Introduct on
The XWL ser es encompasses both, W-DMX as well as CRMX compat ble and compact w reless DMX transm tters and
rece vers.
Mult ple XWL-R receivers can be l nked to a s ngle XWL-T transmitter. Each model supports one of the lead ng DMX
transm ss on solut ons; W-DMX (by W reless Solut on) or CRMX (by LumenRad o). Thus, each XWL s compat ble w th
a large number of w reless DMX rece vers or transm tters that use the same protocol fam ly (W-DMX or CRMX).
The bu lt- n power supply allows for a rel able operat on at a w de voltage range and the powerCON nlet from
Neutr k makes t easy to connect your XWL to the ma ns.
Its mechan cal des gn allows for nstall ng the XWL flex bly, such that the user s able to put the antenna n a
conven ent pos t on w th n any setup. The bu lt- n 3/8” thread allows the use of a m crophone stand. Further, a
clamp for truss-mount ng can be f xed to the M10/M12 thread of the XWL’s rugged alum num hous ng.

Safety Informat on
Consider the following notes absolutely when you set u , connect and use the XWL.
This roduct is not for household use. Read this manual before o erating the device, follow the
safety recautions and observe all warnings in this manual.
Use this device only in accordance with local laws and regulations.
Safety Precaut ons
•Disconnect the device from AC ower before removing any cover or art, including any
fuse and when not in use.
•Ensure that the device is electrically connected to ground (earth).
•Use only a source of AC ower that com lies with local building and electrical codes and
has both overload and ground-fault (earth fault) rotection.
•Before using the device, check that the ower distribution equi ment and cables are in
erfect condition and rated for the current required of all connected devices.
•Isolate the device from ower immediately if the ower cable or the ower lug is in any
way damaged, defective or wet, or if they show signs of overheating.
•Do not ex ose the device to rain or moisture.
•Do not o erate the device if any cover or com onent is missing, damaged or deformed.
•Refer any service o eration not described is this manual to SWISSON.
•Provide unrestricted airflow around the device.
•Do not o erate the device if the ambient tem erature exceeds 55°C (131°F).
•Do not modify the device in any way not described in this manual or install other than
genuine SWISSON arts.
•Do not attem t to by ass any fuse. Re lace any defective fuse with one of the s ecified
ty e and rating only.
•When sus ending the device, ensure that the su orting structure and all hardware used
can hold at least 10 times the weight of all devices sus ended from them.
•When sus ending the device, install a secondary attachment such as a safety cable that is
a roved by an official body such as TÜV as a safety attachment for the total weight it
secures. The safety cable must com ly with EN 60598-2-17 Section 17.6.6 and be ca able
of bearing a static sus ended load 10 times the weight of the device.
•Make sure that any external cover and rigging hardware is securely fastened.
•Block access below the work area whenever installing, servicing or moving an overhead
device.
•Do not use the device in areas where it is ex osed to direct sunlight.

Ma ns Connect on
The user must supply a su table power cable. The user must then e ther hard-w re the power cable to the bu ld ng’s
electr cal nstallat on, prov d ng an eas ly access ble power on/off sw tch close to the dev ce, or nstall on the power
cable a ground ng-type (earthed) ma ns plug that s su table for the local power outlets, follow ng the power plug
manufacturer’s nstruct ons. Consult a qual f ed electr c an, f you have any doubts about proper nstallat on.
A blue Neutrik powerCON NAC3FCA cable mount connector must be used to supply power to the XWL.
Warning! For rotection from dangerous electric shocks, the device must be grounded (earthed). The
local AC ower source must have both overload and ground-fault (earth fault) rotection.
Im ortant! The owerCON is a connector without breaking ca acity, i.e. the owerCON should not be
connected or disconnected under load or live!

DMX Connect ons
The DMX nput of the XWL-T and the DMX output of the XWL-R are solated.
Models of the XWL are ava lable w th 3-p n or 5-p n XLR connectors.
L ne Term nat on
The DMX nput of the XWL-T has a bu lt- n l ne term nat on.
A m ss ng term nat on at the end of a DMX cha n may lead to s gn f cant reflect on ssues. Add t onal term nat on
res stors n the m ddle of a cha n may cause an unwanted drop of the s gnal level. L ne term nat on s also known to
reduce the suscept b l ty to env ronmental no se.
Transm ss on Standards
The XWL s ava lable n d fferent vers ons w th vary ng transm ss on types.
1) CRMX™ (Cogn t ve Rad o Mult pleXer) by LumenRad o.
2) W-DMX™ by W reless Solut on.
Both types are very rel able and w dely spread n the profess onal l ght ng ndustry. Refer to Order ng Informat on on
page 12 for a l st of all ava lable var ants.
