USAGE:
INSERT/REPLACE BATTERIES:
1. Open the battery compartment (4) on the receiver and the
battery compartment on the base station (F). Remove the old
batteries if there are any and insert two type AAA/LR03 1.5V
batteries using the polarity indicators in the battery
compartment.

The batteries are NOT supplied with the device.
To operate the device you require four LR03 / AAA 1.5 V batteries,
two for the base station and two for the receiver.
INSTALLATION/STARTING:
NEVER use the device in a MICROWAVE.
Route the cable for the temperature measuring probe (H) away
from the food and the heat source (max. 380°C). Keep the base
station the receiver away from hot surfaces since they could

1. Secure the base station using the magnets (D) tted on the
base plate or using the Velcro tape (G).
8
GB

NOTE:
Thread the Velcro tape (G) through the two eyelets (E) on the
underside of the base station so that the hook side of the Velcro
faces the base.
2. You can attach the receiver to your belt or trouser pocket using
the belt clip (3) or the attached magnets.
3. Insert the plug on the temperature measuring probe (H) into
the socket (C) on the base station.
4. Slide the On/O switch (A) on the base station into the "ON"
position to switch on the base station. The LED operating
control lamp (B) will indicate that it is ready for use by ashing
briey.
5. Slide the On/O switch (1) On the receiver into the "ON"
position to switch on the receiver. The LC display (5) will light
up green and the current temperature being measured on the
temperature measuring probe (H) will be shown under
CURRENT TEMP.
6. The device is now ready for use.
NOTE:
The base station will send the current temperature to the re-
ceiver at short regular intervals and this will be shown in the LC
display (5) under (CURRENT TEMP) unless the temperature
changes. As soon as the temperature changes, the updated
actual temperature will be sent automatically by the base station
to the receiver.
9GB

NOTE:
The frequency selector switch (I) on the base station enables you
to select three dierent transmission channels. The receiver will
automatically nd the channel set on the base station each time
the transmitter and base station are switched on. If several
devices are being used simultaneously in the transmission range
of the transmitter (max. 20 m), the transmission channel must be
changed using the frequency selector switch (I) before the
device is switched on. It is not possible to change the frequency
during use.
INSERT THE TEMPERATURE MEASURING PROBE (H):
The temperature measuring probe (H) and the cable may be
used in a maximum temperature of 380°C. Ensure that the base
station is installed away from hot surfaces since otherwise it may
suer irreparable damage.
Insert the tip of the temperature measuring probe (H) into the
side of the thickest point of the food whose temperature you
wish to monitor so that you can turn the food as it cooks.
NOTE:
Ensured that you do not touch any fat, gristle or born with the tip
of the temperature measuring probe (H) since otherwise the
temperature measurement could be falsied.
Always wear cooking, oven or barbecue gloves when touching
the temperature measuring probe (H) all the cable during or
immediately after use.

GB

When the temperature measuring probe (H) has been correctly
positioned and the On/O switches (A /1) on the base station
and receiver have been set to "ON", you must select the
measuring unit:
1. Press the MODE key (2d) to select degrees Celsius °C or
degrees Fahrenheit °F.
NOTE:
The thermometer can display temperatures in the following
temperature ranges: 0°C – 250°C (32°F – 482°F). If you attempt to
measure temperatures below 0°C (32°F), LLL will be displayed on
the LC display (5) at (CURRENT TEMP). If you attempt to measure
temperatures over 250°C (482°F), HHH will be displayed on the
LC display (5) at (CURRENT TEMP). In this case remove the tem-
perature measuring probe (H) immediately to prevent it being
damaged.
2. SET THE FOOD TYPE (2e) AND COOKING SETTING (2c):
The device has preset cooking target temperatures for various
food types and, if applicable, the required cooking settings.
The preset target temperature is shown on the LCD display (5) on
the receiver under TARGET TEMP. The target temperature can be
set as required on the receiver using the FOOD (2e) and
GRADATION (2c) keys. Repeatedly press the FOOD key (2e) until
you have selected the required food type. Then press the
GRADATION key (2c) until you have selected the required
cooking setting. The device will now automatically start the
measuring process.

SPECIAL CAKE AND BAKING FUNCTION:
If you select the cake function, it makes sense not to use the
temperature measuring probe (H) until the mixture has a slight
crust to ensure that it does not sink into the liquid mixture. For
cakes and other baked goods, you should ideally insert the tem-
perature measuring probe (H) at an angle into the cake mixture
and submerge at least one-third of the total length of the tem-
perature measuring probe (H) into it.
The list of preset food types and the possible settings for them is
set out in the table below:

SET THE TIMER/STOPWATCH:
This device has a timer and a stopwatch which can be used inde-
pendently of the temperature measuring probe (H). The time can
be counted upwards or downwards when these functions are
being used. The maximum time which can be set on the timer is
99:59 (MIN:SEC).
TIMER:
To count time downwards, press MIN- (2g) or the SEC key (2f)
until the required time is displayed. Pressing and holding these
keys will speed up the time setting process. Then press the
GO / STOP key (2a) to start the timer. When the timer has run
down, 0M:00S will ash in the LC display (5) and the device will
start to beep.
STOPWATCH:
To count the time upwards (stopwatch), press the GO / STOP key
(2a) without rst setting the time.
• For both these functions, press the GO / STOP key (2a) to stop
the selected count.
• You can reset both functions automatically to 00M:00S by
pressing the RESET key (2b).
