow select Preferences.
2. Press the INPUT button.
3. Press the up or down arrow to select ECO.
4. Press the INPUT button.
5. Use the up or down arrow to select Light Sensor.
6. Press the INPUT button.
7. Press the or down arrow to select OFF.
8. Press the INPUT button.
12. Restore your device to factory default settings.

No picture when I use an HDMI connection
Make sure your TV has the recent system software installed. Downloads are posted on your
model support page.
1. Check which input on the TV the source device is connected to.
2. On the supplied TV remote control, press the INPUT button repeatedly until it displays
the correct HDMI® input where the source device is connected.
3. Disconnect the HDMI cable and then reconnect it. A bad connection may occur
temporarily and cause this issue.
4. If you're using an audio system such as amplifier or theater stand) between the TV and
your video source, make sure that the input setting on the audio system corresponds to the
video output source.
5. Make sure the connected device is set to output through its HDMI connection and the
video format being output is compatible with the TV.
oThe output signal set on your source device may be indicated on its display or in
its menus.
oSome devices may output a 1080/24p or 1080/30p video signal, but some TVs can
only accept a 1080/60p video signal. Changing the video output format of the
connected device may resolve the issue. Check the manual or contact the
manufacturer for further information.
oThe A/V receiver may not up-convert a signal to HDMI if you connected an
analog connection type (Coaxial, Composite A/V, Component A/V, or S-Video)
on the output device and the audio system. Check the receiver manual for details
about other connection options.
6. If the device is connected to an A/V Receiver or other component before being connected
to the TV, try connecting directly to an HDMI input of the TV. If this works, your

receiver or other device may not be an HDMI repeater and might not pass the signal on to
the TV.
oAn HDMI repeater receives an audio/video signal from one HDMI device and
passes it through to another connected HDMI device. While your device is
supported for use with HDMI repeaters, products from other manufacturers may
not be supported.
7. Power reset the TV and the connected device.
8. Try connecting to a different HDMI port on the TV.
oIf the issue is resolved, try connecting back to the previous HDMI port and check
if picture is available.
If picture is still not available, proceed to step 11.
9. Try using a different HDMI cable.
oTo view 1080p (50p/60p) quality picture on the TV from an external device, make
sure to use a High-Speed HDMI cable with the HDMI logo.
10. If possible, try a different device that can output an HDMI video signal using the same
connections.
11. If there's still no picture, perform a factory reset.

Unable to play a Blu-ray Disc movie.
NOTE: Some Blu-ray Disc® players may display the error Cannot operate this disc or No
Disc Error.
Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if the Blu-ray Disc player cannot read or play a specific
disc.
1. Make sure the disc is playable.
oMake sure the inserted disc is compatible with the Blu-ray Disc player .
oCheck if the region code of the Blu-ray disc or DVD disc matches with the region
code of the Blu-ray Disc player or the DVD player.
NOTE: Check these articles below for additional information on the region codes
for:
Blu-ray disc
DVD disc
oTry playing a different disc, to confirm if the issue is with the disc.
NOTES:
When trying different disc, make sure it has similar specifications as the
first disc you have tried.

If you do not have a different disc, try using the same disc to another
player.
oMake sure you have properly finalized any recordings made on a different player
or recorder.
oFor a 3D Blu-ray Disc movie playback, make sure to use a Hi-speed HDMI®
cable.
2. Make sure the disc is in good working condition.
WARNING: There is a risk of hardware damage. Do not use cleaning discs or
disc/lens cleaners (including wet or spray types). These may cause the apparatus to
malfunction.
oIf the top of the disc tray is dirty, wipe it using a soft dry cloth before placing the
disc on the tray.
oIf there are any fingerprints, stains, or dust on the playing side of the disc, gently
wipe it with a soft dry cloth. Be careful in doing so not to scratch the disc.
oIf the disc is upside down, insert the disc with the playback side facing down.
3. Make sure the settings of the Blu-ray Disc player is correct.
oPower reset the Blu-ray Disc player.
1. Remove the disc from the Blu-ray Disc player.
2. Turn off the Blu-ray Disc player.
3. Unplug the power cord of the Blu-ray Disc player from the electrical
outlet.
4. Let the player remain without power for one minute.
5. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
6. Turn on the Blu-ray Disc player.
oMake sure that the Parental Control settings are not set to On.
NOTE: Parental control settings can prevent certain discs from being played.
oMake sure that BD ROM 24P Output setting is set to Off.

NOTE: If the BD ROM 24P Output setting is set to On and the TV does not
support this feature, you will see a blank screen on the TV.
oSet the Output Video Resolution setting of the Blu-ray Disc player to the
corresponding setting of the TV.
oWhen playing a Blu-ray Disc that supports BD-Live™ feature, check the
following:
An Internet connection is required. Check the network settings to see if the
Blu-ray Disc player is connected to the Internet.
Set the BD Internet Connection setting in the BD/DVD viewing Settings
menu to Allow.
If you cannot play the disc after setting the BD Internet Connection to
Allow, set the same setting to Do Not Allow, and delete any conflicting
BD-Live data from the BD/DVD Viewing Settings menu. Then, set the
BD Internet Connection setting back to Allow, and try to play the disc
again.
Certain Blu-ray Disc players may require that a USB memory device has
been properly inserted into the EXT slot of the player prior to playing the
movie. If the Blu-ray Disc player being used does not have an EXT input,
skip this step.
NOTE: The USB memory device may need to be re-formatted to FAT32
format or the existing files on the USB device must be deleted prior to
using it with the player. Refer to the support website for details on how to
format the USB to FAT32 file system.
oDownload and install the latest system software. This will ensure that the player is
up-to-date on playback compatibility.
NOTES:
If the player is connected to an active high-speed Internet connection, the
latest system software update can be obtained through the Network
section of the menu.
