INSTALLATION INFORMATION
The Wolf warming drawer is designed to be set into a built-in wall or cabinet installation.
This section of the manual covers some of the installation issues that a service technician may need to know when
servicing a Wolf warming drawer. If additional installation information is needed after reviewing this section of the
manual, please refer to the installation guide or contact the Wolf Appliance Customer Service Department.

Installation Specifications (Non-Integrated)
The warming drawer is designed to be set into a built-in installation alone, or in combination with a Wolf wall oven,
microwave oven or cooktop. The illustration below shows the rough-in dimensions for a “non-Integrated” warming
drawer installation below a wall oven (See Figure 2-2).

Input operations for the electronic control system are performed at the control panel, which is located at the right
side of the faceplate. The control board, which is located directly behind the control panel, monitors the input opera-
tions performed at the control panel, supplies a signal to the power board to switch the heat element on and off and,
through the use of LED’s (Light Emitting Diodes), displays unit ON/OFF condition, temperature setting, actual tem-
perature and temperature range at various locations on the control panel. The power board provides 5 volts DC
power to the control board, a low volt temperature sense signal to the control board and 115 volts AC power to the
heat element. The auto-reset thermal protector provides overheat protection in the event of control failure. (See
Figures 3-1A & 3-1B) Input operations performed at the control panel are described on the following pages.

CONTROL PANEL LAYOUT
The diagram at right shows the layout of the control
panel, behind which is the control board. The LED
readout, ON/OFF indicator light and temperature range
indicator lights are part of the control board. (See
Figure 3-2)
NOTE: The control panel is hidden when the drawer is
closed. When the drawer is opened, the control panel
can be found at the right side of the front plate.

BASIC ELECTRONIC CONTROL INPUT OPERATIONS
The following illustrations show the basic input operations performed and/or observed at the control panel. Power-
up mode, switching the unit ON and OFF, selecting preset temperature settings and adjusting temperature setting
with the adjustment keys will be explained.

Power-up Mode
When 115V AC is initially applied to the unit, all LED
segments of each digit on the temperature display illu-
minate individually, then the Power ON/OFF indicator
LED and temperature range indicator LED’s (from top to
bottom) will illuminate individually. This is followed by
all LED’s illuminate simultaneously for approximately
five seconds (See Figure 3-3). At the end of diagnostic
mode, the unit displays the software revision level
(number 100 at this writing), then enters OFF mode.
NOTE: This LED illumination sequence also occurs if
power to the unit is interrupted for more than four sec-
onds and/or diagnostic mode (which is covered later in
this manual) is initiated.

Unit ON/OFF
As mentioned earlier, the unit enters OFF mode after
power-up mode. By pressing and releasing the Power
ON/OFF key, ON mode is initiated and power is allowed
past the electronic control system to the heater circuit
and the LED’s. When ON mode is initiated, the unit
defaults to the preset low temperature setting (set at the
factory to 150°F) which will appear in the readout win-
dow and the low temperature range indicator will illumi-
nate. (See Figure 3-4)
When the temperature in the cavity is climbing up to
temperature setting, the heater will be energized con-
stantly until the cavity reaches 10°F below temperature
setting, then the heater will “duty cycle” on and off until
the temperature is 1°F above temperature setting; the
heater is then de-energized. When the temperature
falls 1°F below temperature setting, the heater again
duty cycles.
To switch the unit to OFF mode, press the Power
ON/OFF key while the unit is ON.
NOTE: Whenever the heat element is energized, the
far right decimal point will illuminate.
NOTE: After the last key stroke is performed in ON
mode, the electronic control begins the automatic shut-
off countdown. The automatic shut-off time interval is
set at the factory for four hours, but can be adjusted for
zero to four hours in one hour increments. This will be
covered later in the manual.

After the unit has been switched to ON mode, there are
four preset temperature settings to choose from:
• HIGH (190°F)
• MEDIUM (170°F)
• LOW (150°F)
• PROOF (100°F)
By pressing the appropriate key, the preset temperature
setting will be initiated and that temperature setting will
appear in the temperature readout window. The MEDI-
UM preset temperature key was used in this example.
(See Figure 3-5)
NOTE: Preheat time (the time it takes to reach temper-
ature setting) is as follows:
• HIGH - 20 Minutes
• MEDIUM - 15 Minutes
• LOW - 8 Minutes
• PROOF - 0 Minutes
NOTE: When the temperature setting is changed by
pressing the preset keys, the new temperature setting
will be displayed for three seconds, then actual temper-
atures will be displayed until the new temperature set-
ting is achieved.

Selecting Variable Temperature Settings
After the unit has been switched to ON mode, the tem-
perature setting can be increased and/or decreased by
pressing the arrow keys. Pressing the “up” arrow key
will increase the setting. Pressing the “down” arrow key
will decrease the setting. If either the “up” or “down”
arrow key are pressed and released, the temperature
setting will change accordingly by one degree. If either
key is pressed and held, the temperature setting will
change accordingly by approximately thirteen degrees
per second. (See Figure 3-6)
NOTE: There is a temperature range associated with
each temperature range indicator. Once the tempera-
ture setting exceeds the high or low end of the tempera-
ture range, the range indicator light will switch to the
next range accordingly. The temperature ranges are:
• HIGH (180°F - 200°F)
• MEDIUM (160° - 179°F)
• LOW (120°F - 159°F, Recommended: 145°F - 159°F)
• PROOF (70°F - 119°F, Recommended: 70°F - 100°F)
NOTE: When the temperature setting is changed by
pressing the up and down arrow keys, the new temper-
ature setting will be displayed for three seconds, then
actual temperatures will be displayed until the new tem-
perature setting is achieved.

Preset Value Adjust Mode
The preset temperature values for HIGH,
MEDIUM, LOW and PROOF can be adjust-
ed to any value within the total range of
70°F - 200°F.
To initiate preset value adjust mode, the
unit must first be in OFF mode. With the
unit OFF, press and hold the PROOF key,
then press the ON/OFF key, then release
both keys (See Figure 3-7). The unit is
now in preset adjust mode.
To adjust the preset values while in preset
adjust mode, press the “up” or “down”
arrow keys until the desired temperature is
displayed in the readout window (See
Figure 3-8). Then, press the preset key
which corresponds to the illuminated tem-
perature range indicator (See Figure 3-9).
NOTE: This will vary depending on the
temperature range that the new value falls
into.
After all temperature value adjustments
have been performed, press the ON/OFF
key to exit preset value adjust mode and to
save the new preset values to memory
(See Figure 3-10).
NOTES:
•If only one preset key is pressed during
preset value adjust mode, the other
three preset values will be retained.
•Preset temperature values are saved in
non-volatile memory, so if power is inter-
rupted the latest values entered will be
retained.

Automatic Shut-off Adjust Mode
The electronic control is programmed at the
factory to automatically switch the unit OFF
four hours after the last key stroke is per-
formed in the ON mode. This automatic
shut-off time interval can be adjusted for
zero to four hours in one hour increments.
To initiate automatic shut-off adjust mode,
the unit must first be in OFF mode. With
the unit OFF, press and hold the “down”
arrow key, then press the ON/OFF key,
then release both keys (See Figure 3-11).
The last programmed automatic shut-off
time interval along with the letters “hr” will
appear in the readout window, indicating
the unit is in automatic shut-off adjust mode
(See Figure 3-12).
To adjust time interval while in automatic
shut-off adjust mode, press either the the
“up” or “down” arrow keys until the desired
interval is displayed in the readout window
(See Figure 3-13). Then, press the
ON/OFF key to exit automatic shut-off
adjust mode and save the new setting to
memory (See Figure 3-14).
NOTE: The automatic shut-off time interval
is saved in non-volatile memory, so if power
is interrupted the latest interval entered will
be retained.
NOTE: If “0 hr” is selected and saved, the
unit will not switch off automatically (see
Sabbath Mode on next page).

Sabbath Mode
For the observance of certain religious
days, a Sabbath mode was incorporated
into the electronic control system. When in
Sabbath mode, the automatic shut-off is
disabled, allowing the unit to run continu-
ously.
Initiating Sabbath mode is accomplished
through automatic shut-off adjust mode.
The unit must first be in OFF mode. With
the unit OFF, press and hold the “down”
arrow key, then press the ON/OFF key,
then release both keys (See Figure 3-15).
The last programmed automatic shut-off
time interval along with the letters “hr” will
appear in the readout window (See Figure
3-16). Now, press the the “down” arrow
keys until “0 hr” is displayed in the readout
window (See Figure 3-17). Then, press the
ON/OFF key to exit automatic shut-off
adjust mode and save the new setting to
memory (See Figure 3-18).
The unit is now in Sabbath mode, so it will
run continuously until the ON/OFF key is
pressed.
NOTE: If the automatic shut-off time inter-
val is set to zero it will be saved in non-
volatile memory, so if power is interrupted
Sabbath mode will be retained.

set back to all factory default settings
through the initialization mode.
To initiate initialization mode, the unit must
first be in OFF mode. With the unit OFF,
press and hold the “up” and “down” arrow
keys, then press the ON/OFF key, then
release all three keys (See Figure 3-19).
The letters “ini” will appear in the readout
window, indicating the unit is in initialization
mode (See Figure 3-20). Now, press the
ON/OFF key to exit initialization mode and
restore the default settings to memory (See
Figure 3-21).
NOTE: The default settings will now be
saved in non-volatile memory, so if power is
interrupted the default settings will be
retained.

Diagnostic Mode
Diagnostic mode allows the service techni-
cian to verify proper function of the LED’s
and related circuits. In fact, diagnostic
mode performs the same functions as
power-up mode without having to access
the power cord or circuit breaker.
To initiate diagnostic mode, the unit must
first be in OFF mode. With the unit OFF,
press and hold the “up” arrow key, then
press the ON/OFF key, then release both
keys (See Figure 3-22).
After performing the key strokes listed
above, all LED segments of each digit on
the temperature display illuminate individu-
ally, then the ON/OFF indicator LED and
temperature range indicator LED’s (from
top to bottom) will illuminate individually.
This is followed by all LED’s illuminate
simultaneously for approximately five sec-
onds (See Figure 3-23). At the end of diag-
nostic mode, the unit displays the software
revision level (number 100 at this writing),
then enters OFF mode (See Figure 3-24).
NOTE: If the LED’s do not illuminate in the
sequence described above, refer to the
Troubleshooting Guide in this manual.

COMPONENT ACCESS AND REMOVAL
This section explains how to adjust, access and remove components in a model WD30 Warming Drawer.
An attempt has been made to arrange these procedures in such a way as to simulate which components would
need to be removed first in order to gain access to other components. When following a component removal proce-
dure, it may be necessary to reference another component removal procedure listed earlier in this section.
NOTE: Before continuing, please take note of the WARNINGS and CAUTIONS below.
-IF IT IS NECESSARYTO REMOVE AWARMING DRAWER FROM ITS INSTALLATION, REMEMBER THAT
THE UNIT IS HEAVY AND COULD TIP AND/OR FALL WHEN PULLED FORWARD BEYOND THE ANTI-TIP
COMPONENTS, RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURYOR DEATH. PULLING AUNIT FROM ITS INSTALLA-
TION SHOULD ONLYBE PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE TECHNICIAN OR INSTALLER.

Wire Rack
The wire rack sits in the stainless steel drawer box.
To remove the rack, open the drawer fully and lift the
rack out of the box. (See Figure 4-1)
Stainless Steel Drawer Box
The side and back flanges at the top of the stainless
steel drawer box rest on top of the drawer frame.
Begin removing the drawer box by opening the drawer
fully. Then, at the center of the right and left side
flanges, lift the drawer box up out of the drawer frame.
(See Figure 4-1)
Vent Slide Components
The back tabs and pegs of the slide knob fit into a slot
and holes in the vent slide.
Threaded studs are welded to the face of the drawer
frame. The vent slide is placed on the face of the draw-
er frame with the studs passing through slots in the
slide. A shoulder washer is placed over each stud to
take up the difference in size between the stud and the
slot. A lock washer and nut are placed on each stud
and the nuts are snugged down.
To remove the vent slide components, the drawer panel
will need to be removed first. With the panel removed,
the slide knob can be removed by depressing the tabs
at the rear and pushing the knob out of the slot in the
vent slide. (See Figure 4-2)
To remove the vent slide, extract the nuts, lock washers
and shoulder washers from the threaded studs and pull
the vent slide from the face of the drawer frame. (See
Figure 4-2)
Drawer Frame
The drawer frame is attached to the drawer glide
assemblies. Three tabs on each side of the frame (one
at the front, middle and back) lock into slots in the inner
rail of each glide assembly.
To remove the drawer frame, begin by opening the
drawer fully. At the center of either side, insert a
straight blade screwdriver down between the frame and
the glide rail far enough to disengage the middle locking
tab (See Figure 4-3), then lift the front of the frame up
to disengage the front tab. Repeat these steps for the
other side. Now, pull the frame forward while holding
the rails away from the frame to disengage the rear tab
from the rail.

Drawer Glide Assembly
The drawer glide assemblies are attached to the side
walls of the warming drawer cavity by two tabs on the
back side of each glide, one at the rear pointing back
and one toward the front pointing down. The rear tab is
inserted back into a slot in the cavity side wall and the
front tab is inserted down into another slot in the side
wall. With the glide rails fully extended, a hex-head
mounting screw is inserted through a clearance hole of
the outer glide rail and into the mounting hole in the
glide frame. Once the mounting hole is aligned with the
hole in the side wall, the screw is tightened, holding the
drawer glide assembly in place.
To remove a drawer glide assembly, the drawer box
and drawer frame must first be removed. Then, fully
extend the glide rails. Locate the mounting screw
inside the clearance hole of the outer glide rail. With a
thin walled 1/4” nut-driver or socket, extract the mount-
ing screw (See Figure 4-4). Lift the front of the glide
assembly up and toward the middle of the appliance to
disengage the front tab from the slot in the side wall,
then pull the drawer glide assembly forward to disen-
gage the rear tab.
Wire Box Cover
The wire box cover is attached to the right side of the
warming drawer, toward the front, with screws.
To access the wire box cover, the appliance will first
need to be removed from its installation. Then, extract
the screws that secure the cover to the side of the
appliance and pull the cover off. (See Figure 4-5)
Heat Element
The electrical terminals of the heat element pass
through holes in the right side wall of the warming
drawer cavity. Wire leads are connected to the heat
element terminals behind the right side wall. The
bracket which holds the ends of the heat element is
secured to the right side wall with two screws. Two J-
clips hook over the top of the element and are secured
to the floor of the warming drawer cavity with screws.
To access the heat element, the drawer box and drawer
frame must first be removed; the appliance must then
be extracted from its installation and the wire box cover
must be removed. Then, extract the J-clip mounting
screws from the floor of the cavity and remove the J-
clips (See Figure 4-6). Unplug the electrical leads from
the terminals. Extract the element bracket mounting
screws from the right side wall. Pull the heat element
to the left so that the electrical terminals are in the cavi-
ty and lift the heat element out of the cavity.

Power Cord
The wire leads of the power cord pass through a hole in
the control panel cover. The wire grommet on the
power cord holds the cord in place in the control panel
cover. The power and neutral wires of the power cord
are attached to the power board, with the ground wire
attached to the grounding stud on the cavity.
To access the power cord, the appliance will first need
to be extracted from its installation and the wire box
cover will need to be removed. Then, gently pull the
insulation away from the appliance and unplug the
power and neutral wires from the power board.
Disconnect the ground wire from the grounding stud
and pull the wires through the hole in the control panel
cover. (See Figure 4-7)
NOTE: Prior to Serial #13005870, the MOV’s and filter
are part of the power cord assembly, and they must be
used with the power cord to avoid stray voltage issues.
Starting with Serial #13005870, the MOV’s and filter
were moved to the power board.
Control Panel Cover
The control panel cover is attached to the right side of
the warming drawer, toward the rear, with screws.
To access the control panel cover, the appliance will
first need to be removed from its installation. Then,
extract the screws that secure the cover to the side of
the appliance and pull the cover off. (See Figure 4-8)
Power Board
The power board is attached to the right side of the
drawer cavity with threaded studs and nuts. Spacers
on each threaded stud keep the power board from con-
tacting the cavity.
To access the power board, the appliance will first need
to be extracted from its installation and the wire box
cover will need to be removed. Then, unplug all wire
connections from the power board. Extract the nuts
from the threaded studs and pull the power board away
from the side of the cavity. (See Figure 4-9)
