When recording from aportable CD player,
setthe CD player to pause,andthen do the
recording procedureon the recorder.

Note thefollowing whenrecording from a
portableCD player:
-Some portable CD players may not be
capableof digital out when theAC power
adaptoris disconnected.If this is thecase,
connecttheAC power adaptorto the
portable CD player anduseit on AC power
asthepower source.
-On someportable CD players,optical
output may not bepossiblewhen using an
anti-skip function (e.g.,ESF or G-
PROTECTION). If this is thecase,turn off
the anti-skip function.

When thereis no soundfrom theplayer for
more than3 secondsduring synchro-
recording, the recordergoesinto thestandby
modeautomatically. When the soundcomes
frotn the player again,the recorderresumes
synchro-recording.If therecorderis kept in
thestandbymodefor 5 minutes or longer, the
recorder stopsautomatically.

For longer recording, follow step 1of “Long-
time recording (MDLP)” (page26) to select
therecording mode,andthen startthe
procedureof synchro-recording.

LINE IN (OPTICAL) jack is for both digital
andanaloginput. The recorder automatically
recognizesthe type of line cableandswitches
to digital or analoginput.
l
Therecording level is adjustedautomatically.
To adjustthelevel manually, see“Adjusting

Recording)” (page31).

You
canmonitor the soundduring recording.
Connecttheheadphones/earphonesto c! and
adjustthe volume by pressingVOL +/-. This
doesnot affect therecording level.
