Safety

Installing
o The TV should be installed near an easily

station logos or photos, displayed on your
TV can become permanently imprinted
onto the screen. This type of imprint is
known as "Image Retention." Please take

View avariety of program sources or
programming material. Changing the
program material viewed reduces the
possibility that asingle image will become
imprinted on the TV screen.
When using video games, set-top boxes. or
similar products with your TV. or when
viewing a TV station whose logo always
stays on the screen, select the appropriate
Picture sellings for the room brightness
and set Picture Mode to Standard (see
page

Picture sellings).
This TV was designed primarily for
viewing TV broadcasts in wide screen
mode (16:9 aspect ratio). Therefore, when
viewing conventional (4:3) TV programs,
select Wide Zoom or Full in the Wide
Mode.
To reduce the risk of image retention, turn

On Screen Display (OSD) by
pressing the
DISPLAY bUllon. and turn off
the menus of connected equipment (see
page 20 and 30).

Lightning storms
For added protection for this TV during a
lightning storm, or when it is left unattended
and unused for long periods of time, unplug
it from the wall outlet and disconnect the
antenna. This will prevent damage to the TV
due to lightning and power line surges.
Electric shock
Do not touch the AC power cord or the TV with a L. L.<

When not in use
If you will not be using the TV set for
several days, the TV set should be
disconnected from the AC power outlet
for environmental and safety reasons. The
TV set is not disconnected from the AC power source when the TV set is
switched off. To disconnect the TV setcompletely, pull the plug from the
AC power outlet. Store the TV set in acool place in order to avoid
damaging.

When connecting cables, be sure to unplug the AC power cord for your
safety.
Take care not to catch your feet on the cables. It may damage the TV set.
USE
AC power cord
Observe the following to prevent the AC power cord from being
damaged. If the AC power cord is damaged, it may result in afire or an
electric shock. Stop using it and ask your dealer or Sony service center to
exchange it.
DDo not place the TV where the powercord is subject to wear or abuse.
DDo not pinch, bend, or twist the cord excessively. The core lines may
be bared and cut, causing ashort-circuit, and resulting in atire or an
electric shock.
DDo not convert or damage the power cord.
DDo not allow anything to rest on or rollover the ~D
power cord.
DDo not move the TV with the power cord
plugged in.
DKeep the power cord away from heat sources.
DWhen you disconnect the AC power cord,

dust over time. To ensure proper ventilation, we
recommend removing the dust pcriodically (once amonth) using a

This TV contains astrong magnet in the speaker unit that generates a
magnetic field. Keep any items susceptible to magnetic tields away from
the speaker.

Antenna grounding according to the National
Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70
Be sure the antenna system is grounded so as to provide some protection
against voltage surges and built-up static charges.
Scction
810 of the National Electrical Code (NEC) in USA and Section
54
of the Canadian Electrical Code in Canada provides information with
respect to
proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure,
grounding
of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of
grounding conductors, location of antenna dischargc unit, connection to
grounding electrodes. and requirements for the
grounding electrode.
Outdoor antenna grounding
If an outdoor antenna is installed, follow the precautions below. An
outdoor antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead
power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can come
in contact with such power lines or circuits.
WHEN INSTALLING AN OUTDOOR ANTENNA SYSTEM,
EXTREME CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO KEEP FROM
CONTACTING SUCH POWER LINES OR CIRCUITS AS CONTACT
WITH THEM IS ALMOST INVARIABL YFATAL.
Do not allow
your skin to remain in contact with the TV or AC power
adapter for along period of timc. Otherwise, they may get hot and cause
aheat-rash or blister.

Unless proper ventilation is provided. the TV may gather dust and get
dirty. For proper ventilation. observe the following:

Upon completion of any service or repairs to the TV.
ask the service technician to perform routine safety
checks (as specified by the manufacturer) to determine
that the TV is in safe operating condition, and to so
certify. Ask aqualified service technician to dispose of the TV.
Safety check
SERVICING
Non-luminous pixels may appearon the screen. This is not amalfunction.
Although the OLED screen is made with high-precision technology, a
few non functioning pixels may be evident. Red. green and blue dots may
appear on the screen depending on the images displayed.
Black dots
Do not touch the broken glass with bare hands. As
with any broken glass pieces, avoid skin contact
and exposure to your eyes or mouth.
If the surface of the TV cracks, do not touch it until you have unplugged
the AC power cord.
Otherwise electric shock may result.
Replacement parts
When replacement parts are required, be sure the
service technician certifies in writing that he/she has
used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer
that have the same characteristics as the original parts.
Unauthorized substitutions may result in alire. an
electric shock or other hazards.
The screen and cabinet get warm when the TV is in use.
Take care when you carry or move the TV,
SCREEN AND CABINET
o The screen and cabinet get warm when the TV is in use. This is not a
malfunction.
oAvoid spraying insect repellent with volatile material on the screen.
oAvoid prolonged contact with rubber or plastic material.
oDo not expose the OLED screen surface to direct sunlight. as doing
so may damage it.
oDo not push or scratch the OLED screen. or place objects on top of
the TV. The image may become distorted. or the OLED panel may be
damaged.
Broken pieces
Do not throw anything at the TV.
The screen glass may break by the impact and
cause serious injury.
VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
oAdjust the volume so as not to trouble your neighbors. Sound carries
very easily at night. Therefore, closing the windows or using
headphones is suggested.
oWhen using headphones, adjust the volume so as to avoid excessive
levels, as heari ng damage may result.
Vehicle, ships and other vessels
Do not instaillhis TV in avehicle.
Do not place this TV in aplace where medical
eyuipment is in use.
It may cause amalfunction of medical equipment.
Attachments
Do not use attachments not recolllmended by the
manufacturer. as they may cause hazards.
oDo not install the TV where it may be
exposed to mechanical vibration.
oDo not install the TV in alocation where it may protrude, such as on
or behind apillar. or where you might bump your head on it.
Otherwise, it may result in injury.
o To prevent tire, keep flammable objects or open tlame (e.g. candles)
away from the TV.
Bumping of the vehicle may cause the TV to fall down
and cause injury,
Do not install this TV in aship or vessel. If the TV is
exposed to seawater. it may cause atire or damage the

Placement for viewing
It is recommended to watch the TV at adistance of 3 - 7 times that of the
screen height, and in moderate brightness. Watching the TV for too long
or in adark room may cause eye fatigue. To obtain aclear picture, do not
expose the screen to direct illumination or direct sunlight. If possible, use
spot lighting directed down from the ceiling.
oNever place the TV in hot, oily. humid or
excessively dusty places.
oDo not install the TV where insects may
enter.

What is OLEO?
An organic light-emitting diode (OLEO) display panel includes organic materials
that emit light when an electric current
is passed through them. The strength of
luminescence is controlled by the amount of electric current.

The self-emitting nature of the OLEO display panel allows for more efficient light
output, creating bright and vivid images.
High Contrast Ratio
In addition to the bright and vivid images produced by the OLEO display panel,

Vivid Color Reproduction

Using Control for HDMI
The Control for HOMI function allows
communication between Sony
TVs and Sony
equipment. Only Sony equipment with Control for
HDMI capability is supported.

Use an HOMl cable that bears the HOMI logo for
connection. See the

Setting the Control for HOMI
In order for the Control for HDMI function to
operate, the

3. Setting Up the Channel List
-Initial Setup
The Initial Setup screen appears when you turn
on the TV for the first time.
After you finish connecting the TV, you can run
Initial Setup to create alist of available analog
and digital channels if you have connected an
antenna or cable directly to the TV's VHF/UHF/
CABLE input.
You will
be prompted to select the language of
your choice to be used for all the on-screen
settings.
Use the remote control to navigate through the
Initial Setup:
+/+ buttons:
Allow you to highlight options
where applicable.

to the next screen.

Allows you to move back to the

Follow the help text provided on the screen to run
Auto Program with the connected signal source
or select Skip to skip the Auto Program if you
are receiving channels from a cable box or satellite
receiver and the VHF/UHF/CABLE input is not
connected. The Auto Program will scan for
available channels. When the Auto Program is
completed, the TV will display how many analog
and digital channels are found.

•If you accidentally turn off the TV during the Initial
Setup process, the Initial Setup will restart from the
beginning when the TV
is turned back on.
•The Auto Program may be canceled while the
channels are being scanned. Press RETURN first then
press either
+/+ on the remote control, highlight "Yes"
to cancel or "No" to resume Auto Program.
• If and when TV displays screen saver during the
Initial Setup, press +/+/+/+, [±] or VOL +/- to
return to the previously viewed screen.

When using the remote control for the first time
Pull the insulation film out from the remote control.
When changing the battery
Unlock the battery holder by pushing apen tip into
the hole located on the rear
of the remote control.
Slide the battery holder out. Replace the battery with
CR2032 (lithium) battery with 0side up in the
battery
holder of the remote control.
