CAUTION

Stop operation immediately if any liquid or solid object should fall into the cabinet.
If the unit is not to be used for a long period of time, make sure that all power
sources are disconnected from the unit. Remove all batteries from the battery
compartment, and unplug the AC-DC adaptor from the wall outlet. Make it a
practice to remove the AC-DC adaptor by grasping the plug and not by pulling the
cord.
ON PLACEMENT
Do not use the unit in places, which are extremely hot, cold, dusty or humid.
Place the unit on a flat and even surface.
Do not restrict the airflow of the unit by placing it in a place with poor
ventilation, by covering it with a cloth or by placing it on a carpet.
ON CONDENSATION
When left in a heated room where it is warm and damp, water droplets
or condensation may form inside the unit.
When there is condensation inside the unit, the unit may not function normally.
Let it stand for 1 to 2 hours before turning the power on, or gradually heat the
room up and dry the unit before use.
Should any trouble occur, remove the power source and refer servicing to qualified
personnel.

POWER SOURCE
The SB2127 operates using the supplied AC Adapter (AC 120V ~ 60Hz) or with
4 X ’C' size (UM-2) batteries (not included).
BATTERY OPERATION
1. Remove the Battery Door located on the back of the unit carefully pushing the
battery door lock towards the OPEN direction. The battery door can then be
removed.
2. Following the polarity diagram shown in the battery compartment, insert 4 X `C'
size (UM-2) batteries (not included) and replace the battery door.
NOTE :Disconnect the AC adapter before installing the batteries.
For best performance and longer operating time, we recommend the use of
alkaline
batteries.
BATTERY WARNING
1.Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly. Wrong polarity may damage
the unit.
2. Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
3. Do not mix old and new batteries.
4. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium)
batteries.
5. If the unit is not to be used for an extended period of time, remove the batteries.
Old or leaking batteries can cause damage to the unit and may void the
warranty.
6. Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; They can
overheat and rupture. (Follow battery manufacturer’s directions).
7. Do not dispose of batteries in fire, Batteries may leak or explode.
AC ADAPTOR OPERATION
1. Plug the AC adaptor into normal AC power outlet socket.
2. Insert the DC plug of the AC adaptor cord into the DC IN JACK (#19) at the
back of the unit.
3. When the unit is operated using AC adapter, the battery source
will
automatically be disconnected.
NOTE: Only use the supplied adapter
WARNING : Before connecting to the power supply, ensure that the supply
corresponds to the information on the rating label at the back of the
apparatus.

RADIO OPERATION
1. Slide the FUNCTION SWITCH (#4) to the RADIO position. The POWER
INDICATOR (#3) will light.
2. Rotate the TUNING CONTROL (#12) to your desired radio station according to
the dial scale on the SB2127.
3. Rotate the VOLUME CONTROL (#2) to adjust to the desired output level.
4. To turn off the radio, set the FUNCTION SWITCH (#4) to the TAPE (POWER OFF)
position
TIPS FOR BEST RADIO RECEPTION:
To insure maximum FM tuner reception, fully extend the TELESCOPIC ANTENNA
(#13) for best FM radio reception
AUX IN OPERATION
You can playback your favorite music from your iPod or portable digital audio player
using the Aux in function.
1. Connect the headphone jack of your external device to the AUX IN JACK (#1)
located on the top of the unit using a audio cable (not included) with a 3.5mm
stereo plug on either ends.
2. Slide the FUNCTION SWITCH (#4) to AUX.
3. Start playing your external audio device.
4. Slowly increase the volume control of the unit until the desired level is obtained.
To avoid output sound distortion due to overloading, you may need to lower the
volume output of your audio device.
Notes:
•The stereo music from your audio device will be converted to a monaural audio
output.
•If you connect this unit to the Line-Out Jack of your external device then you only
need to adjust the volume control of this unit. If you connect the Headphone Jack of
your external device then you may need to adjust both the volume controls of your
external device and this unit to obtain the desirable volume setting.
•Slide the FUNCTION SWITCH (#4) to TAPE(POWER OFF) position to turn off the
unit when you have finished listening.
•Don't forget to switch off the power of your external device as well.

PLAYBACK
1. Slide the FUNCTION SWITCH (#4) to the TAPE position.
2. Press the STOP/EJECT BUTTON (#7) to open the CASSETTE DOOR (#15).
3. Put in a cassette tape with the side to play facing out, and close the
CASSETTE DOOR (#15).
4. Press the PLAY BUTTON (#10) to active playback. The POWER INDICATOR
(#3) will light.
5. Adjust the VOLUME CONTROL (#2) to the desired level.
6. Use the PAUSE BUTTON (#6) when you want to stop playback temporarily.
7. Press the STOP/EJECT BUTTON (#7) when finished.
Recording from the AUX IN
1. Slide the FUNCTION SWITCH (#4) to AUX position. The POWER INDICATOR
(#3) will light.
2. Connect the headphone jack of your external device to the AUX IN JACK (#1).
3. Load a blank cassette tape into the Cassette Compartment.
4. Press the PAUSE BUTTON (#6).
5. Press the RECORD BUTTON (#11).
6. Start playing your external audio device.
7. Release the PAUSE BUTTON (#6) to begin recording.
8. To stop recording, press STOP/EJECT BUTTON (#7).

Recording from the built-in Radio
1. Select the FUNCTION SWITCH (#4) to RADIO position. The POWER indicator
will light.

BUTTON ((#6).
4. Press the RECORD BUTTON (#11).
5. Release the PAUSE BUTTON (#6) to begin recording.
6. To stop recording, press STOP/EJECT BUTTON (7).
Notes :
•When the tape plays to the end, recording will stop automatically.

•The SB2127 is a mono player/recorder, so mono signal will be recorded through
the AUX JACK (#1) or Radio.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
•Do not subject the unit to excessive force, shock, dust or extreme temperature.
•Do not tamper the internal components of the unit.
•Clean your unit with a dry cloth. Solvent or detergent should never be used.
•Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid or dusty places.
•Keep your unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise
such as fluorescent lamps or motors.
ABOUT CASSETTE TAPES
Whenever you record on a cassette any previously recorded material is erased as
the new material is recorded. To prevent you from accidentally erasing material
which you wish to save, blank cassettes are equipped with erase prevention tabs
for each side of the tape. If the erase prevention tab for side A is removed, you
cannot accidentally record on side A. The Record button cannot be depressed if
the erase prevention tab on the cassette has been removed.
To prevent accidental erasing on side A of a cassette use a small screw driver or
similar tool to break off the erase prevention tab for side A. This prevents the
record key form locking.
If later you do wish to record on side A of the cassette, cover the tab opening with
a piece of cellophane tape. This will allow the Record button to function again.

CASSETTE CARE
Two common causes of trouble experienced when using cassettes are:
1) Tape Jamming – Leading to uneven speed in playback, and
2) Tape Tangling – Where the tape wraps itself around vital parts of the
mechanism.
To reduce the likelihood of these problems occurring, the following precautions
should be observed:
•Check that there are no loose layers of tape visible through the cassette center
window (see Fig. 1). Take up any loose layers, using a pencil or hexagonal
barrelled ballpoint pen, before inserting the
cassette into the machine (see Fig.2)
•If the cassette feels tight while performing operation shown (see Fig.2), the tape
may be jamming due to ridges formed in the winding of the tape (visible through
the center window). These may be removed, in most cases, by fast winding of the
cassette from one end to the other and back again.
•Use only well-known brands of tape. Avoid use of C-120 cassettes.
Furthermore, do not expose cassettes to direct sunlight, dust or oil, and do not
touch the tape surfaces.
HEAD CLEANING
For continued high performance from your cassette deck, periodically clean the
head, pinch roller, and capstan. We recommend cleaning after every 20-30 hours
of operation. To clean the tape deck, press the STOP/EJECT key to open the deck
door. Remove any tape in the deck. Make sure that the power to the unit is OFF.
Moisten a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol or a special head cleaning fluid.

cotton swab

warranty is not assignable or transferable. Our obligation under this

returned to the SPECTRA Service Department, accompanied by proof of the date of
original consumer purchase, such as a duplicate copy of a sales receipt.
You must pay all shipping charges required to ship the product to SPECTRA for warranty
service. If the product is repaired or replaced under warranty, the return charges will be at
SPECTRA’s expense. There are no other express warranties other than those stated
herein.

eligibility for warranty service and repair of the unit without cost. Also include a note with a
