Besten Dank, dass Sie sich für ein CD/MP3 RDS Receiver von SPECTRON entschieden
haben!
Dieses Gerät verfügt über einige spezielle und fortschrittliche Features.
Obwohl das SPH1100MP3 für einfachste Bedienung ausgelegt wurde ist es dennoch
unvermeidlich, dass einige der implementierten Funktionen nicht unbedingt auf Anhieb
selbsterklärend sind. Wir empfehlen Ihnen deshalb, dieses Manual vor dem Betrieb des
Gerätes genau durchzulesen, damit Sie sich über alle Funktionen und Einstellungen vorab
im Klaren sind. Beachten Sie bitte auch die weiter unten aufgeführten Warnhinweise, um
mögliche Schäden am Gerät oder der weiteren Peripherie zu vermeiden!
GENERELLE WARNHINWEISE
Keine Einstellungen am Gerät während der Fahrt vornehmen, die eine erhöhte
Aufmerksamkeit erfordern!
Stellen Sie unterwegs die Lautstärke im Fahrzeug so hoch ein, dass Sie
Aussengeräusche noch klar wahrnehmen können. Z.B. das Martinshorn von einem
Krankenwagen, der Feuerwehr oder der Polizei!
Dieses Gerät darf nur für Installationen mit +12V Bordnetz mit Minus gegen Masse ver-
wendet werden.
Verwenden Sie nur Sicherungen mit dem der Originalsicherung exakt entsprechenden
Ampere-Wert (10A)!
Bei Fehlfunktionen oder Defekten immer einen Fachhändler oder eine autorisierte
Service-Stelle aufsuchen. Versuchen Sie nie, ein Gerät zu öffnen – oder dieses gar
selber zu reparieren.
Das Gerät sollte nur in einem Temperaturbereich von ca. –10°C bis max. 70°C betrieben
werden. Hohe Luftfeuchtigkeits-Werte und starke Temperaturschwankungen können zur
Kondensation von Feuchtigkeit im Gerät führen. Dies kann die Funktion des CD-Lauf-
werks stark beeinträchtigen. Warten Sie in so einem Fall einige Zeit ab, bis die
Feuchtigkeit verdampft ist!

FUNKTION DER BEDIENELEMENTE
1. “V-SEL / MENU / ENTER / VOLUME UP & DOWN / MENU UP & DOWN” Tasten
1) Drücken Sie die SEL Taste kurz und wiederholt, um in das Sound Menü zu gelangen
und den gewünschten Modus anzuwählen: VOL, BASS (nur wenn DSP aus), TRE (nur wenn
DSP aus), BALANCE und FADER. Drücken Sie „+“ oder „-„ an der Lautstärkewippe um
den Wert entsprechend anzupassen.
2) Drücken Sie die SEL Taste und halten Sie diese für mehr als 1 Sekunde gedrückt, um in
den Menü Modus zu gelangen. Das LCD Display zeigt nun TA SEEK / TA ALARM an,
gleich im Anschluss drücken Sie wiederholt die SEL Taste um einen der nachfolgende
Modi anzuwählen, und die Funktion mit „+“ oder „-„ der VOL-Wippe auszuwählen:
TA SEEK: TA Suche ist aktiviert.
TA ALARM: TA ist ausgeschaltet – TA Alarm ist auch deaktiviert.
MASK DPI: DPI heisst, nur die AF (Alternativfrequenz) mit anderer Programmidentifikation
wird maskiert.
MASK ALL: Die AF mit anderer Programmidentifikation UND mit schwacher RDS
Signalstärke wird maskiert.
DSP POP M, ROCK M, CLASS M, FLAT M: DSP basiertes Pre-Equalizing für verschiede-
ne Musikrichtungen.
LOUD ON / LOUD OFF: Bass und Höhenanhebung für leise Wiedergabe.
BEEP ON / BEEP OFF: ON heisst, jeder Tastendruck wird mit einem Beep über die
Lautsprecher bestätigt.
SEEK 1: Sendersuche (UKW) stoppt an der nächsten empfangbaren Station.
SEEK 2: Sendersuche stoppt beim nächsten Sender, wenn die oder Taste losgelas-
sen wird.
STERO / MONO: Auswahl für UKW Empfang in mono oder stereo. Mono kann bei
schlechter Empfangssituation den Klang verbessern und Störungen zu reduzieren.
LOCAL / DX: Auswahl für die Tunerempfindlichkeit und die Bevorzugung von Lokalsendern
oder entfernten Sendern.
VOL LAST: Die Lautstärke beim Einschalten des Gerätes entspricht dem Level beim aus-
schalten.
VOL ADJ: Der beim Einschalten gewünschte Lautstärkelevel kann auf eine festen Wert
fixiert werden. VOL ADJ mit SEL Taste bestätigen, dann mit den „+“ und „-„ Tasten auf
gewünschten Wert anpassen, mit SEL Taste bestätigen.

3) MP3 Disk jTrack-Suche
Drücken Sie die A.P. Taste einmal um in den in den Track-Suche Modus zu gelangen. Das
LCD Display zeigt nun „TRACK SCH“ an.
Drücken Sie die SEL Taste um die Track-Nummer auszuwählen, das Display zeigt nun 001
an, mit blinkender erster Zahl. Drücken Sie nun die Taste „+“ oder „-„ um den Track 0 bis 9
auszuwählen. SEL länger als 0.5 Sek. gedrückt halten bewirkt, dass der gewünschte Song
abgespielt wird.
Drücken Sie die SEL Taste nochmals, um die zweite Zahlenreihe (10er Reihe) auszuwählen.
Nun wird mit den „+“ und „-„ Tasten die Zahl 0-9 der 10er Reihe eingestellt. Durch
nochmaliges drücken der SEL Taste kann nun noch die 100er Reihe eingestellt werden.
Um eine gewählte Track-Nummer anzuspielen, halten Sie die Taste SEL länger als 0.5
Sekunden gedrückt.
Bemerkung: Wenn die gewählte Track-Nummer grösser ist, als auf der Disk vorhanden,
wird der letzte Track auf der Disk angespielt.
4) MP3 DISK jFile-Suche
A) Drücken Sie die A.P. Taste zweimal kurz hintereinander, um in den File-Suche Modus zu
gelangen. Das LCD Display zeigt jetzt „FILE SCH“ an.
B) Drücken Sie nun die Taste SEL einmal um den ersten Ordner auf der Disk anzuwählen.
Die Auswahl vom gewünschten Ordner erfolgt nun durch drücken der Tasten + oder -.
Bemerkung: Wenn Sie nun die Taste SEL länger als 0.5 Sek. drücken, wird immer der erste
Track im gewählten Ordner angewählt und abgespielt.
C) Drücken Sie die Taste SEL kurz und wiederholt, um jeweils den ersten Track in den vor-
handenen Ordnern anzuzeigen und dann die Tasten „+“ und „-„ um die Track-Nummer
anzupassen.
D) Drücken Sie die Taste SEL länger als 0.5 Sekunden um den gewählten Track abzuspie-
len.
5) MP3 Disk jAlphanumerische Suche von Ordnername
A) Drücken Sie die A.P. Taste dreimal kurz hintereinander, um in den alphanumerischen
Titelsuch-Modus zu gelangen. Das LCD Display zeigt jetzt „CHAR SCH“ an.
B) Drücken Sie nun die Taste SEL einmal um den ersten Buchstaben eines Ordnernamens
anzuzeigen. Die Auswahl beginnt mit dem Buchstaben „A“. Durch drücken der Tasten +
oder – kann nun von A bis Z und dann von 0 bis 9 ausgewählt werden.
Bemerkung: Wenn Sie nun die Taste SEL länger als 0.5 Sek. drücken, wird der erste Track
mit dem vorher ausgewählten Buchstaben angespielt.
C) Drücken Sie die Taste SEL nochmals, um jeweils nun den zweiten Buchstaben des
Tracks auszuwählen. Auch hier kann durch drücken der Tasten „+“ und „-„ der gewünsch-
te Buchstabe von A bis Z oder die Zahl 0 bis 9 gewählt werden.
Die gleiche Prozedur wie oben beschrieben, lässt sich für weitere Buchstaben/Zahlen
beliebig fortsetzen.
D) Um eine getätigte Auswahl abzuspielen, muss die Taste SEL länger als 0.5 Sekunden
gedrückt werden.
Bemerkung: Bei einer falschen Eingabe kann der zuletzt gewählte Buchstabe durch
drücken der Taste A.P. gelöscht werden.
2. „OPEN“ Taste
Das Drücken der OPEN Taste senkt das Front-Panel ab und gibt den CD-Einschub-Slot
frei. Sie können nun bei geöffnetem Panel entweder eine CD einschieben, oder eine bereits
geladene CD oder CD-ROM durch den Druck auf die Eject Taste auswerfen, oder einfach
das Panel abziehen und entfernen (siehe Seite 9).
3. „LCD DISPLAY“
Das LCD Display zeigt Sendernamen, Uhrzeit, Titelnummer etc. an.

4. „UP“ und „DOWN“ TASTEN
1) Im Tuner-Modus ermöglicht das kurze und/oder das wiederholte Drücken der Tasten
„„ oder „„ die manuelle Verstellung der Empfangsfrequenz in kleinen Schritten. Wenn
Sie diese Tasten für länger als 0.5 Sek. gedrückt halten, wird der automatische
Sendersuchlauf aktiviert, der am nächsten gut empfangbaren Sender stoppt.
2) Im CD-Player Modus: Durch das Drücken der Taste „„ erfolgt ein Titelsprung nach
vorne, durch drücken der Taste „„ erfolgt ein Sprung zurück an den Anfang des Tracks.
Wenn Sie die Tasten „„ oder „„ länger gedrückt halten, skippen Sie entsprechend vor-
wärts oder rückwärts durch den gerade laufenden Titel auf der CD.
5. „AUTOMATISCHE SENDERSUCHE / SENDER-VORWAHL“ TASTEN
1) TUNER: Drücken Sie die A.P. Taste im Tuner-Modus, um alle empfangbaren Sender im
Empfangsgebiet für 5 Sekunden anzuspielen. Während dieses Vorgangs wird die jeweilige
Sendefrequenz und die Stationsnummer im Display blinkend angezeigt.
Wenn die A.P. Taste länger als 2 Sekunden gedrückt gehalten wird, sucht der automati-
sche Sendersuchlauf die sechs am besten empfangbaren Sender und legt diese direkt im
Senderspeicher ab. Wenn diese Operation beendet ist, beginnt das Radio mit dem
Anspielen aller gespeicherten Sender. Der Senderscan mit Anspielen kann durch einen
Druck auf eine der sechs Stationstasten beendet werden.
2) MP3 DISK: Wenn eine MP3 Disk geladen ist, können Sie durch wiederholten Druck auf
die A.P. Taste den Suchmodus wie folgt anpassen: TRACK SEARCH jFILE SEARCH j
ALPHANUMERISCHE SUCHE. Details hierzu finden Sie auf Seite 2 und 3.
6. „BAND“ Taste
Durch kurzes Drücken der BND Taste können Sie eine der drei UKW Stationsgruppen
(FM1, FM2, FM3) anwählen. Jeder der Stationsgruppen ermöglicht das abspeichern von
jeweils sechs UKW-Sendern.
7. „TA (TRAFFIC ANNOUNCEMENT)“ Taste
TA bedeutet, „Traffic Announcement“, also Verkehrsdurchsage. Mit kurzem Druck auf
diese Taste wird die TA Funktion ein- oder ausgeschaltet. Bei eingeschaltem TA-Modus
leuchtet das TA-Segment im LCD Display.
Wenn die TA Funktion durch drücken der Taste aktiviert wird, beginnt der Tuner nach
Sendern zu suchen, die TA unterstützen. Hierbei blinkt im Display „TA SEEK“.
Wenn TA aktiviert ist:
1) Im CD-Betrieb, schaltet sich bei einer Verkehrsdurchsage das UKW Radio ein –
die Verkehrsdurchsage wird wiedergegeben. Nach dem Ende der Durchsage wech-
selt das Gerät zurück in den CD-Betriebsmodus.
2) Befindet sich das Gerät im UKW Radio-Betrieb, wechselt das Radio auf eine
andere Station, wenn es einen EON Sender (Enhanced Other Networks) und eine
Verkehrsdurchsage auf einer anderen Frequenz erkennt.
3) Wenn sich die eingestellte Lautstärke auf einem tieferen Wert als 20 befindet,
wird die Lautstärke automatisch auf 20 erhöht, danach senkt sich die Lautstärke auf
den vorher eingestellten Wert ab. Wenn die Lautstärke während der Durchsage
geändert wird, kehrt das Headunit nach Ende der Durchsage trotzdem auf den vor-
her eingestellten Lautstärke Wert zurück.
* TA Unterbrechnungs-Funktion
Eine Verkehrsdurchsage kann jeweils durch den Druck auf die TA Taste beendet werden.
Die TA Funktion ist aber durch diesen Druck nicht ausser Kraft gesetzt.
Bei aktiviertem TA können die Sendersuche- und Senderspeicher Funktionen erst dann
genutzt werden, wenn auch Sender mit TA Kennung empfangen werden.

RDS EON LOCAL & DISTANCE MODUS
Wenn die TA Taste länger gedrückt gehalten wird, kann zwischen EON TA LOCAL und
EON TA DISTANT umgeschaltet werden. Der Sinn dieser zwei Modi ist unnötiges
Umschalten zwischen Alternativfrequenzen zu vermeiden.
EON TA LOCAL Modus: Wenn die Signalstärke vom EON verlinkten Sender tiefer liegt wie
der eingestellte Schwellenwert, schaltet der Tuner trotzdem nicht auf eine
Alternativfrequenz um – um Unterbrechungen in der Radiowiedergabe zu unterbinden.
Wenn EON-TO Local gewählt wurde, zeigt das LCD Display EAN-TA LO für ein Paar
Sekunden an.
EONTA DISTANT Modus: Die EON TA Umschaltung auf einen stärkeren Sender ist durch
den gerade empfangenen Sender gesteuert, d.h. der Tuner schaltet permanent auf den
jeweiligen stärksten Sender der empfangen wird. Im Display wird für ein Paar Sekunden
EON TA DX angezeigt, wenn diese Einstellung gewählt wurde.
8. „PTY (PROGRAM TYPE)“ Taste
Sendersuche nach Programmtyp: Drücken Sie die PTY Taste wiederholt, um die PTY-
Funktion auszuwählen. Zwei unterschiedliche Modi sind möglich: PTY Sprache (Speech)
und PTY Musik (Music), oder PTY Aus (Off).
Nach Auswahl des PTY Typs, sind jeweils verschiedene Programme wählbar (siehe auch
Seite 7). Wenn PTY Musik oder Sprache aktiviert ist, sehen Sie im Display den entspre-
chenden Programmtyp im Display, nachdem eine der sechs Stationstasten gedrückt
wurde. Findet während 2 Sekunden keine Eingabe statt, wird das letzte gewählte PTY
Programm angewählt. Wenn nach einer PTY Programmsuche kein Sender mit Kennung
gefunden wird, zeigt das LCD Display blinkend „NO PTY“ an.
9. „POWER“ Taste
Zum Einschalten des Geräts können Sie jede beliebige Taste ausser OPEN und EJECT
drücken. Halten Sie die PWR Taste länger als 0.5 Sekunden gedrückt, um das Gerät aus-
zuschalten.
10. „AF (ALTERNATIVE FREQUENCIES)“ Taste
Durch drücken der AF Taste wählen Sie den AF Modus. AF ist eine RDS basierende
Funktionserweiterung vom Empfänger, d.h. der Tuner sucht automatisch den Sender mit
bestem Empfang und schaltet selber auf eine andere Frequenz um mit besserem Empfang
(dies geschieht prakt. unhörbar). Der AF Status wird im LCD Display angezeigt.

jLeuchtsegement „AF“ blinkt: AF Modus ist aktiviert, aber die entsprechende RDS Info
wird im Moment nicht empfangen, oder der Tuner ist gerade am scannen einer
Alternativfrequenz.
Leuchtsegment blinkt:
Bei aktiviertem AF-Modus, vergleicht der Tuner in kurzen Intervallen die Signalstärke vom
empfangenen Sender. Je nach Empfangslage kann dies einmal innerhalb von mehreren
Minuten der Fall sein (bei starken Sendern) oder aber alle Paar Sekunden, wenn der Sender
nur sehr schwach empfangen wird. Wird eine neue und stärkere Sendestation im
Empfangsbereich gefunden, blinkt das Display ca. 1 bis 2 Sekunden auf und meldet „NEW
FREQUENCY“. Die Umschaltung auf einen stärkern Sender erfolgt schnell und ist daher
normalerweise unhörbar.
Wenn die AF Funktion aktiviert ist, lassen sich nur Sender suchen und abspeichern, die
RDS Daten beinhalten.

RDS REGIONAL MODUS
Wird die AF Taste länger gedrückt gehalten, kommen Sie in den Regional-Modus, dieser
lässt sich ein-, oder ausschalten. Einige Programme von Sendeanstalten werden zu gewis-
sen Zeiten in Regionalprogramme unterteilt. Die Funktion REG sorgt dafür, dass ein emp-
fangenes Regionalprogramm nicht zugunsten einer besseren Empfangsqualität durch das
Programm aus einer anderen Senderegion (mit anderm Inhalt) ersetzt wird (REG ON).
Regional Modus an: Das REG Icon im Display leuchtet dauerhaft auf.
Regional Modus ausgeschaltet: Das REG Icon im Display leuchtet nicht. In der REG OFF
Betriebsart empfängt das Gerät automatisch den jeweiligen RDS-Ortssender – wechselt
aber bei stärkerem Empfang einer Alternativfrequenz auf die Station mit der besseren
Empfangsqualität.
11. „MUTE“ Taste
Ein drücken der MUTE Taste ermöglicht die Stummschaltung der gerade laufenden Quelle.
Erneutes drücken dieser Taste deaktiviert den Mute Modus.
12. „PRESET STATION (1-6) und TOP / CDP, INT, RPT, RDM“ Tasten
A) Radio Modus: Durch kurzes drücken auf eine der sechs Stationstasten wählen Sie einen
vorher abgespeicherten Sender an.
Durch längeres drücken einer der sechs Stationstasten können Sie einen gerade laufenden
Sender unter einer Stationsnummer Ihrer Wahl abspeichern.
PTY Modus: Bei aktiviertem PTY, dienen die Stationstasten auch der PTY Programmsuche
– und zwar mit folgender Tastenbelegung: :

3. Classics, Other Music 3. Culture, Science, Various

6. Folk Music 6. Travel, Leisure, Documentation
B) Im CD Modus drücken Sie die Taste TOP/CDP um die Wiedergabe zu pausieren.
Drücken Sie die Taste erneut und halten Sie sie für 0.5 Sek. um zum ersten Track auf der
Disk zu springen.
D) Im CD Modus drücken Sie die Taste INT um die ersten 10 Sekunden von jedem auf der
CD vorhandenen Track anzuspielen. Drücken Sie diese Taste erneut um diesen
Anspielmodus zu beenden.
E) Im CD Modus drücken Sie die Taste RPT um die Wiedergabe der aktuellen Tracks (end-
los) zu wiederholen. Drücken Sie diese Taste erneut um den Modus zu beenden.
F) Im CD Modus drücken Sie die Taste RDM um die Zufalls-Wiedergabe von Tracks auf
einer eingelegten Disk zu aktivieren. Drücken Sie die Taste erneut um den Zufallsmodus zu
beenden.
G) Beim Abspielen einer MP3 Disk bewirken die Tasten „5“ und „6“ einen Titelsprung von
jeweils 10 Tracks nach oben oder unten.
13. „MODE“ Taste
Die MODE Taste ermöglicht ein Umschalten der Wiedergabefunktion zwischen CD-Player
und UKW Radio.

DES SPH1100MP3 !
Lautsprecher-Impedanz! Die an die vier einzelnen Ausgänge angeschlossenen
Lautsprecher müssen eine Minimal-Impedanz von 4 Ohm aufweisen. Der Anschluss von
Lautsprechern mit einer tiefer liegenden Impedanz kann zu erhöhten Verzerrungen oder gar
der Zerstörung des internen Verstärkers führen.
ACHTUNG: Schliessen Sie erst alle Kabel des Geräts an – d.h. Stromversorgung und
Lautsprecher – bevor Sie das abnehmbare Bedienteil ans Headunit anklicken! Bei einer
Fehlfunktion nach Abschluss der Installation drücken Sie den Reset Knopf um den
Mikroprocessor auf seine Standardwerte zurückszustellen.
1. Dieses Gerät ist für den Anschluss an +12V mit minus gegen Masse ausgelegt.
Vergewissern Sie sich, dass dies bei Ihrer Stromversorgung der Fall ist!
2. Nachdem Ihr Fahrzeug für längere Zeit an der prallen Sonne gestanden hat, schalten
Sie das Gerät nicht sofort ein. Fahren Sie erst los und lassen Sie das innere des
Fahrzeugs etwas abkühlen.
3. Drücken Sie den „OPEN“ Knopf, damit das Bedienteil nach unten klappt (gemäss
Fig. 1) – nun können Sie die Front abziehen und diese im mitgelieferten Schutz-Etui
aufbewahren.
4. Um das Bedienteil wieder am Gerät festzumachen, führen Sie die Front in die
Führung ein und schieben es satt nach hinten. Nun lässt sich die Front zuklappen
und einrasten.

HINWEISE ZUR HANDHABUNG VON DISKS
Wenn Sie CD’s vor dem Abspielen reinigen wollen, benützen Sie hierfür ein sauberes fus-
selfreies Tuch. Wischen Sie die Disk immer gemäss der Grafik unten ab, d.h. von innen
nach aussen – und niemals kreisförmig.
ANMERKUNG: Benutzen Sie zum Reinigen der CD’s keine Verdünner, Antistatic-Sprays
oder Alkohol. Dies könnte die Oberfläche der CD angreifen! Führen Sie eine CD immer mit
der Beschriftung nach oben zeigend in das Gerät ein, der CD-Lademechanismus könnte
sonst verklemmen.
ANMERKUNG: Stellen Sie, bevor Sie eine neue CD einführen immer sicher, dass sich
keine mehr im Laufwerksschacht befindet. Halten Sie CD’s möglichst sauber. Greifen Sie
CD’s immer am Rand, damit verhindern Sie Fingerbdrücke – welche die Datenauslesung
stören könnten.
Kleben Sie keine Labels, Kleber oder Papiersticker auf die Oberseite der Disk, diese könn-
ten als Unwucht wirken. CD’s sollten ausserdem nie an der prallen Sonne liegen gelassen
werden. Dies gilt speziell für geparkte Fahrzeuge und während den Sommer Monaten.

Thank you for purchasing the SPECTRON MP3 CD-Receiver. This headunit features a
number of sophisticated functions, ensuring superior FM reception with full RDS funtionali-
ty as well as a truly convenient and easy operation. Most of the implemented features are
straightforward to understand and operate, but some of them are not self explaining. It is
therefore suggested, that you read this manual completely, as it will help you to obtain full
performance of this device, maximizing your listening pleasure.
We recommend, that you familiarize yourself with all the functions and how to set and
operate them, before you start to use this product. Please pay attention to the sections
marked with “Attention” and also carefully study the “WARNINGS & PRECAUTION” section
below.
WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS
Do not operate any function that takes your attention away from safely driving your
vehicle!
Keep the volume at a level where you can still hear environmental noise while you are
driving, in order to make sure you hear the signals of the police, ambulance cars or fire
fighters approaching from behind.
Do not disassemble, modify or alter this unit. Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself!
Use this headunit in vehicles or for installations with +12V power supply against
negative chassis ground!
Use the correct ampere rating when replacing a blown fuse (10A).
Your headunit is operated best in a temperature range of –10 to max. 70°C. If the
vehicle was parked in direct sunlight (summertime!), drive a mile or two with the
aircondition on, to cool down the temperature inside your car, before you turn on your
headunit.
Rapid temperature changes can cause condensation of humidity inside the headunit
(laser pickup). If you hear a waving pitch like sound during CD playback, remove the
disc and let the moisture inside evaporate.

CONTROLS KEYS AND THEIR FUNCTION
1. V-SEL MENU / ENTER(SEL) AND VOL- & / MENU-& KEYS
1) Press the SEL key repeatedly to select the SOUND mode: VOLUME, BASS (when DSP
OFF), TREBLE (when DSP OFF), BALANCE and FADER. After selecting the sound mode,
press the “+” or “–“ keys of the volume, to adjust the selected sound mode to an appropri-
ate level.
2) Press the SEL key and hold it for 1 second to enter the MENU mode and to display the
adjustment modes as listed below – and select the desired setting by pressing the “+” or
“-“ keys.

VOL ADJ, press the SEL key, then adjust the desired volume.

3) MP3 DISK PLAYBACK jTRACK SEARCH
Press the A.P. key once to enter track search mode. The LCD display will now show
“TRACK SCH”.
Press the SEL key to display a three digit track selection, and you should now see “001”
on the display with the last digit flashing. Now press the “+” or “-“ keys to adjust the first
digit from 0 to 9. You can now play the selected track by pressing the SEL key for more
than 0.5 seconds. Else to choose a track number above 9, proceed with section “C)”.
Press the SEL key again to select the second row digit and alter the track number (X1X to
X9X) by pressing the “+” or “-“ keys. You can repeat this step once more, if you need to
adjust the digit in the third row.
Press the SEL key for more than 0.5 sec. to play the track number you have entered
before.
4) MP3 DISK PLAYBACK jFILE SEARCH
Press the A.P. key twice to enter file search mode. The LCD display will now show
“FILE SCH”.
Press the SEL key to select and display the first folder on the disk. Now press the “+” or
“-“ keys to choose further folders on this disk, by jumping up- or downwards.
* If you just want to play the first track of the selected folder, you can now press and
hold the SEL key for more than 0.5 sec and playback will begin.
Press the SEL key again to select and display the first track of the folder selected under
point “B)” above. Now press the “+” or “-“ keys to move up or down in the track number
list of the selected folder. Just shortly press the SEL key, to play the selected track.
5) MP3 PLAYBACK jALPHANUMERICAL SEARCH
Press the A.P. key three times, to enter the alphanumerical (character) search mode. The
LCD diplay shows “CHAR SCH”.
Press the SEL key once to display the first character digit from left to right (digit A). Now
press the “+” or “-“ keys to scroll through A to Z and then from 0 to 9. To select the first
digit, press the SEL key for more than 0.5 sec.
Press the SEL key once more to display the second character from left to right, now press
the “+” or “-“ keys to scroll through characters and press the SEL button shortly, to fix the
second digit. Repeat the steps discribed above for the third, fourth…. digit.
To play your selection press and hold the SEL key for more than 0.5 second.
* While being in the character search mode, you can press the A.P. key to delete the
last digit selected before.
2. OPEN BUTTON
Press the OPEN key to flip down the front panel. When the flip down front is open, you can
insert a compact disc or MP3 CD-ROM into the slot - or press the EJECT button, to
retrieve a disc that was loaded before. You can slide out the panel, to take it away from the
the headunit – see page 7 for details.

4. UP / DOWN KEYS
1) While in RADIO mode, press the UP () or DOWN () keys repeatedly to manually seek
for a stronger radio station of a higher frequency step by step. Or press and hold either 
or for more than 0.5 sec. to activate the auto station tuning function.
2) While in CD mode, press the UP () key to move on to the next track on the disc. Or
press the DOWN () key to jump back to the beginning of the track that is currently being
played. Holding down the or keys will let you skip forwards or backwards.
5. AUTO STORAGE / PRESET MEMORY SCAN KEYS
1) While in radio mode, press this key to play all preset stations for 5 seconds. Each preset
station with its tuning frequency will be displayed on the LCD display. When you press and
hold this key for more than 2 seconds, the six strongest stations will be tuned in and
directly stored on the preset station keys (1 – 6). After auto tuning and storage has been
performed by the headunit, each station will be played for 5 seconds. Press one of the pre-
set station keys, to stop the station scan.
2) While playing an MP3 disc, press the A.P key repeatedly to select TRACK SEARCH,
FILE SEARCH, or CHARACTER SEAR mode. See page 2 to 3 for more info.
6. BAND KEY
Press this key repeatedly to select your desired radio band in tuner mode (FM1 jFM2 j
FM3). Your selection will be displayed on the LCD display. Press this key for more than 2
seconds to activate LOUDNESS, which gives the sound an emphasis in the treble and
bass region for a fuller sound at low listening levels.
7. TA (TRAFFIC ANNOUNCEMENT) KEY
When the TA button is pressed shortly, TA mode can be toggled on or off. When the TA
function is active, the TA icon in the LCD display is highlighted. Activating the TA function
will cause the display to show TA SEEK for a while.
When TA signals are received, traffic announcements will be transmitted as follows:
When the unit is in CD mode, it will switch over to radio mode for the traffic anouncement
temporarily.
When the unit is in radio mode, the tuner will switch over to another EON linked radio sta-
tion, when the TA system detects a traffic announcement on that other program.
3) If the volume level has been set under the threshold point, it will automatically be raised
up to the threshold point (vol 20) for the traffic announcement. But if you have set a volume
higher than the minimum TA volume level, the volume will default back to the last level
before the traffic anouncement.
TA interruption function: The current traffic announcement can be canceled by pressing
the TA button. But the TA mode will not be set to off.

RDS EON LOCAL & DISTANT MODE
When the TA key is pressed longer, EON TA LOCAL or EON TA DISTANCE mode can be
selected and set. The purpose of these two modes is to reduce unwanted EON TA switch-
ing, for example when EON TA information is received from the current station and the
tuner attempts to switch over to another EON linked station, but no information is received,
because the linked station is out of reach. In such a case, the tuner would switch back and
forth, and the music is muted for short periods of time. This can be avoided:
EON TA LOCAL mode: When the received field strength of the EON linked station is less
than the threshold level, the tuner does not switch over to that station, and this prevents
the listerner from audible dropouts in the music program. When EON-TA LOCAL mode is
selected, EON-TA LO lights up in the numeric section of the LCD display for a few sec-
onds.
EONTA DISTANCE mode: EON TA switching is implemented by the information of currently
received station. EON TA DX will light up in the LCD display for a couple of seconds, when
it is selected.
8. PTY (PROGRAM TYPE) KEY
Press this key repeatedly to select one of the following PTY program modes: PTY MUSIC
group - PTY SPEECH group - PTY OFF.
For the PTY presets also see the description under point 12. PRESET STATIONS. After
selecting either PTY SPEECH or PTY MISIC, you can press one of the six preset keys to
select the desired PTY type that is assigned by default to this key.
When PTY is selected, the radio starts to search corresponding PTY information, and stops
if corresponding PTY information is detected. If PTY information can no longer be received,
PTY mode is ended and the tuner defaults back to normal mode.
9. POWER BUTTON
Press any key on the front panel – except the EJECT and OPEN buttons - to turn on the
unit. Press and hold the PWR key for more than 0.5 sec. to turn the headunit off.
10. AF (ALTERNATIVE FREQUENCIES) KEY
When this button is pressed shortly, the AF switching mode is selected and in addition, the
switching mode state is displayed by an illuminated AF icon in the display.
jAF icon is off: AF switching mode is off.
jAF icon is on: AF switching mode is on, and the headunit receives RDS information.
jAF icon is flashing: AF switching mode is selected, but RDS information is not received
yet, i.e. the tuner is seeking a new station of higher and better signal strength. When the
AFswitching mode is turned on, the tuner constantly checks the AF signal strength. The AF
interval time between the station checks depends on the received signal strength of cur-
rent station, and thus it varies between minutes for a very strong station down to a few
seconds for weak station. Every time a new station is found with a higher signal strength
than the current station received, the tuner will switch over to the better station offering the
stronger signal. In this case, “NEW FREQUENCY” is shown in the display for 1 – 2 sec-
onds. Because the muting time for AF switching is very short, it remains aImost inaudible.
When the AF button is pressed for a longer time, it activates the REGIONAL MODE. By
repeating this step, the REGIONAL MODE can be toggled on or off.
REGIONAL MODE ON: AF switching or Pl SEEK is activated for the stations that transmit
Pl codes identical to the station you are currently listening to.

The REG icon is highlighted in the LCD display for a couple of seconds.
In this double displaying mode – AF MODE ON and REGIONAL MODE ON - the individual
icons may be deleted when there is not enough space in the display, to show both modes.
REGIONAL MODE OFF: The regionaI code in the format of Pl code is ignored when AF
switching or Pl SEEK are activated. The REG icon turns dim and REG OFF is displayed in
the LCD display for a few seconds.
11. MUTE KEY
Press the MUTE key to mute the sound immeditely – and press MUTE again, to deactivate
the muting funtion. To resume normal play, you can also press the MODE, BAND, +, -,
LOUD, or SEL keys.
12. PRESET STATION (1-6) AND TOP / CDP / INT / RPT / RDM KEYS
IN RADIO MODE: Pressing one of these keys will select one of the preset radio stations.
When a key is pressed for more than one second, the currently tuned radio station will be
stored on that specific key.
PTY Operation: The keys are also used to operate the PTY function – when the PTY key is
pressed, the default presets are assigned as follows:

When in CD-player mode, press the TOP/CDP key to pause CD playback, and press this
key again to resume playback. Press and hold this key for more than 0.5 second to play
the first track on a given disk.
When in CD-player mode, press the INT key to play the first 10 seconds (intro) of each
track on the inserted disc. Press the INT key again, to stop the intro mode and select the
current track to be played back normally.
While in CD-player mode, press the RPT key to repeat the currently played track infinitely.
Press the RPT key once more to cancel this mode.
While in CD-player mode, press the RDM key, to play tracks on a disc in random order.
Press this key again, to cancel this mode.
When playing a MP3 disc, the keys “5” and “6” will let you skip 10 tracks forward or back-
ward when pressed.
13. MODE KEY
Press the MODE key to either select the radio or CDP as source.

1. This headunit is designed to be operated in verhicles with an on-board
voltage supply of +12V against negative chassis ground.
2. Push the OPEN button, to flip down the front panel (Fig.1). The face-plate
can now be detached – just slide it out of its bracket (Fig.2/3).
3. To reattach the face-plate, just align it with the the bracket and slide it
back in. you can now close the front by pushing the front panel upwards
until it locks in place.

DISC CARE & HANDLING
Disk Cleaning:
NOTE:
Do not use organic solvents such as benzene, thinners etc. CommercialIy available clean-
ers or antistatic sprays can damage the compact disc. Always insert the disc with the label
facing upwards. Inserting the disc with the label pointing down may damage the headunit.
NOTE:
Do not try to insert another disc, when one has been already inserted . Doing so may dam-
age the headunit. Always grab a disc by its edge. To keep discs clean, try to avoid touch-
ing the surface.
Note:
jDo not stick paper or tape on the disc.
jDo not expose compact discs to direct sunlight or other sources of heat in your car,
such as hot air ducts etc. In addition, you should not leave disc lying open in the parked
car. Especially your MP3 discs are in danger, because burned disks easily “bleach out” in
direct sunlight. This can sometimes be heard – as the disk starts to produce audible drop
outs when played.
