INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
This manual illustrates the correct use of the PIXE GPRS/SMS V.1.6 tracker device.
Before starting, please insert a SIM card into the tracker device after first making the following
checks on it:
-The PIN request on the SIM must be disabled.
-All call waiting, transfer and voicemail functions should be deleted.
-The SIM must have sufficient credit to make calls and answer remote diagnostic commands with
SMS messages.
-First check the SIM by using it in a normal mobile phone (make a call, answer a call, send and receive
SMS messages).
-For SIMs with separate numbers for voice, data, fax, use the voice number for sending the
programming text messages.
Closely follow the syntaxes described below to send commands by SMS to the tracker device.
Wait about 20 seconds between one SMS and the next to allow the network to send the commands
correctly and let the tracker device encode and subsequently delete them.
When the SMS arrives, the tracker device will acknowledge the command with a series of flashes to
indicate that the message has been received, interpreted and deleted.

We remember also that the device PIXE GPRS / SMS with the command immediate point (##PI) sends
an SMS to mobile phones and smartphone, which are connected to the Internet, allowing the display
of the location of the device maps directly to GOOG E Maps.
These special encrypted SMS allow the localisation of the PIXE GPRS/SMS tracker device even
without the use of a PC and a modem.
To view the firmware version installed on the device, use the ‘##D1’ diagnosis command and wait for
the response from the tracker device.
The tracker device will reply with a message whose first line could be:
“PIXE -GPRS V1.6 – D1” indicating version 1.6 of the firmware
In the diagnostics section and especially following a ##D6 request:
-the SING:xx parameter indicates the field intensity of the GSM signal currently detected by the
PIXE GPRS/SMS.
xx = 05 insufficient GSM signal intensity.
xx = 30 optimum GSM signal intensity.
-the MAIN CE :xxxx…. parameter indicates the data of the main GSM cell to which the tracker
device is connected. This hexadecimal numerical value is displayed as received by the cell phone.
In the diagnostics section and especially following a ##D7 request:
-The BATTERY:xxx parameter indicates the input voltage measured by the tracker device. This
value is only valid and reliable when it is powered using the internal stabiliser as described below.
If the red ED on the tracker device flashes, it is possible to detect the number of satellites
connected to the tracker device . Each rapid flash corresponds to a satellite. Note that the flash will
be slow and long lasting if insufficient satellites have been detected to obtain a reliable localisation.
The flashing sequence described above occurs whenever the time range set in the parameter
##TM00005 expires (default is 5 seconds).
