Installation Instructions for 55" & 65” Storm Shell Pole Mount

Purpose of the Pole Mount
The 55/65 Storm Shell Pole Mount is designed to be used with either the 55 Storm Shell TV Hard
Cover, or the 65 Storm Shell TV Hard Cover. This instruction manual is a supplement to the Assembly
and Installation Instructions for 55”& 65” Storm Shell TV Hard Cover.
The 55 or 65 Storm Shell Pole Mount allows the 55 or 65 Storm Shell hard cover, and TV bracket to
be assembled to a vertical cylindrical pole.

Caution
Prior to installation of this product, the installation instructions should be read and
completely understood. The installation instructions must be read to prevent personal injury
and property damage. Keep these installation instructions in an easily accessible location for
future reference.
This mount and hard cover contains small parts which can act as a choking hazard if
swallowed.
CAUTION: The maximum TV load capacity is 110 lbs. (50 kg). Use with products exceeding
the maximum load capacity may cause serious injury.
The pole structure must be capable of supporting at least five times the maximum load
capacity as indicated. If not, the pole must be reinforced.
Do not install on a structure that is prone to vibration, movement or chance of impact.
Failure to do so could result in damage to the display and/or damage to the mounting
surface.
Do not install near heater, fireplace, air conditioning or any other heat producing source.
Failure to do so may result in damage to the display and/or the hard cover and could
increase the risk of fire.
Make sure no water or natural gas lines are present where the mount is to be installed.
Cutting or drilling into water or natural gas lines could cause personal injury or property
damage.
Proper installation procedure by yourself or a qualified service technician, as outlined in the
installation instructions, must be adhered to. Failure to do so could result in serious personal
injury.
It is recommended that two people perform the installation. Injury and/or damage can result
from dropping or mishandling the display.
If you don't understand these installation instructions, please consult an installation
specialist.

Prepare the Storm Shell Back and Front (Follow assembly
instructions found in 55 or 65 Storm Shell Instruction Manual)
Install the Storm Shell Back onto Pole Mount
Two people are needed for this installation.
1. Place Storm Shell on a protective cover over the ground or other smooth surface with the
back facing upwards. Position the Pole Mount Plate on the back of the Storm Shell. Make
sure the flat side of Mount Plate is lying flat against Storm Shell Hard Cover Back (Figure 4a
and 4b). Line up pre-drilled TV Mounting holes on Storm Shell Hard Cover with holes on Pole
Mount Plate. (optional –to ensure Mount Plate is in correct location you may assemble (4)
M8 x 30mm bolts (L6). Insert from the back of Pole Mount Plate and fasten on inside of
body)

2. With Pole Mount Bracket Lying Flat against Storm Shell Back, mark (4) drill locations (Figure
4b). Use Bubble Level to ensure the Pole Mount Bracket is level. If (4) bolts were assembled
prior to marking drill locations, dis-assemble (4) M8 bolts. Next, remove Pole Mount
Bracket and use ¼” drill bit in Electric Drill to drill through body of Storm Shell TV Hard Cover
Body (Figure 4c).

3. Position Pole Mount Bracket at desired height on vertical pole. Next, assemble proper U-Bolts
(L1, L2, L3, or L4) around vertical pole depending on the diameter of the pole (Figure 5a). Tightly
fasten on back side of Mount Plate with M8 Nut (L8), Spring Washer (L10), and Flat Washer (L9).

4. Position back part of the Storm Shell TV Hard Cover on the assembled vertical Pole Mount Plate.
Assemble (4) M6 x 16mm bolts (L5) through the back side of the Pole Mount Plate through
corresponding drilled holes on the Storm Shell TV Hard Cover Body from Step 2. The Hole Locations
can be seen in Figure 6b. Fasten bolts with M6 nuts (L7) from the inside of Hard Cover Body.

5. Connect Storm Shell TV Mounting Bracket to the Pole Mount Plate through the TV Hard Cover
Body (Figure 7a). Fasten using (4) M8 x 30mm bolts (L6) starting from the back of the Pole Mounting
Plate through the corresponding holes on the TV Hard Cover, and through the holes (4) on TV
Mounting Bracket vertical plate. Tightly fasten with M8 Nut (L8), Spring Washer (L10) and Flat
Washer (L9) on the inside of Mounting Bracket.

4. Install the Storm Shell Front and check that cover and latches fit correctly.
Install the TV Display
Follow the instructions in the Assembly and Installation Instructions for 55”or 65” Storm Shell.
PLEASE NOTE: The following parts included in the Storm Shell TV Mounting Hardware are included
with the Storm Shell TV Hard Cover. When Installing the Storm Shell Pole Mount, some of the
mounting components included with the Storm Shell TV Hard Cover are not used. These are the
components normally used to mount the TV bracket onto a wall. These components are marked
below and are not to be used if using the Storm Shell Pole Mount.
