BURNER FAILS TO OPERATE
Alwayscallaqualiedtechnician
Thetroublemaybe:
• Raiseyourthermostatto5ºC(10ºF)abovepresentroomtemperature
• Makesureyour“OilBurner“powerswitchisinthe“ON”position
• Ifyouhearahumfromtheoilburner,andthemotorhasnotstarted,presstheresetbuttononthe
burnermotoronceonly.
• Blownfuse/“tripped”breakerinelectricalpanel
• Thermostatmaybesetbelowroomtemperature.
• Burnerrelay(combustioncontrol)mayhavetobe“reset”(pressresettwiceonly)
• Oilvalvemaybeclosed.
• Oilsupplymaybetoolow.
• Manualresetfanandlimitcontrolmaybe“tripped”
• Blockeduesensor“tripped”
• Iftheoilburnerfailstostartorrunsforonlyafewseconds,callaqualiedservicetechnician
OIL FURNACE ANNUAL SERVICE
Theoilburnerandfurnaceshouldbethoroughlycleanedandservicedannuallybyaqualiedservicetech-
nician,andwhererequiredbylaw,alicensedtechnician.
CAUTION: Donotuseanycommerciallyavailablesootremover.
Useextremecautionwhenservicingsincethecombustionchamberisfragile.
Routinecleaningoftheuepassagesdoesnotrequirecleaningthecombustionchamber.
Ifforsomereason,itisnecessarytoworkintheareaofthecombustionchamber,donot
touchoralterthechamberposition.
Beforecleaning,shutoffelectricalpowersupplytothefurnace.
Note: Always keep oil supply valve shut off if burner is shut down for an extended period of time.
Thenozzleshouldbereplacedannually–handlenozzlewithcaresothattheinsidesurfacetipis
notscratched.
Theelectrodesshouldbecleanedandadjusted.(seeoilburnermanualsuppliedwiththeoilburner).
LUBRICATION
Apply2–3dropsofSAE20–30NonDetergentoilONLYtotheoilport(s)locatedateitherendofthe
burnermotor.
Apply2–3dropsofSAE20–30NonDetergentoilONLYtotheoilportslocatedateitherendofthe
blowermotor.DO NOT OIL THE FAN BEARINGS!
CLEANOUTS
SLO115: Removecleanoutpanelandcapfromthefrontpanel.
Loosensootfromtheradiatorwithacleaningtoolorbrush.Thetoolshouldbendallowing
cleaningofthecurvedsurfacesoftheheatexchanger.
Tocleantherearoftheradiator,removethechimneyuepipefromthefurnaceuepipe
Removethebafefromthefurnaceuepipe.Loosenthesootfromtherearoftheheat
exchanger,uepipeandbafe.
SFLO115: Removeoneofthecleanoutpanelsandcaplocatedonthesidepanels.Itisonlynecessary
toremoveoneofthecleanouts.
Also,removethechimneyuepipefromthefurnace.
Loosensootfromradiatorwithacleaningtoolorbrush.Thetoolshouldbendallowcleaning
ofthecurvedsurfacesoftheheatexchanger.
Remove all loose soot with a vacuum cleaner suitable for this purpose. Inspect passages to check for
missed areas. When reinstalling the cleanout cap, make sure you replace the gasket.
